  1. Is anyone gonna be starting spring 2016? I just got accepted.
  2. I just got accepted and going to start spring 2016 :-)
  3. I'm in the process of applying and should know within a few weeks :-)
  4. I'm an LPN in a primary care office. I'm in Massachusetts. Here they still hire lpns in doctors offices.
  5. $24.13 in a primary care office in Massachusetts.
  6. I'm an LPN and going for my ADN. I'm just tired of doing RN work for LPN pay. Plus I'm looking forward to more opportunities. I probably won't go back for my BSN unless my job requires it.
  7. So I made a clinical judgment error on Friday. I am going to be written up and possibly face more disciplinary action. I feel so ashamed of myself. I let my stress get to me and affect my performance at work. At this point, I no longer want to be a nurse because I feel I just might not be able to handle it. I'm dreading going to work on Monday and having anxiety just thinking about it. I feel so humiliated that my coworkers probably think the worst of me right now. Any advice?
  8. That's good, at least you liked it.
  9. Started LPN school in August and I have to say I seriously dislike my program (for many reasons:uhoh3:) Will not get into all the details though. I have made good friends and I love clinicals but am finding it very hard and stressful to work full time and go to school full time while still making time for family, friends, boyfriend, etc. Working less hours is unfortunately not an option but I am fortunate enough to have a job that allows me to study during slow periods. Any nurses out there who survived nursing school have any words of wisdom? How did you juggle everything? HOW DID YOU DO IT ???
  10. Hi everyone!!! So it was a difficult process getting everything together for school (entrance exam, interview, seat deposit, financial aid, etc) but I am IN!!! My name is Altaira and I'm attending Shawsheen Valley Tech in MA for the LPN program starting the last week in August. Very nervous but excited. Good luck everyone!
  11. DON'T GIVE UP!!! :) It was your first day, so of course the first day of anything you're bound to feel a little nervous. Plus, it's different from learning something in theory, then actually going out there and doing it for the first time!!! I know how you feel with anxiety, I get it too. The best thing to do is to take a deep breath and think to yourself, What is the exact reason I'm so nervous? Once you figure out that answer, you can train your brain to calm down and think of solutions. Confidence comes with experience. Watch your fellow students/instructors how they do it, and follow protocol and eventually you will feel better about doing things. Best of luck to you!
  12. now now now!!!! :) send out your resume to every LPN job you see online, in the paper, etc. Even though it is two months away you can still network every chance you get. And you may get a job lined up for you once you pass your NCLEX PN!! Best of luck to you.
  13. Hi there, I am in the same boat as you. I'm going to a full time LPN program in the fall and yes I will be working full time as well. (morning hours) It will be hard but don't let people get you down about it. Yes you will have to study every free chance you get but it will be worth it. Unfortunately I am one of those unlucky people with lots of bills too, lol. Not much to be done about it but I am very determined, if I want something bad enough I make time for it. Plus you can use a vaca/sick day every now and then if you have a big test coming up. Best of luck to you.
  14. Hey everyone, I am so happy to say that I finally got into nursing school, :) yes its *only* LPN but I'm one of those unlucky ones who have to work while going to school haha and it fits in better with my work schedule and finances. Just wanted to know if anyone else has been accepted to this program or graduated from this program and what should I expect from it?
  15. I live north of Boston. There are a few places about half an hour from where I live, like Roxbury CC and Shawsheen Valley Tech in Billerica.
  16. To all the Massachusetts LPNs out there... I'm thinking of doing the LPN plunge... so i'm trying to gather as much information as possible. If you could please tell me what school you went to, where you work now, how do you like it, your experiences, etc... Was it hard for you to get a job?? Any responses will help! Thanks!
  17. I guess I am very confused on what to do. I'm 22, live in MA, and I've been working as a medical assistant for 1 year. I have tried to get into an RN program in the past, however, although I did get into the schools themselves, I was not accepted into the RN program due to all the applicants that they receive. So what I was thinking of doing is going to an LPN program. Because of my financial situation (lots of bills and I have to pay for school myself) I cannot afford to not work full time for more than a year. At least if I go to LPN school, I'd be a nurse in a year and be able to find a job. Maybe even go on to get my BSN. My only thing is, I'd love to do my RN now, but I do not have the money. I was also reading some posts on becoming an army nurse and they pay your tuition to become an RN. I am just not sure if I want to enter the Army. I want to be a nurse so bad and just feel very unlucky in this situation. What would any of you recommend? Do you work as an RN or LPN and how has your experiences been?
  18. i didnt make it for this fall, but i called them and they sent me a brochure of information and the dates for the nln testing. i already bought the book to study but am not sure yet if i wanna take the course that they offer since the cost is almost $300. for those of you who already started the program, was the admissions process hard? how are the classes so far? i currently work as a medical assistant in a doctors office. it is not the best job but ive gained valuable medical field experience. i really want to go on to get my LPN.
  19. Hey there, is anybody enrolled in the Shawsheen Valley Tech LPN program?? if so, how do you like it and would you recommend it? I am trying to apply for this fall. Anybody else trying to get in?? :)
