Thats what the Nursing Director at Pima told me. She said if you do the LPN through CTD you must work a full year as an LPN before they will start you into there 3rd block she didn't mention anything about 2nd block. This information was given to me last mth so I dont know I'm hearing alot of different stuff. I was accepted in the Nursing program where I live so I'm safe now. If I didn't get in I was thinking of going through CTD.

The Nursing director told me herself face to face that if you do the LPN thru the CTD you must work a full year as a licensed LPN before they let you into the 3rd block at Pima for the RN. It's because it's clock hour not college credits. I was told by other schools you dont have to just need the licenses. If you have time maybe you could see what they tell you. I also have all pre reqs done every single last one. What is advanced placement do for you? Where does it put you in the program? Does it cut down school time? I also guess I would need my CNA even though I went to the college in Sierra Vista for 10mths to get my MA and did way more then a CNA. We did phlebotomy's, IV's all kinds of stuff, I was hoping to maybe be able to use that so I dont have to waste anymore time. I spoke with the head teacher for our class she's a retired nurse and said we learn way more then you do in the CNA class that only takes a 1mth down here. But if I gotta do it I'll do it just wanna get done. Oh yea how long was the wait to start?
  3. Thank you so much. I dont think traveling that far would be wise due to traffic and never knowing if there is a wreck that would delay even longer. I might have to get up at 2am to make it there on time lol There is a program at Pima community college they actually have 2 the regular LPN well its the latter program for there RN program which if I got in quick I would complete the whole program. Then there is the Center for training and development. It's a little easier to get into and doesn't require all the pre reqs even though I have them. It's not college credits though and they require you to work a full year as an LPN to get into there 3rd block so I was alittle confused on the whole thing and wasn't sure if all schools with fast track LPN programs were like that. But I would see how that could be I mean it's not easy to get into nursing school and if it was that simple to just take a fast track LPN program everyone would do it so working for a year and learning and proving yourself to be able to slip in 3rd block without any testing isn't bad. I think I'm just anixous to get this over with or alteast be in the program already. I still might be able to get in this coming fall semester at Cochise were I live but I'm just nervous about it. I am preparing for the HESI now for the march or april testing. They also count points towards the HESI score for science and english classes which your psy's count with the english. Science classes are 4 points each and Eng/Psy 2 points each so its nice they do that it is hard work. I wonder if all colleges are like that? I will check into the Centrel Az college and see what they offer also. Thank you so much for the VERY helpful info the schedule they provide doesn't say all the actual times you will really be there it only listed 2 to 3 days which is the only reason I actually considered it but I'm horrible with tardiness. I'm def guilty and driving that far would not be a good thing plus I have 2 little boys I dont think I could manage all that. I guess I'll stick to something closer unless I move up there which at the moment doesn't sound bad this small town is wearing me down...8 years to long I say. Thanks again.
  4. Which one are you in? If you earn college credits then you dont but if it's clock hour you do. Thats what they told me.
  5. yes i agree very slow drivers that drive me crazy. Have you started yet? I've heard mixed things about it. I'll prob take the NET here which they switched it to the HESI and if I dont get in Aug class I'll do the drive or stay up there a couple nights or evenutally move. I dont plan to stay here I was just finishing school. How long is the school? It looks like 2 semester right? I seen the spring 2010 app. and it didn't look bad looked like clinicals on Sat but said can change. Do they have the clincials at a hospital up there? If so I think if the hospital down here agrees you can do it local. I know some ppl who went to PMI in Tucson and he did the clinicals in SV. At are college you have to have all your pre reqs done before you can take the NET/HESI and they count as points towards your score, I wonder if that also applies to this school. This school down here only has a class starting every fall thats bs and I think they should start every fall/spring would be helpful for the 250 who take the test every spring and actually give someone a chance. They have alot drop out cause they can't hang and if your on the alternate list you can only get in if they drop out before Sept if not you have to wait a year and still not sure if you get in the next class start.
  6. Did you have to take the NET test? It says you need to score 50% on math and the reading part but no ones mentioned it. If the classes are only 2 days a week I'll drive 3 hours to get this done. I've done the pre reqs so I'm ready and been ready. I did the medical asst program 4 years ago and I wish I would've just done the RN and maybe not have to wait like this. Also did you need your finger print card before you turn in your app. ? I'm waiting for it to get here hopefully soon.
  7. Ok not bad times actually. I checked with Pima's center for training and development and they have the fast track LPN program but they said you have to work a full year as an LPN before they will let you in the 3rd block. I wouldn't mind doing the drive if I could bybass and do the 3rd block without the wait of working a full year and maybe coming back to this school, cochise college where I live.

I was also thinking of taking it, you must have your CNA and pass a basic math and reading test have a finger print card and pass a drug test. Also with this you must work a full year as an LPN to get into a RN program at the 3rd block that was my goal and if I dont get into the RN program for this fall 2010 I will do the CTD program I'm done waiting. I've got all pre reqs done so this is my other opition. Good Luck
  9. So I also was thinking of the CTD program but there is a catch, I thought hey i can bybass and get into the 3rd block get my RN. Well when you go through the CTD program you must work as an LPN for a year before you can get into the fast track program for RN or any RN program. If anyone has any other info let me know thats the info I've gotten so far from the research I've done. I have all pre reqs done just waiting and waiting. If i move back home to Ohio there is no wait list it seems to be on the west coast area that there is so many waiting list. The college that I grew up around just requires you have all pre reqs done more the merrier and take the NET of course pass it and you either start in fall or spring. Of course if its full in fall you start that coming spring vice versa. Good luck to everyone.
  10. Oh wow thats awesome I now have hope again. What all did you need to do before you actually applied. I'm trying to get all the info I live 3 hours away and thinking of doing the drive or moving. Any info that I can get before doing that drive would be awesome and whats the schedule like. thanks so much
  11. The catch for the LPN fast track jumping in to block 3 is this, you have to work for a full year as a LPN before you can get into block 3. I'm also trying to get this done faster and the waiting is killing me. I have all my pre reqs done I'm just waiting to get in. If you wanna do your bac you can do that with UofPhx and they only require you to have worked 3mths as an LPN and it's a little more work but it's a way in. Now with the private schools everyone keeps saying that it's so expensive just remember if you can get finicial aid it pays every bit of it so dont worry about the price it pays off in the end making more money then you did before you had your degree. Good luck everyone
  12. yes is it the lpn to rn program, i've never found a single school that does that for the rn program only the bac rn but never the lpn to rn and if there is one online where do I get the info I've been looking but can't find any.
  13. I'm looking on there website for NAU and it says it's BAC which you said but you have to already have an AND or AAS in nursing already and it says it's in the Flagstaff not tucson ???
  14. And where is this NAU college in Tucson at?
  15. Is gateway in Tucson? I have all my pre reqs done and would love to get started and one semester is better then a whole year.
  16. I spoke to the school its self and they said if your doing your ADN that yes you do have to go after each sememster and there are 6 because they do not have a training campus for clinicals and that was were it takes place. For me it would be ok if I had the money to fly each time which I guess I could save each semester. But they do say it on there website thats why I called and asked I had read that and wanted more info. I like the fact you can do it online and it would be nice to do the clinicals 4 days at the end of the sememster then they can test if you learned anything but always having a babysitter for 4 days and money for a flight isn't easy. If you know of any in Tucson that would be awesome.
  17. It can be affordable you have to apply for scholarships if you dont try you wont get them and most ppl dont try. I never tried and finally did and got the money. And with Chamberlin you have to go to Columbus Ohio at the end of the semester for 4 days and you have to pay for it yourself and take some clinical testing. Which for me I'm from there now living in Az and it would be great to go home for 4 days I have a place to stay but for some that college isn't ideal. Flights and hotel stay plus food adds.
  18. do you know if you pass the test how long it takes. My college you take the NET and then you can wait and wait years before you can go into the program.
  19. So did you get into the spring 2010 I seen were it's full now but I know this post was awhile ago so hopefully you made it. The website info was alittle scary they said there are 2150 on the waiting list so does that ever change I wonder ppl not wanting to wait and you get pumped up on the list. That wait time seems alot longer then my college ahhhh I feel stuck anyone know of a college that will accept you if you have every class finised, micro, all englishes, psy, a&p, chem all of them just dont wanna wait anymore.
  20. yes where at on the website does i say anything about the program sorry its very late and I maybe over looking it thanks so much
  21. yes I have a question? How do you find out about this I can't find it on there website about the training. I have all pre reqs done just wanna get my RN please help.
  22. Is there other colleges other then CC with the wait list in Tucson please help I wanna apply to all and see where I stand at getting in sooner then later I have all pre reqs done just waiting now .
  23. Ok so the question I have is... I've got all my pre reqs done, now here comes the waiting and it still will take 2 years to finish at my cc so at PMI do you have to do all the pre reqs again? If you have them all finished can you just do the nursing classes and clinicals ? I just don't wanna wait and need some where to go (school) that isn't to far to drive Tucson is as far as I can go I live in Sierra Vista and I was going to go to the RTP at Pima and passed and go in but didn't wanna drive was having some issues with my kids father and it wasn't the right time. Which the drive is worth it now that I'm so close but yet so far from finishing. I just want a program where I can take the actually nursing courses and be done I dont wanna wait on a list and I dont need to worry about the cost I get FA and then I have scholarships to apply for and usually get them so money isn't a problem just time. Please help any info please thanks so much And there are so many scholorships to apply for any college will give you info on them and most ppl wont take the time to get them, my friend got 27,000 for the first 2 semesters and all she did was fill out an app and a ref letter and go the money free and clear.
  24. When I went there to take the basic test (tucson, az) you were allowed to use a calculator and you can take it 3 times total. I was going for something different the RTP and I passed but with the RN you have more test to do which i'm going to speak with them tomorrow. I would rather get my RN and instead of waiting for a CC waiting list for years. I want to get it done and the cost is the same. All my pre req that I've taken cost about 25,000 and the books are expensive so who ever said this school is more expensive hasn't went to college or maybe just started. The nursing program alone is 5,000 but that doesnt include scrubs or tools you need and the books each semester are 700 or more so it averages out to be the same. I have proof if anyone wants to see how much the college has me down for. I dont want to waste time being on a waiting list so if this is the place to get me finished then so be it and they do have financial aid there if you meet the requirments and there are tons of scholarships that they will help you with so dont worry just do it. The classes are also longer so you can get done faster so if your not into being there long then you must not wanna get done fast so to me i'll give them a year outta my life to be an RN for the rest of it.
