  1. I got mine last Wednesday and said I was accepted. However, I'm giving up my seat. I applied for the N/W schedule. This is the third time I have given up my spot. It's just not working out for me. Whoever was on first on the waiting list should get a call from the school. Good luck to you all! My next target is Fall of 2013 if they have N/W then.
  2. Congratulations to those who got in!!!
  3. Sugarbee, when did you apply for Worksource? Was it for 2012 or last year? I heard that they changed some of the requirements.
  4. This is to anyone who is kind enough to share their experiences while studying nursing at FSCJ. I am planning on going in the Summer 2012. Did you guys have to have a laptop while in school? Is the laptop required? I want to know before I'll invest in one. About the books - I learned that there is a box of books I have to buy. Are these books good for the entire program (4 Terms) or do I have to buy a box of books every term? Thanks in advance for your suggestions and replies.
  5. Which Worksource did you go to? Can I put in my application now for the Summer or do I have to wait until I have the acceptance letter? By the way, I was accepted twice already (Fall 2011 & Spring 2012) but had to decline it. How's everybody doing in the program so far? You guys are halfway there.
  6. WilburW, can I ask about the 150% appeal. Was it because you had a degree already or just took more classes. I have a B.S. already and FA denied me. Where did you go to see an adviser? Was it at the North campus? Thanks for any info you can share.
  7. hi misswhitney, Are you the same misswhitney that used to work at Publix, then worked at Specialty, and you are now at Shands? You moved up fast. I'm not a stalker not at all. I just like reading people's post from their nursing days to the employment world. And I see FLMom is working now too. I hope to be a nurse one day if I can find financial assistance. I'll keep plugging away until that day comes.
  8. This question(s) is for N/W students currently in their first term at FSCJ. I read somewhere on this thread that Monday is always test day. Can you give me the specific times (start to finish) for each night and weekend? I want to make sure I have my schedule arranged accordingly because I work full time and have school-age children. Does it usually start at 6pm and ends at 9 or 10 or the teacher dismisses the class early sometimes? Are classes held from Monday to Friday and clinicals on Saturday? Thanks for the info. This will help me decide.
  9. Thank you misswhitney. I'll start from there.
  10. I know this thread is over two years ago but misswhitney I need to ask you a question about Worksource. I was accepted for Fall 2011 but had to decline because I don't have the money. How did you go about Worksource and where did you apply? What about the Worksource on the north campus? Is this a different one too? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
  11. I was accepted for Fall 2011 but had to decline my seat and will try for Spring 2012. I have general questions since you'll have gone thru this already. For the meantime, I'll start planning on the costs and the requirements. For CPR/BLS, where did you go and how much? Is there a cheaper place to get certified? For the tithers (sp), immunizations, and medical, where did you go and how much? For fingerprints? Shoes and uniforms? Books? I'm on a budget. I don't qualify for financial aid because I have a degree already and I'm over the 150% rule. I don't have extra money for all these stuff. Did anyone of you apply for Worksource and were you approved? I do work but $14/hr doesn't cut it after mortgage, car payment, food, utilities, you do the math. Any info I can gather right now will help me. Thanks.
  12. Congrats to everybody! I'm also accepted nights/weekends but I'm going to decline my seat. I'm sad but I can't afford it this time. I will reapply for next term. All, enjoy the journey and good luck!!!
  13. The NAT would not be so bad if it's not for time restrictions. There are so many questions with very limited time. I agree with you on the part where someone could have A's, B's, and C's and get lucky on the NAT and they are in. Because if you think about it the NAT comprises 50% of the points.
  14. Hope you don't mind me asking. What was your score? I'm a Fall 2011 hopeful but I'll be applying nights/weekends because I can't afford to quit my job. I just want to make sure I have enough points to get there.
  15. I'm applying for Fall 2011 nights/weekends. I will have 207.5 points. Will this be enough to get me into the n/w program? Thanks.
  16. Congrats to all summer nursing students!!! I will be applying in the fall for nights/weekends. Will 207 points get me there?
  17. [quote I spoke to a VERY reliable source just yesterday about where the nights/weekends classes will be held and she said it will definately be in the Deerwood Campus. Apparently, FSCJ has a rotating schedule, all the way out to 2044 (!), of where the N/W classes will be held. Fall term will be in Deerwood, then get this...there will be N/W classes for Spring 2011 term (also in Deerwood) but no N/W classes for Summer 2011 term. Then the N/W will start back up again for Fall 2011 term, but at the North Campus. So, anytime you have questions of where the classes will be located, they can just look at the predetermined schedule and advise you (good thing to know!) Are you sure that Fall 2011 N/W will be held at North Campus? Someone posted on another thread that it will be at Deerwood. I live close to the northside area and if it's in Deerwood I need to shift things around. I kept calling the Nursing dept. but I only got voicemails. Thanks.
  18. For those wondering if Chem without lab is ok for Fall 2011, yes it's ok. I just confirmed it with the Program Dir. at North Campus.
  19. Ops, I meant to say Phi Theta Kappa....
  20. I'm a Fall 2011 n/w hopeful as well. I was planning to be in the summer but I just found out they are not offering n/w. So Fall here I come. Will 203 get me in night/weekend spot? I could take the NAT again to boost my NAT score. Good luck to everyone!!!
  21. Orchid0270, I will try Worksource and Sallie May (thanks for the idea). I was invited to join Thi Theta Kappa so I might just do that and perhaps I can apply for scholarships through them. Is that a good idea? Does anyone here a Thi Theta Kappa member? My brain is in overdrive trying to find ways on how to finance my nursing education. Maybe we should have a petition for students who are in the 150% rule who are career changer, change goals, low income, 35 and above. Someone out there should help us.
  22. So there is no N/W for Summer 2011? Where is N/W Fall 2011 going to be? Is it at the North Campus? Thanks.
  23. Good luck to you!!! I have 191 points excluding Micro which I'm taking this semester. I will turn in my application for the Summer to see what happens. I'm not optimistic to be accepted but at least it will give me an idea of the cut off score when I apply for Fall. My first NAT wasn't that great so I'm planning of taking it again but I'll wait till I get a word from the Nursing dept.
  24. I turned in my appeal at North campus last Monday because of the 150% rule placed against my financial aid. I was so bummed to find out on Connections that my appeal is denied. I am so down and don't know what to do. I work full time but my husband is unemployed and we have two young girls both in school. I'm thinking of going to Worksource. Do you think Worksource will help me? I'm a bit confused though, it said my appeal is denied but next to my Current Program of Study which is Nursing, it said financial aid approved. But I think I'm not eligible. I'm so sad. I'm hoping to start this summer. Anyone has any advice on what to do? Should I go talk to an academic advisor? There goes my weekend.
  25. I don't have a problem about performance; I have a problem for not being able to afford it. But, if there's a will, there's a way, right... Mercy me.
