New grad RN cant find job. HELP
Don't get fixated on finding a hospital job. Chances are it wont be happening as fast as you imagined it would. Apply in outpatient setting- dr.office, clinic, etc.

RN working as a CNA
Its a conflict of interest. You won't be able to work as a CNA if you already have your RN license.

No experience
Welcome to the club! It's very hard to find a job in or around NYC if you don't have connections. I have realized that over the past five years that I've been here. Good luck to you.

Anyone been through NSLIJ OR fellowship?
Hey guys I just wanted to update if anyone was wondering I did not get in. I was never called back however I reached out to them and was told that January class was already filled up. It's kind of strange why do they conduct interviews knowing that the class is already full. Hmm. But ok whatever. So I am pretty bummed about it. I thought I almost had my foot in the door.

Anyone been through NSLIJ OR fellowship?
That's right Northwell Health! I interviewed for OR fellowship and yes they told me the starting date is Jan 25. Are you also in the fellowship? Does the fact that I had second interview pretty much mean they will hire me or ... it could go either way?

Anyone been through NSLIJ OR fellowship?
Hey guys has anyone been thought or has any insight on NSLIJ OR fellowship? I just had my second interview with several nurse managers and the director. How long does it usually take them to get back to you with an answer? I also feel feel kind of mad at myself because I mentioned "kids" in my interview. Is that a "no-no" ;( please shed some light on my situation. Thanks! :)

Can someone explain to me why??
Yes there are a lot of new nurses without jobs in the NYC area. It has been a long journey for me. I am ready to land a nursing job anywhere at this point.
-
Can someone explain to me why??
I guess so. It says "BSN preferred" under the position I applied for in their website. It also says that candidate must obtain BSN within 5 years of employment. That's is why I was a little unsure about my situation. However, you are right about them being very strict and specific about having BSN nowadays.

Can someone explain to me why??
Hey everyone I recently applied for a nursing fellowship in one of the best health systems in the city and had an interview with a recruiter for a nursing position. However, I did not get the position because of not having BSN. I am currently licensed as an RN and will be graduating with BSN this December. In another words I am one semester away from graduation. I provided a letter from the program stating my graduation date and that I am in a very good academic standing. My current GPA is 3.9. So even with that in mind why would I get a rejection? I am so bummed:( can't stop crying... Thank you all for the input.

Frustrated New RN looking for first job
Just want to say that I noticed this post in every new grad thread. And not to be negave and not to discourage you, but I know for a fact that MJHS are NOT hiring new grads at this time. I have called and spoke with 2 of the recruiters both on the phone AND in person. So, please, whoever is copying and pasting the same post, do not do so because it gives false hope to new grads. Thanks. Good luck with job search, i hope you find something soon!

Mount Sinai inquiries
You are absolutely right. I feel the same way. I also think, its very discouraging to the new nurses ( new grads) who are passionate about nursing...Today, I read that last year two of the major hospitals in NYC were closed down. Thousands of nurses were left jobless, and those experienced nurses are looking for jobs right now as well. So, we as new grads, have a lot of competition going on. It seems that almost every hospital preferssss more experienced nurses rather than new grads.

New grad needs a job badly!!!
Hey all!!! I graduated from nursing school in May 2010. I have been looking for a job ever since. I have never worked as a CNA/ or NA. Does anyone know of a hospital, clinic, doctors office, nursing home, hospice, home care agency that is hiring new grads?! Please, please help with your advice. Maybe some of you heard something by the word of mouth about openings for nw RNs..I really want to be a nurse, really bad! Thank you so much for your input!!!

Mount Sinai inquiries
All4NursingRN, that was one of the things that caught my attention- the fact that they said they are hiring new grads. I actually went to a walk in interview and the recruiter said that she was only hiring for home care and I woul not qualify because I am a new grad. Well, then she gave me contact #s of recruiters of Menorah and Shorefront Nursing Homes. When I called they said that they only have one RN spot available, but they are not going to hire anyone yet...So, anyhow... That is my story with MJHS!!!

Hey guys! I dont know if this will answer yoru questions. But I graduated from Nursing School in NOrth Carolina in May. Since I moved to NYC, I took my NCLEX here and so now I am certified RN in the state of NY! I would also recommend it to you all to take your exam wherever you will be practicing nursing. Good Luck!
