  1. I have been accepted too and have already enrolled for my first class. I am new on this. I have never done online programs and this is my fist degree in the USA. I am nervous but will give my best. hope we can help each other.
  2. I just complete my application. I hope they give me response soon. I am also gonna start in January( f accepted). I have read that some students get their acceptance letter even few weeks before courses start.
  3. How are you doing right now? It’s been a bit now. I’ve been an RN SINCE 2015
  4. My advise for you is to buy only the QBANK I only used that. I could not afford for the courses or the Qtrainers... The Qbank is enough to practice and if you study it thoroughly you will PASS!!!!Memorize lab values, study hard about obstetrics, pediatrics, Developmentsl milesstones, Ericksons and Pagets development theories, isolation protections, pain is almost never the first priority unless it is related with the circulatory or respiratory system. Respiratory is never priority in patients with COPD, Lung Cancer and Chronic respiratory diseases ( just acute respitaroty failures are priority) or when Sat02 is below 90. Always remember the nursing process, FIRST ASSESS , then immplement!! Study a little bit about pharmacology, dont focus so much on that because you will never learn them all...
  5. Hello. First of all. a Brief introduction. I am a mexican educated RN, I have 2 yrs experience, I studied english on my own since I was 16. I am 26 yrs old now, and I studied for the NCLEX using KAPLAN ( THE BEST), Saunders, and Hurst. Some of Nclex RN 4000 questions too. I applied for TEXAS BON Study material: Kaplan: The best to get used to the exam structure and to learn strategies to answer the Nclex-style questions. If you can't afford the whole Qtrainers and the online course, just buy the QBank, that's enough to pass as lons as you study every rationale, even though you answer it right! They are about 1300 questions, answer them all. I answered them in 10 days. Don't freak out at the beginning from your scores. My worst scores were 24% and 35% at the beginning. After that, my last 6 to 7 scores with the last 400 questions were over 60. You will do great after a couple of days if you study hard!!!!!!! Like 5-8 hours a day or even more if you can. Aim for a 60. Saunders: I read it but when I was on page 500 I thought it was too much information to memorize so I decided to study only some common subjects and basic stuff. I also answered about 1300 questions from the CD scoring from 50 to 72% at my last practice tests made of 100 questions each one. Hurst: I did not study the questions, just important stuff from the Book Review. You can get good advices to pick up the right answer when you don't know it, specially at Pharmacology questions. GOSHH!! I got many of them.. I HATED IT!! Also practiced many questions from the online software called 4000 or 4500 questions, something like that. Very useful too.I think I answered an overall of 3000 or more questions to study for the NCLEX, the more you practice, the better. NCLEX -RN DAY As I live in Monterrey, Mexico, I had to travel to Texas by bus (5 hours drive) stayed at a hotel in Harlingen , Tx and then I took the test the next day. I could not sleep a night before. I slept all the afternoon and then woke up at 1:00 am and started studying and practicing like lab values, cranial nerves, basics of nursing, you know, general stuff. If you have just few more hours of study before your test, do not focus on the specific areas, but the most general. I arrived at the test center at 7:30 after a 30 minutes walk from the hotel, I felt weird walking alone at that hour. My test started at 8:00. You know, the test did not seem to me so difficult as I thought or as most people say. Kaplan seems harder to me. I was almost sure that the computer would shut off at 75 with a passing score, but it didn´t!!!!!!. I was schoked when I saw the number 76 on my screen. I said to myself, This means that the software is not sure that I have the minimIum competency level to be a RN yet. So I decided to FOCUS!!!!! I read every question more than 5 times before answering. I got about 15-20 SATA, 5 drag and drop, order and pictures, 2EKG, about 3 maths and about 14 -15 pharmacology questions, I know, they were a lot, I heard that most of the test takers get no more than 5 pharm questions. I got about 7 priority quest too, no delegation. And then the moment came, I answered the 82nd questions and the BLUE SCEEN !!!!!! I was finished!!!After 2.5 hours. I was almost sure I passed. I don't know, I felt like I guessed only about 10 -12 questions from all of them. And I was quite sure I got most of the rest of the questions right. But as long as I got home a friend told me what happened to her, that if I left the test center feeling that I had passed it meant that I failed because I never got the hard questions... I started to doubt , then, feeling worse and discouraged. Then I tried the PVT and guess what????? Yesssss, I got the GOOD POOP UP!!!!!!!! 48 hours later I paid 7 dlls for my fast results, and yes, indeed, I PASSED!!!!!! I am just waiting for my License number from the BON, it takes about 3 weeks as I know. My advice. If you are an american or an international nurse, YOU CAN PASS IT, do not let other posts or people to discourage you because even though you don't get the best practice scores "at the beginning" and if you leave the test center feeling that you did good, it has nothing to do with your chances to PASS of FAIL. Trust yourself and you will get it! Now I am a RN, I had to learn a language to achieve this goal, you only have to practice on your own language, it is MUCH MORE THAN POSSIBLE as long as you STUDY HARD!!!!!! God bless you all new RNs. Soon will be going to America. P.S. I know my english needs improvement, I am typing really fast. LOL. Sorry for that.
  6. Hi Everyone... First of all.. Blessings to you all..... I am really frustrated from the Kaplan scores and I need some advice... As I am a mexican educated RN. It was really difficult for me to get used to the North American nursing protocols and rules. But I think I am learning. I have been practicing my QBank questions and I have finished 100% of Qbank.. I scored bad at the beginning as I was not used to the US nursing world... But I wanna know from those who have already passed the NCLEX RN if my scores are not that bad as I think they are. Well, When I began at the Qbanks I was getting 45% or even worse (26% at SATAS from kaplan Qbank) , but as soon as I kept practising the last 5 Qbanks scores I have answered are 60%.... 60%....60%....61% and 60% (all of them with 50 and 75 questions) ...Before that I was always getting in the 50s...I once scored a 72% at a 50 questions Qbank ( I really loved that score and that whole day) LOL.... I have heard that when you are getting in the 60s is okay, but I am not sure... By the other hand , at Saunders I am getting between 68-72% My last 100 questions test with Saunders CD software was 71% I also answered the CD ROM of Kaplan BOOK with 180 questions and I scored 64%. Please .. Tell me if I have a high possibility to pass or not.... I have read Kaplan book almost twice and practiced more than 2500 questions since I started studying. I am also reading Hurst book and practicing some questions from that book. I am planning to answer the CD ROM that comes in the book too....I will take the test in Harlingen Texas in just 5 days :S I am scared!!! Advices please!!!!! I will really appreciate your answers and comments... Thank you... :)
  7. Thank you for your answer, I know it is more difficult for latin people to pass that test. But I will keep studying. I do not know how many times I ll have to take the test,it will not be soon when I have my first try. thank you bye bye.
  8. Hi I am quite sad because I had the TOEFL today and I feel I did not do so good. Something good is that I have learned that I will not always get what I want, I learned what it is like to fail at times and other good thing is that I saw some of my weaknesses at english, so I know where to start my studying plans. Thank you very much. By now it is like an impossible goal to be ready for the NCLEX RN but I know that as babies slowly learn to stand and walk, someday I will be able to take and pass my NCLEX RN. and I will acheve one of my primary goals, to migrate from MEX. Thanks. I ll be here to tell you about it :) bye bye
  9. Hi, Congratualtions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want the KAPLANNNN material but here in mexico I dont know how to get it. I am goign to finish my Escuela de licenciatura in mexico and I want to migrate to the US. Thanks for your help
  10. Thank you very much... Well, I don't have idea about how hard it is for a nurse to find a job in the U.S. but here in Mexico if you don't work for a burocratic institution you may never have a good salary and you don't have an idea how hard it is for me to work in such institutions because I do not have any relative working there and the job market opens applications recruitment about once every 6 years. Anyway, I have heard about many job offers in southern U.S. for bilingual nurses because many clients only speak spanish so I am preparing myself to work as a bilingual R-nurse. I trust myself and I know I'll get the job I want but, the hardest thing for me now that I have not finished my degree is to nkow how to start to prepare myself for the NCLEX, I ll find out about the editorial you told me about TY.:)
  11. Hi, greetings to everyone. I am a mexican nursing student. I am going to be a RN as soon as I finish my last two semesters of school and my social service in Mex. Since I was accepted in the Nursing faculty of my Sate's university I have been studying hard to someday work in the U.S. I have learned english on my own and I am one of the best students in the whole university. As I know I can't go to the U.S. as a registered nurse if I do not pass the NCLEX test and here in México it is so hard to get guiding material to prepare myself for the exam. That is why I want you to help me... how can I get the content of some helpful material like Prentice Hall and Kaplan. I do not have a laptop so it is hard for me to keep studying on a computer so I would be so thankful with you if you help me. I want to participate to reduce the increasing shortage of nursing professional in the U.S. and to have a better lifestyle that unfortunately it is hard for a mexican registered nurse to find here. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Sorry, my english is still bad.:)
