  1. To add to that other message, I found out that I can't do clinicals in Louisiana as a GWU student. So my plan is to just travel to Missouri to do my clinicals. Fortunately, I have that as an option so I will still move next year as planned.
  2. I'm moving back to Louisiana next year so I really was wanting to get into Texas Tech, but George Washington was my second choice.
  3. I'm looking for nurse practitioner preceptors in St. Louis. I'm going through the list on the npfinder website, but I'm sure I will need more just in case. Please message me if you know anyone in the area. I'm in the MSN/FNP program through George Washington University. Thank you, Lorri
  4. Not sure of how many students are accepted, but I think the program is 3 years PT.
  5. No, I was accepted into George Washington University. I wanted Texas Tech because I was planning on moving back home to Louisiana and GWU is having problems with La. State Board. I currently live in MO so it looks like I'll be here for another 2 years (until I pass boards). Did you apply to Texas Tech?
  6. 1. George Washington University 2. MSN, FNP 3. Working part-time 4. School full-time 5. Extremely excited to start school, but going to really enjoy all of this free time during the summer...Good luck to everyone!!
  7. I'm in the Fall 2011 FNP class...Looking forward to meeting all of you in August at orientation.
  8. No interview, just the essay. I had to log on to the GW application site to see my acceptance letter.
  9. Good luck NCNurse...I have 6 years experience as an LPN and 6 years experience as an RN. My GPA for my ASN was 3.5 and I'll finish my BSN in 2 weeks with a GPA of 3.9. I completed both my ASN (Excelsior) and my BSN online. I didn't do any other testing like MAT or GRE. I hope you get your acceptance letter soon....Good luck again.
  10. Congrats on getting into USI. I would do the 4 year program if I were you and let my employer pay since you already have so much debt. I agree that it will probably go faster than you think!!
  11. Congrats to you!!!
  12. I received my acceptance from GWU last week...good luck to all of you!!
  13. Just posting an update....found out that I was accepted into The George Washington University FNP program for fall 2011!!! Excited and kinda scared, but ready to get started!!
  14. I applied to GWU using Nursing CAS and thought it was a waste of time to enter all of my classes along with having official transcripts sent!..Thankfully, I was able to get it all in before the due date. I actually just received my acceptance letter to GWU, so I guess it was worth it! Good luck!
  15. Hello everyone, I completed applications for the online FNP programs at USI, George Washington University and Texas Tech University within the last week. Any info of your experience with these schools would be much appreciated. Thanks, HappyNProud
  16. Thanks TonieRN...Good luck to you too!!
  17. Hello all, I'm in the process of completing applications for the online FNP programs at University of Southern Indiana, George Washington University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Can anyone give me information about your experience with either of them? Thanks for sharing
  18. i work 2200-0830 monday-thursday. i'm the only full time night shift pacu rn. there is also a part time rn who works the same hours on tuesday and wednesday. the on call person comes in on monday and thursday (call is from 2300-0730). weekend option covers friday-sunday. we also have 8's, 10's and 12's on day shift. i'm in a large level 1 trauma center in st louis city. it works well for us.
  19. yes, MO recognizes EC--i worked as an LPN before doing EC. Also work with another RN in the ER at a Level 1 Trauma Center who was a medic before EC. Good Luck!!
  20. thanks to all who responded--i did apply and accept the position in the PACU---scheduled to start on aug 18th--excited about learning new things--will keep you all posted
  21. if you want to do LPN first, i say go for it---i also needed to make money fast and support my three children after a divorce. i attended the LPN program at West County Tech 98-99 (cost approx $7500) at that time--i think the program has moved, but they can give you information about it if you call the school---i made more money as an LPN than I made the first 2 years of being an RN--it can work--i also worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday at St. John's as a medical asst at a psychiatry office while i was in school. I am glad I went on to RN school, but i had to do what i had to do at the time--the course was 1 year, wasn't easy and you have to dedicate a lot of time to it, but it can be done btw, i've heard the tale that "they are phasing out lpn's" since i went to lpn school--hasn't happened yet--i was an lpn for 5 years before completing rn school and worked full time doing all sorts of things from research nurse to med surg to psych--good luck
  22. HAPPYNPROUD posted a topic in PACU
Hi all, i'm getting burned out in the level 1 trauma center ED that I currently work in---i'm scheduled to shadow in the PACU in the next couple of weeks. What can you guys tell me about transitioning from ED Charge Nurse to PACU? Thanks to all who respond.
  23. graduated 2004, was an lpn for 6 years prior to that, working in level 1 trauma center as charge nurse now and full time bsn student, planning on msn after that
