LSUHSC CARE Program Information
Hi Kitty: I replied to your post today. I am currently at Charity. I am not an LPN but I know people who are and all of them went back to school for RN. You said that you don't work right now. There is a big gap in cost of tuition between the two schools. You are already at Delgado which I think may help you being an applicant. Have you looked at part-time jobs? How about trying to work in a pharmacy or a hospital? Some places will work with your schedule and you could work every other weekend or a few days a week. In the long run it is your decision but you will have more options as an RN than LPN. Both schools are good but it's your choice of RN in 2 yrs or BSN in 3 yrs. Remember there are online BSN options too after Charity. Or just apply to both schools and then make a decision. Just trying to help. Good luck.

LSU CARE RN program
Hi. Thanks for inquiring. I ended up going to Delgado-Charity School of Nursing. It would be better to ask someone on the Louisiana forums about the CARE program. Good luck to you.

I Finally Got My Acceptance Letter For Lpn Class
Congrats to all who have been accepted to LPN school!! I have faith I will be able to shout the same for this coming August07 semester. To gentlegiver: I read your post. It brought tears to my eyes how your father was able to know before his passing that you were going to nursing school. I know how it feels to lose a parent, as my father passed in 2003 and I didn't get a chance to tell him that I was pursuing a nursing career. He was there for my other degrees though. I'm sure your dad is in heaven now, smiling and cheering you on. Good luck to everyone :balloons:

LSU CARE RN program
Hi everyone. I just heard recently about LSU School of Nursing in New Orleans having a CARE 2yr RN program where you get a BSN in 2 years. I have sent an email to the person on their website and haven't heard anything. I just have questions about the pre-reqs which if I'm missing I could take in the summer and fall since I missed deadline for fall 07 semester. Is anyone on here in the program or know someone who is that could tell me what classes they took and what made their application competitive versus other students. My GPA is over a 3.0, which is the minimum requirement and I have a bachelors degree which I need as an applicant. Can somebody PM me or list their classes they had taken on here who was actually accepted? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm applying to Nunez's LPN program also and if anyone has insight on that too, that would be great. Sheree

Game: Name that smelly drug
I work in retail pharmacy. An antibiotic called Cleocin comes in granule form and it smells like rotten eggs. It is so hard to mix...you keep shaking it and shaking it and it's thick. Just plain nasty. They usually give this to children. Poor little ones. Others that plain stink that I can think of...Glucophage XR 1000mg, Armour Thyroid. Pew!

What to do with old nursing books?
I sold some textbooks to findmybooks.com. They send you a check within 24 hours of receiving your books and shipping is free. Just follow the steps on the site and they will tell you up front how much they will pay you. They you print the mailing label and pricing label (how much they agree to pay). I found it to be very easy. They also send you an e-mail to verify the agreement. If I remember correctly, once you agree to sell, you have to send them within 7 days or so. Very easy. Hope this helps
