  1. Yeah. Thanks for all the advice everyone. I found out that they r still putting up classes so hopefully they add more sections; plus, when winter comes my status changes to get priority registration, which is really helpful. Yes I definitely will show up to each section and I am planning to email the teacher who teaches the pre-req courses to see if they got their own waitlist. I mean, its brutal out there, you take what you get. And unfortunately I am unemployed which means I can take class whenever, even the "undesirable" times (which I prefer anyway) Thanks again to everyone!
  2. Hmmm...I wonder which ADN programs will take them...is UNE expensive? I hope they take loans...
  3. Hmmm Sorry, maybe its a new thing but I never though science classes would be online but ok. I don't think anywhere around me offers online science courses, and I am applying to all ADN programs in a 60 mile radius and I am 99.9% positive they won't take online science classes.
  4. They don't offer online classes for science pre-reqs. That just doesnt make sense. I mean I will try and register for the classes and if I don't get in, I always show up the first day of class anyway to see if people don't show...I don't know if Ill get in but its worth a try. Priority registration is like july 26th or something while i register aug 9th. I mean I guess I just wont be in NS for 10 years....at this rate im in so cal btw
  5. Um yeah...one of each ant, physio, micro. I just don't know what to do and I don't have a job either so I don't even know how I am going to pay for this whole thing anyway...
  6. WOW talk about the state taking money away from schools and the economy still in a dump! My school is only offering ONE class, (your heard me) ONE stinking pre-req class. What am I supposed to do if I don't get in??? I have nothing else to take...Plus I register really LATE on top if that... Anyone else worried they can't even get into pre-req classes LET ALONE ns one day???
  7. Lol. Nah I am not giving up on PCC, but i know my overall GPA is dropping even though i am acing the sciences ( those are the ones that count right?) I too am going to apply to every ADN program (and CSULB) in a 60 mile radius and hopefully i get in. BTW what is your stats for getting into PCC? thanks!
  8. wow, they [the nurses] have jobs others actually want/need
  9. i believe PCC (pasadena city college) explicitly says in their RN brochure that W's DO count against you.
  10. Thanks.... Oh well, all you can do is try your best, hope & pray that i will get in when i can.... Well i won't only be applying to PCC, but to CSULB (its like 45 miles away but w/e) and the remaining ADN programs up to 60 mile radius around me (i live down the street from Citrus College; ive heard they are really competitve) hopefully I get into @ ONE of the them.... cause for now, thats the hardest part...
  11. wow man i suck because my GPA dropped below a 3.0 (i was an engineering major) now i have 3 last pre-reqs that i know i can A's in (because i have only those classes and i am taking them slowly) and even if i get A's plus my B in english...i wont get in...pretty depressing...
  12. man people with 4.0's arent getting in, i was an engineering major and it is a really REALLY HARD major to do, my GPA fell almost below a 3.0, & now i am worried i wont get in when i apply next spring.... anyone apply and get in with More to Learn: I know, i was just being sarcastic that in the fact that a) nurses are pretty important b) the fact is that those smart ppl getting in & won't make good nurses (or are just being a nurse to get into a job "quickly") get the spot that others [like you & me want because its our passion to do] that just irks me lol
  13. ok so i am in southern california and right now it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to get into an ADN program unless you have like a 4.0 right? well some schools also look at retaking classes/withdrawals and they will negatively affect you. well see i have a withdrawal but it was more of a mistake then a withdrawal heres the story: i had taken the first class of a bio major biology series at JC then i transferred to 4-yr university and have to finish the biology series (2 more classes because i was a bio major at a quarter system college) well they told me that i had to take the first of the biology series, well i thought i already started the first of the series at the JC, but maybe it transferred differently. So i started class at the university when i look at my transfer progress report and it says i repeated the first class of the biology series. i was like wow i have been in class (i have already taken, no wonder it was boring and very familiar lol) for 2 weeks past the add/drop period so i knew i would have to take a W. so now i am worried because i don't want it to reflect negatively to the NS's i want to apply for anyone have advice or experience in this (or in applying to a so cal ADN schools much appreciated!!
  14. wow, i have my assoiciates in science degree, a B in english and havent done the BIG 3 SCii pre-req, i am not worried because i am really good at bio but even if i get an A in the pre-req science courses plus the B english wont guarantee a spot? wow...what is the world coming to when getting into nursing school was just as hard as getting into med school?
  15. Hey i am applying there this upcoming spring...i am really scared because of the ADN programs in SOCAL are extremely hard to get into and so i was wondering (yours and anyone else who applied to PCC, CA) what your pre-req GPA. Thanks
  16. congrats you got in (in a later post) i am in the glendora area, basically down the street from citrus college. i was wondering how competitive is the so cal programs.i am really worried cuz i got like 3.0 and its going down (im taking engineering classes, changing my major back to nursing, those classes are HARD) hopefully when i do the last pre-reqs (a&p, mirco) that it raises it. i plan on getting my CNA license this winter and i already have an associates degree. so do you know which schools in so cal are on a points system? and how competitive they are? thanks
  17. wow thats cool theres a local hospital that does that sort of thing. here there is none (so cal) um i would definitely avoid the expensive one, 5 months earlier is nice but seriously you don't want a $200-$300 payment per month to pay off that loan! i am like you, have to apply when ALL pre-reqs are done (which is going to be done this fall) i am applying this jan and hopefully getting in next fall. seems like forever from now. lol good luck
  18. gosh, i am in so cal too and not applying to RCC but wow, everytime i see someone not get in, it makes me worry i won't either and who wants to wait 3-4 years trying to get into NS on top of the 2 in the program and teh 1-2 for the RN-BSN bridge. gosh that is a total of like 5-7 years. UCK! i hope & pray i get in on the first try. btw where else did you guys apply to and what is the point system work?
  19. chemistry is really EASY, pay attention and take good notes. add it during the summer. i did it in 6 weeks, easy A
  20. ok, i dont know about you but the schools i know NEVER have science classes online, i mean what is the point on having a science class online? you need the lecture and you DEFINITELY need the lab to help you learn. OH and my college (and every college around me and in my state) doesnt let you do physio until you completed anatomy. (unless they are combined, then you do 1 then 2) just my experience :) good luck
  21. I agree with [some] of the others in that an algebra class would definitely benefit you. If it is something that ridiculous that is holding you back, I suggest applying other schools, especially to increase your odds. Good LUck!
  22. I have the same fears you have, but i havent applied yet (same GPA etc..) I say you re-take psychology this fall (or summer) and try your hardest to get an A. I would also apply to more than once school, try to find out all the schools within a certain radius and see if their pre-reqs are the same, if so i would apply to those schools as well. GOOD LUCK!
