Average Scores on Kaplan Question Trainers and Qbank and Passed NCLEX 1/18/2013
Hi @Anh Thu Le, thanks so much for posting up the kplan score. I been searching around the site and couldn't find much help in comparing my score to others and seeing my chance to pass. Im taking the exam on May 7!!! My scores are QT 1: 58% QT 2: 65% QT3: 48% QT4:61% QT 5: 62% QT 6: 62% and then taking QT 7 next week before the exam Qbanks score varies from lowest which was 44%- highest 73% . Most of the Qbanks score landed around 57-62% I am so nervous and worry. Don't know what else to do anymore but keep studying except i don't want to verstudy and burden my brain. Studying kaplan majority of the time but just bought HurstReview last week so will be doing the practice test this weekend. I also did a few chapter on PDA book and a few questions in Liptincott Q&A Review for Nclex-RN. So nervous! i hope to pass the first time!!

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
oh right. forgot to mention. the program's immunizations paper requirement states that either you get the vaccines OR attach a copy of the titers results or a copy of the immunization records. But if last dose was more than five years, then titer require. Going straight to the vaccine sounds good if you dont have the records, but i think it could be risky. so titer is best. Besides, we all pretty much have these vaccines in us since we were a child. So titer would be positive and no need vaccinations. Just turn in the titer results. i think it depends on your doctor or the clinic u go to whether or not a titer is really needed or just going straight for the vaccine despite the chances that you might already have the immunity in you.

hi everyone, thanks for the reply. It was really helpful. I think I understand how it works now. and Yes i will talk to -------- on Monday or Tuesday just to confirm everything. Let say if someone has their immunization records (the yellow card- which i obvious dont have, cant find it!), and if all the vaccines has been up to date, within the last five years then theyre good. Just need to attach the copy of immunization record for the nursing program. No need anymore vaccination. But I guess in my case, I don't have the records. Even if i had the vaccines within five years to this date, I would still need a titer drawn since i got nothing to prove i had it. So titer is the only way to prove whether or not i have immunity to whatever im testing for. So that being said, and thanks to catsolores, I will definitely go get a titer. I got no choice! (aggghh...that 's gonna be expensive). I dont think I can just request them to give me the shots. Doctors just want to be safe and check if u have been immuned or not. I heard from some people getting vaccinated again, even though u already got the immunity can cause some kind of reaction. I don't want to risk my health =D !!! So titer it is! Hopefully I am as lucky as Catsolores on having all the titer positive, that way i dont need to spend anymore money for the vaccinations lol! @Maylyvn- hi! Same here I dont remember much about LVN, but it wasnt much. Sorry, I was paying attention to my RN. But I do remember about her mentioning how LVN has to finish all their application (background check, drug test, and the Physical exam) before Class start which is in January. And that its better to get it all the paperwork done as soon as u can so that you can register for the nursing class and pick your clinical time. Oh she did mention about LVN not having their own mandatory information session, its all going to be in their handbook. About your insurance requirement, when you purchase it, make sure to make the effective date relevant to when you start your program. Like for RN student, insurance effective date is 2/6/12. For LVN, im assuming its somewhere in Janurary 2012. I dont remember the actual date she mention for lvn, sorry. But overall, there wasnt any specific due date for the drug test and insurance and background and physical exam. Its just the sooner the better. For example, if u do need the vaccination, then its best to start now. Because all of them require like 2 doses (xcept the hepatitis-need three series) that are couple weeks apart. And if u get all ur paperwork done, then the nursing department will let u register for class. Otherwise, its off limit until everything is clear. So its like first come first serve! I want to pick the teacher I want and the clinical time that I want. Oh right, for the background check, the website is like wat catsoleres said. Go to the website, click on "students" and enter the package code for ur specified program: AK48. And thats about it. I hope that helps. Oh by the way, has anyone here done their drug test and physical exam at the school health department before? The Care-a-Van? Because i found a few public health clinic and it suppose to be like a free or low cost clinic. I havent call them yet but here is the info if anyone wants it. In lancaster: Antelope public Health Center 661-723-4624 or 4511 Antelope valley community clinic 661-942-2391 in palmdale: Antelope public health center 661-575-0009 they offer immunizations, but for titer im not so sure. I will be calling them next week to find out. anyways, thanks everyone. Sorry for such a long post

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
Hey guys, So I attended the informational session today and thought I unferstood the immunization paperwork entirrly but now im a bit confused. Im gona ask -------- again on monday but if u guy can help answer my question before monday would be hgelpful lol. From wat I understand , you need to be vaccinated end get tb test before rntering the program. It said that u need two dose of measle/munp/rubella, two dose of chicken pox, three series of hepatitis b. A titer are rewuired if the last dose was more than five years prior to the physical exam. Well the problem I have is that I know for sure I jave been vaccinated with all these when I was little u know for schol requirement. The thing is I dont have the immumization record so I dont know the actual date of last vaccination. I do know its more than five years. Wt I want to know is can I just go ahead and get vaccinated or do I have to get a titer first? And if I am require to get a titer, and the titer show I do have the protection, does that mean I dont need to get the vaccine and just turn in my titer results only? But if titer show that im not protected, then I must get the vaccine? Is that how it works? im sorry I just feel so confused. I just wanted to get vaccinated and skip the whole titer thing. The problem is I dont know if I have been vacvinated before and titering can show if I do or not, but it wil cost alot more money to get titer! Anyways if anyone ben thru this can u please clarify the whole process for me. Thanks thanks a bunch!!!

@ MayeLVN, wow mayelvn, u gotten really lucky. I heard coc is hard to get it isnt it? Its a lottery system, thats how u get in? Well, thats what i heard anyways. So ur in the bridge program for coc then? Well, if luck comes and u got an AVC acceptance letter, then u can deny coc for avc instead lol. U never know what can happen lol even though they're only taking 20. Thats kinda weird to me, only 20? At least 30 or more. This whole budget thing at AVC is really killing our nursing department. Well, I just hope ill be the lucky one in the 40s. @catsoleres, glad u found the email. Are u in the generic program? Well hopefully we can meet during the info session. Im not sure wat day i would go yet cause of work, but im looking at either the 27 or the 28th of October. By the way, does anyone know if its ok to work during the program? I mean how stressful would it be? Because i seriously nned to work to pay off rents and things. Really sucks but i think I will definitely crashed during nursing while working. I dont even know how the schedule will be like! Its probably gonna be hectic!

Because the session is for those who are considered as potential students that might be in the spring program. If u have taken it the same day as me, then were about the same, so they should email u. Hoepfully its just a mix up. Go Find out so u can have some peacce of mind . Well i dont know hwen the list is going to be updated. All Karen told me is that teas test taking wont be done till end of October, so acceptance letter wont be out till mid-november. ok good luck

oh wow thanks MayeLVN. I actually just check my email on myavc. For some reason, I keep assuming they will contact you through the regular mailing letter. Totally forgot about checking my emails. Yes, thanks for clearing it up for me. I will be attending it, hoepfully on oct. 27. I am actually in the generic program, and the last time i check before i was scheduled for the teas test, I was around 50. So I'm really keeping my finger crossed to be acccept this coming semester. I hope you do too. Eight people is not that much so hopefully, you will get a spot. But wow, that really sucks if you cant get into the brigde this spring. That's like another year to go. Im really sorry. Have you try COC? Oh, and i didnt apply anywhere else. I only apply at AVC, so this is like my only chance. Well, hoepfully I will meet you at one of these informational session, and everyone else who is on this thread. Good luck to you too!!

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
hey MayeLVN, wat informational session? I havent heard from the department telling me to attend one. Is there one for this month? Im actually a little lost, can anyone attend the infomrational session, or just the people who got accepted into the program for next semester? Cause well, I just taken my teas on sept. 29, and I pass with a 79% (so happy, my sis with a 72%). Anyqways, the department told me that they wont be sending the acceptance letter until November. So, I guess Im assuming that maybe you're already accepted and theyre telling you to attend one. Haha im sorry MayeLVN. I dont know about this session, but i would like to go. Am I suppose to sign up for it? Can you tell me a bit about what it is? Thanks!

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
Hi NurseDalee, I heard the bridge program which is the lvn-rn program has at least a 2-3 years waiting list! Yes it is long. I think its better if you call in the departnment and find out yourself but i beleive wat i heard is correct because i came into the department asking about my waiting list rank and heard one of them telling a student on the phoen that it was going to be that long. Yes, i definitely agreee we need another college out here or they need to take in more students for the program every sememester. For COC i have no idea sorry. I am currently on the waitlist for the R program and so far, i have waited a year. I finally got the letter to take the teas test for the entrance into the program this spring so yeap. Well, goodluck to u! I hope you can find a lvn-rn program soon that dont have such a long waiting list.

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
hey everyone i just got a letter about taking the teas test on september 29. Im so nervous. Has anyone here got the letter yet or has taken the version V teas? How was it? I only got about 4-5 weeks to study so i dont really know how well i can do. Also, just wondering again, what is the lowest score avc nursing program accepts on the teas? Was it like around 65%???

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
Hey brittany 2241, congratulation!!! Happy for you!!!! Wow, you only have to wait 2 semester since your getting into fall 2011. Is that a letter to take the teas test to get into fall 2011 or you hav already taken the tease and will be offically starting the program in fall? Cuz i got a letter two months ago about being accepted into fall 2011 but i need to take the tease first. anyways i turn it down and told them I wont be able to get into the program until spring 2012 so i wont be taking the tease until somewhre in sept.

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
hi everyone, I just ask the department and yes, she said that they are only taking in 40 students for this fall and the coming spring semester. She said that it is more likely that youre going to be waiting a bit longer, possibly another semester. Hopefully, I can still get in the spring 2012.
-
Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
oh shoot are you serious??? So thats means it will actually take longer for us to get in now. Last time i check im #110. considering they take 60 students per semester, i would get in within like 2 semester. If theyre just taking 40 students then most likely it wont be till third/fourth semester. Oh man, i hope i still can get in the spring 2012! If not, maybe i should consider transfering. I think ill go to the department and talk to them, just to know wats going on and where i am standing. thanks for the info

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
haha its ok that u spell it wrong. Thanks both of you for the support. Thanks thirdwatch for sharing your personal story, that helps. I understand how you feel. I dont have any kids yet, but I understand how busy a mother can get and its hard to work or do anything else for yourself when you have a family. They come first. And places with too many clinical site is such a problem. Driving around to sites is already a hassle, especially if the sites are in two different city. Two clininical site is good enough but more than that is too much. I wont have enough time to familiarize myself with its surrounding and people. But yes, I am not ready for it yet. The whole time I really beleived I wont be in it till spring 12 but when the letter came I was so excited. Now that i am calm , I thought it over about how tight my schedule is as of right now and cant fit the test into it. I talk to the department this morning and they told me it was fine and that next sememster i can take it. They even told me it will be around september for the next testing which is great, now I can prepare myself even better knowing when to expect it. I will follow my instinct this time and postpone it. thanks skybmonkey for the suggestion on wat to study and expect. I really hope the rock stuff is not on it, its not even relevant to nursing! I do have trouble with math like you, I can do it but it takes a while especillay when u dont have a calculator in hand. The science, I would have to pull back on all my notes in anatomy, phy, and micro, chem to review it. I would have to look up math stuff online if it doesnt cover well in the study guide. About the clinical, wow skybmonkey, you really know everything. You are so ready for this!! That is nice that we get a chance to apply our knowlege that soon in the hospital, defintely will help us sharpen up and feel more confident in ourself before we graduate. Yeah!! I cant wait for the injection part. Thats my favorite, learning to draw blood and those IV stuff. Recently, I turn in my application to the av hospital for volunteering and hopefully they will let me volunteer. I think that would help me get to know the place before I get into the program. Again thanks everyone. And good luck in everything. Thirdwatch, I hope everything will work out for you so that you dont have to say no again when the next offering of the program comes around. Thanks again everyone!!! I know i say that alot already haha.

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
to thirdwatch, oh wow ur lucky that u can take it anytime. They schedule me in april which sucks when its in the middle of smemester with all the mid exams going on. I wish we got to pick our dates. Wait, do u live here in the antelope valley or Las Vegas? U can actually take the teas at any location correct or does it have to be at your own school? Im thinking of going to talk to the department tomorrow about changing to it till next semester for the test and see wat they said. 30 hr/week sound good enough. I probably will try to keep it at that amount of hours too. Cant go school without working, someone has to pay the bills . and yeah i saw the study guide on amazon. it was alot cheaper too but I decided to get the online asssesment just so i get a feeling of how the test gonna be. I get really nervous when I have to take atest that has time limits. I get really scare thinking I wont finisht the section in time. It's so weird though, I do well on all other tests in school but anything have to do with a time limitation, I freeze. haha well thanks thirdwatch. Hopefully you will get into the program soon and ill meet u one day.

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
Thirdwatch, Thank you very much!! Im excited too . Are you taking the teas test soon as well? Yes, that is wat I heard also, online pratice test is much harder than the actual one. Some people did like at least 10 points better on the actual exam than the practice. There is a thread on this site about the test and it has suggestion from people who has already taken it. It sounds really helpful, you might wanna check that out if youre taking it soon. Anyways, I think im about to make an important decision, I hope its not wrong. Im thinking of defering the tease test till next semester, that means I wont be in it till spring 2012 for sure. Even though I could take it now and might possibly be place in fall 2011 but I decided that its too soon for me. With classes that I have now and with my brother and his family moving in soon, and trying to look for a job ...too many things happening all at once. I think its best if I be in the program in spring 2012 when everything is calm again. Plus, fall term off I can just concentrate on the study guide for the test and work. Does anyone think its not a good idea to have a part time job if youre in the program??

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
hey everyone, great news. I just got a letter telling me that i have permission to take the teas V test. if spot is open in fall 2011 then im in. But here is wat I would like to ask for those already taken the test. Im so nervous!!! Im planning to buy the manual and the two online asessment from the atitestin.com site. Anyways any advice on wat to expect and study? Also, if you guy dont mind, can u please tell me what was the overal score you have for the teas V? I just want to get a feel on the score range people are getting at AVC. I heard the version 5 is much harder than all the previous one. Oh also, I havent ask the department wat the satisfactory score to pass the teas yet but does anyone by any chance know wat it is? I think its 62, but correct me if I am wrong. Anyone im excited to take the test but im also worry about my sis who is both working and taking class at avc, im scare she wont have the time to study it. The test is not until april 21 so we got a month to study. Im excited about it all but Im thinking maybe i should defer the testing till next semester when im i have fall term off. Better prepare to study I guess. So yes, if anyone has alrady taken it, please give so advice or tell us about ur experience. thank you every one!!! oh btw skybmonkey. thanks for telling me about the clinical. That is great were gonna have at both places!!! But we actually strt clinical right begining of first semesster??? wow! I didnt expect its that early, i thought it would be around the third semester. I guess, the earlier u get the feel of things in the hospital, the better it is. And yes, Im alrady worrying about the cost of the program. even though i have financial aid (grants) but now im not so sure if that is enough. Im trying to look for a job now to help pay for the expense. Anyways thanks for ur reply and help. U been alot help to the people on this thread

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
hi skybmonkey, thanks for the encouragement. I finally did get through to the right person and sure enough, the person I talk to earlier did gave me false info. I guess I can understand why they could have given the wrong info. Some of them are really stress out everyday cuz everyone wants to know what their rank are and when they will get in. I am actually #110 and havent change since january. This is nice to hear though, at least I can know for sure I will be put in spring 2012, if everything goes accordingly and no more budget cuts that will affect the number of students theyre taking in. Anyways, I think I will check back after spring ends, because I think that is when the next 60 students or so will enter the fall program and so my rank should decrease hopefully around 50-60. Well good luck to you, you're getting into the fall program rite? I just talk to an old friend of mine and she just took her teas last week. It was great, went well for her. She will be in the fall semester. By the way, since we just have the new hospital in Palmdale, do you think we will do our clinical there ? Or even both the AV hospital too? It would be kind of nice to alternate our clinical in both hospital, would help us to get to know different kind of environment.

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
Hey guys, just let u all know wat is my ranking rite now on the waitng list at AVC nursing program. I turn in my application in nov 2010 and was at # 204. Then in early January I was at #110. Recently I went back to ask them, im #124 which was odd, I dont know why my ranking just went up more. Should of went down. But it doesnt matter, because the lady there told me that I mostly wont get in till spring 2012. So that would be 2 or 3 semester wait ( spring 11, fall 2011, spring 2012) . I really hope I get in this fall 2011, but so far, havent heard from them telling me to take the tease test yet. Anyways good luck to all of u!!! Turn in ur application as soon as possible.

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
thanks skybmonkey for the info. and congratulation on getting into the program for u and ur friend. I hope you both can have the same semester. it would be nice to graduate together. Yeah I turn mine in oct 2010 and they told me my number was 204 in november. but I check couple days ago and found out im at 110. So im very happy. Maybe I will get in fall 11 as well, i just hope so because I really dont want to wait till spring 11. But if thats the only choice then it's okay. So can I ask you if they already send a letter home to you and your friend saying that youre both consider for fall 11 admission so you need to take a teas test? Because I really dont know how they will inform the student about their admission into the following semester and when, where, how to take the teas. I only got a letter the other day about how the teas test will be change from a version 4 to 5.0. And that the next schedule teas test at AVC is in feb/march. But it didnt mention about how I would be consider for fall 2011 admission so I guess I dont have to working bout taking the test yet. thanks in advancce for your reply. Who knows, i might even be in the same nursing semester as you. That would be cool. But I guess in the meantime, I hope everything works well for you and good luck to you and ur friend on taking the teas test =) Thirdwatch: Wow, your supervisor is pretty harsh on you. I dont think she is a very nice instructor. But hey Im glad your co-worker got into another place. I guess it is kinda a 3 semester wait but oh well, right now most of the program in other area has a waiting list too. Commuting is not a convience thing for me right now. Attending a university is too expensive for me now so I rather stick to someth place closer to home.

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
I didn't see a thread on AVC nursing so I just made one for everyone. IS anyone applying to AVC nursing or in the program already? The person working at the department told me it would be like 3 semester waits. I'm expecting to get in around fall 2011 or spring 2012 since I turn in my application around October 2010. Anyone in the program already, would you please share your experience. Anyone who is about to get in the program, can you please tell me how long you've waited since the time you turn in the application? Thanks everyone!!!
