maybe what you may want to do is work per diem with a hospital directly. if you work for kaiser northern California you can have an hourly base of $95 with 8 years of experience. and as NedRN said L&D is hot because well you know why lol. Theres a position at the moment paying $3100/36/hrs (travel contract) good luck
  2. Hey Yes! How is the area? Are you coming back to see the eclipse?
  3. Wow!!! You had guts! But better to have something secured then to move clear across the country and still work far from home! Thank you for sharing your experience I really appreciate!!
  4. I'll be honest I was scared that I would miss out on the opportunity... day shift has been slim pickings. I will def take your advice if I ever find myself in this predicament. I'm going to hold off and do per diem until a really good crisis rate comes up. Yes they do throw a hissy hit about 3 day schedules. I'll research better next time!
  5. Okay understandable, they are recruiting hard for one in Northern California. I'm not a fan of working 5-6 days in a row... the winter rates for L&D are crap with kaiser I'm holding out for something really good!
  6. Really!!? Wow good to know! The break down was 70/hr for the first 40hrs 105 after 40 work weeek is 48hrs/week per diem 245/week then $800 travel reimbursement. Hospital is providing housing total of $3885/week gross. Now that you say that I don't feel so terrible. Do you work strikes?
  7. Ugh Ned I could kick myself for this! I shouldn't have thought Fastaff was the highest paying! I sucked it up and just went with them and have learned a VALUABLE lesson! 1. I didn't want to come off as sketchy to Valley so next assignment if there is something I'm considering I'll call them first! Oh Aureus just told me what they are paying! I feel nauseatedí ½í¸© Is it okay if I post it here?
  8. I love to share valley medical staffing is the agency. It's for the solar eclipse in Oregon. Your right for 3 weeks it's not worth the hassle or possibly burning bridges over "$234" a week. Lesson definetly learned! I was being eager beaver. I'm waiting for crisis rates in Cali, do you know why kaiser changes rates mid contract? Again thank you for your advice!!
  9. Hey thanks for the reply! I broke it down it was a difference of $234 a week. The first company is Fastaff and would not budgeí ½í¸• I've learned a lesson don't be so quick to be submitted! Is it normal that Fastaff won't negotiate? I've negotiated with other companies before. It's only a 3 week assignment so I won't be salty for long.
  10. I submitted with one company had an interview and received an offer( I have not accepted or declined) However I would like to accept the same job just using another company, they are paying significantly more. Any suggestions thank you
  11. It was 7.5 weeks. I mailed my finger prints in and my application I submitted online. A couple of people have posted with quick turn a round times as well! Good luck
  12. I just received my license number today submitted my nursys on September 8 and the application on September 29th received it November 3!!!! They are moving fast. I mailed my fingerprints and uploaded my picture and application online.
  13. Everyone is offered an epidural. Just because the baby has died does not lessen the pain of labor. And is practice allowed by the OB?🤔
  14. TREC96 replied to obrn99's topic in Travel
Yeah that sounds really confusingí ½í¸• I would ask for another recruiter ASAP. I'm L&D going to start my second travel assignment in November. What state are you going too?

  17. Hi I work on a labor unit and most of our patients are preeclamptic, hypertensive.... I have never seen a policy on such either. as for monitoring them we do serial BP's and not much else unless they are on mag then mag levels are taken every 6 hours
  18. Hi yes I still work there, from interview to hire is a long process I would take what ever u can get and if they call you then you make ur Decision based on that don't give up an offer I have for a "possible"
  19. I work at Harlem and on my unit they have 2 new agency nurses and several new grads
  20. I work there and as for after dark id be nervous walking on 23 street in the dead of the night.... if you are going to be a nurse there you'll be working flex so you get there 7:10-7:20 evening commuters all around going home and when you leave it will be 8am very bright outside... but hey you can get robbed anywhere anytime soho upper westside doesnt matter..... hope that helped
