  1. Thanks so much guys, you're the best! I agree with puppy_eyes88, the posts here are really inspiring :) tron22: Thanks, I didn't know that the number there was already my license number :)
  2. strawlishe: my PRC license is not yet available coz I'm a fresh board passer. Does that mean I can't apply yet?
  3. Thanks for the replies. Which hospitals require ACLS? Coz I thought hospitals only require IVT and BLS...
  4. I'm thinking of undergoing ACLS/ECG training by CCNAPI. However, it's P5,000 for five days! Will it really help further my career, will it be worth it? Thanks in advance.
  5. Hello. What are the requirements to apply to Medical City? I just passed the November 2009 board so I have yet to obtain my PRC license nor board certificate.
  6. Thanks for the suggestions johnarigo_31! :)
  7. Where did you get the training enitsrik? :) I called Veterans Memorial Medical Center, PGH, Heart Center, they all require a PRC license card.
  8. Thanks for the suggestion eunichan. T checked the website and they require a PRC license. I called PHC and they also require a PRC license, not just the claim stub.
  9. Do you have a PRC license card johnarigo_31? I would like to start IV therapy training ANYWHERE. Unfortunately most hospitals require a PRC license card first.
  10. Love_RN: I know! Do you know of a hospital for IVT that accepts fresh board passers without a physical PRC license card?
  11. Since I just passed the November 2009 board, I have yet to possess a physical PRC license. Would you know of any ANSAP-accredited hospital that will accept me for IV therapy? Thank you all in advance!
  12. Yes I've been reading the threads. Thanks for the advice Silverdragon102 :)
  13. Good day. I'd like to ask for advice on what route my wife and I should take on going to British Columbia. I looked at the CIC website and found three ways for us to go there. 1) Temporary work permit 2) Permanent resident as a skilled worker 3) Provincial nominee of BC under Strategic Occupations I just passed the Philippine board exam for nurses. I have ZERO work experience. I have a job offer as a paid staff nurse at a secondary hospital here in the Philippines. My wife has been working for 1 year. Her profession is under Skill Level B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). I took the self-assessment test and found we earn enough points to qualify as a skilled worker. My aunt lives in British Columbia. She is willing to help us out, let us stay with her, help us look for jobs. My wife and I have relatives willing to lend money for proof of funds, payable in 3 years. What route do you think we should take? Advice will be greatly appreciated.
  14. For the 2-3 year hospital experience, do they consider working as a paid staff nurse at a secondary hospital as experience?
  15. Hello roseller02. Can I ask for the website or contact info of your recruiter? I just passed the Philippine board exam, so I have zero work experience. Can H1B visa for me be even considered by your employer in Saipan? I'm prepared to take the NCLEX, and have a US tourist visa. Thanks a lot.
  16. My aunt lives in British Columbia with her family. I came across the CIC website and found this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/relatives-apply-who.asp Who can be sponsored You can sponsor: parents grandparents brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, granddaughters or grandsons who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship another relative of any age or relationship but only under specific conditions (see Note below) accompanying relatives of the above (for example, spouse, partner and dependent children). Note: you can sponsor one relative regardless of age or relationship only if you do not have a living spouse or common-law partner, conjugal partner, a son or daughter, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece who could be sponsored as a member of the family class, and you do not have any relative who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or registered as an Indian under the Indian Act. Who cannot be sponsored Other relatives, such as brothers and sisters over 18, or adult independent children cannot be sponsored. However, if they apply to immigrate under the Skilled Worker Class, they may get extra points for adaptability for having a relative in Canada. -------------------------- I'm confused. Does this mean she cannot sponsor me because I'm over 18? What about the "Note" part. My aunt is financially well-off so that's not a problem. Need help interpreting the website.
  17. Thanks for the replies. I was just worried that employers abroad might not consider being an RN at a secondary hospital as experience.
  18. Oh darn, the PRC card takes so long...I'm getting nervous and want to have a job...
  19. My friend is now in the UK, her 2 years using student visa is almost up. With regards to the low pay as caregiver, yes the pay is low by UK standards but she was able to send money back to the Philippines monthly. She helped send her many siblings to school. I don't know what her next step will be though. But if we're talking about being able to recoup her investment in going to the UK as a caregiver using student visa, yes she was able to. She's not sad at all because she knew what she was getting into, that it was in the capacity of a caregiver. FYI I'm neither for nor against this, just sharing the experience of my friend.
  20. janfrn thank you :) Wow, seems it's so expensive, since I have to renew my registration every year.
  21. Always wear a mask, wear gloves and wash your hands.
  22. Thanks rafaeltoney :) Now the hard part of getting a job begins... Shucks, I don't have a Canadian visa. I do have a US tourist visa (as if that matters). Once I register with CRNBC and pay the $268, do I ever have to re-register again? Does BC only consider as experience, a paid RN job at a tertiary hospital? Coz there are lots of opportunity for good training here in the Philippines, or I can work as a paid RN at a secondary hospital. It's just hard to find a job as a paid RN at a tertiary hospital.
  23. They can probably help you look for a job but can't do anything about retrogression.
