The clinical sights are all LTC and rehab type places out in BFE. I'm talking... Forest Grove, Hood River, and many other places 30+ miles from school. Some students were driving from Wilsonville or Salem to Hood River twice a week for clinicals. They also don't allow you to do much at the facility. I hate ITT-Tech and am sure they won't get accredited. The Indiana schools have something like a 48% NCLEX pass rate right now... the national average is almost 90! The Indiana school has had 3 years of way below average and unless they fix it this year they are getting shut down. They have graduated several classes and still do not have full accreditation from the Indiana board of nursing and they have been denied NLNAC accreditation twice now. They are not even in candidacy status as of right now. The Florida school is BON approved, but I don't know what their requirements are, and one year they only graduated one student. *** ITT!

There were some tricky questions on the reading comprehension part.

Congrats! I went to CUI for my bachelor's degree in Biology. I wish they had a BSN program back then! I loved going to school there and living in OC. Irvine is a great place to live.

I think they will be calling for financial aid appts. when they have a pretty good idea of who will be getting in. I'm fine w/ Sept. or Dec. too, but would definitely prefer Sept.

The math, grammar, and vocab were JUST like in the book. The reading was a bit easier than the book. But the book helped me a lot. We had to take all of the portions (I took it June 3), but apparently they are only counting the math and english. It wasn't super hard but I felt overwhelmed at the end because the book didn't prepare me at all for the science. There is a calculator built in to the test program, but know how to do fractions like in the book. Know your household conversions, like ounces in a gallon, and some metric to standard conversions. It really wasn't super hard. In the reading, I felt like sometimes there were multiple answers that could be right and that is where I got deducted a bit. You'll do great. Did Justina say what the average June class got on the HESI? The sucky part is that we're not going to know if we're in until August. It's hard to wait and keep other plans on the back burner, not knowing if this will happen or not. Justina told me w/ a 94 I should have a good chance at getting in. We'll see. When I went to my info session they were working on articulation agreements w/ other schools. They had Linfield and Walla Walla done, but they didn't tell us the third because it wasn't finalized. What is it?

Good luck! I scored 94 on the math and English portions of the test. Hopefully we both get in to the Portland program. I am really excited too! You will do great w/ the HESI. Message me if you have any questions about it.

The grammar and vocab are JUST like the study guide. There is a math calculator built in, but it's very basic. You'll just push a button and it pops up. From what I recall, there were no questions about sentence structure, and it was all very simple. I got 100% on grammar and I think 97% on vocab. There were a lot of questions asking you to pick the option that would make the sentence correct, questions asking you what was making the sentence incorrect, etc. It's all VERY similar to the study guide. I personally made sure that I knew how to do all of the problems in the study guide by hand, but that was just for my own personal comfort. But, by all means, the calculator is there so definitely at least use it to check your answers. But know how to do all things in regards to fractions because there isn't a fraction button on that thing.

Very exciting!! I hope I find out sooner rather than later... I think we won't find out until August if we are starting in the September class though.

I think it's kind of lame that you returned the book after getting what you wanted out of it. Isn't there a copyright on that book? The HESI was easy peasy. I took it and got a 94.

OK. I took mine today at the Portland campus. Kurd, they should have emailed you the scores today, because they only email them out after every 25 students pass the test and I was one of the last 3 needed to close that test group out. The other half of our group is going to have to wait for their results. I had to take all of the sections, but they said that the science ones aren't being counted. I got 84% with the science included in my score, and 94% without the science portions!!! I'm actually pretty shocked that I did that well because I felt really stressed at the end. It took me 2.5 hours, but I pretty much guessed on the chem and bio. I have a degree in Biology but it's been a long time since I took those classes! I really hope that my score is enough to get me in.

The program I'm looking in to tests once at the beginning, and then any time they think it is required. If you come to school or clinicals high, or appearing to be high, they will require that you get tested. If you pass the whiz quiz, they pay for it. If you fail, you pay for it and then you are kicked out of the program.

KurdRN, I have been told by two posters so far that it is OK to bring a calculator. One said in an email that someone in their info session asked if calculators were allowed and the person said yes. So, I'm going to bring one just in case. Someone on here said that there is a calculator on the computer too. When are you taking it?

I'm looking at taking Stafford loans out, and if I have to get a private loan, I will. There are loan programs through places like Wells Fargo that are for people in nursing programs. I think there may be a federal loan program for nursing too, but can't remember.

Oh man, oh man! I've been practicing the questions in the study guide strictly by hand, because I assumed a calculator wouldn't be available. I've been doing really well, too! This is great news. Thanks for the information. I work in healthcare now, so I know military time and a lot of the conversions already. Are there two math sections and two english/read/grammar type sections? Now that I know I can use a calculator, I'm really excited!

I'm taking it on the 3rd. The lady told our info session (Portland campus) that the average was around 83, but wasn't entirely sure because they had to reevaluate since they removed the science. Then someone here said with the science removed it was about 86%. At our location they are taking the science out and bumping the needed pass score to 75%. When and where did you take it? What was it like? How was the math and english sessions? I'm a bit nervous about the math, although I've reviewed the study book and it doesn't seem too hard... it's just been a long time since I've done math!

The ITT in Indiana is pending NLN accredidation. Just because it isn't granted YET doesn't mean it won't be. The school I got undergraduate from is still pending NLN approval, but it is a well respected BSN program.

I definitely appreciate your insight. It seems like you've been doing your research. I'm not sure where you live, but here in Portland, people w/ 3.6, 3.7 etc. GPA's are being refused, and they have CNA's etc. I'm not concerned about the amount of tuition. I don't want to sit around for years retaking classes at a CC. I've got a 2 year old and just don't have time for that. I don't think that doing this will make me a less desirable grad, given that I'll be going in to a BSN program from a regionally accredited school. Again though, I'm not enrolled, and haven't taken the exam yet. Classes don't start until September. So I've got some time to consider different routes. What would you think about doing an LPN program and then a LPN to BSN?

Because it is really competitive here and my GPA, although decent isn't really good enough to get in to those programs. I think that I'd just like to get started now instead of waiting another year to apply, hoping I get in... with a good chance at NOT getting in again.
