you might be from ohio if:
I love it when they say "Chimley" for chimney I have lived all of my life in Ohio. Most of it in the Akron area, but lived 10 years in beautiful Southern Ohio. (Cambridge) I have to laugh though because my cousins were from upstate Michigan and when they talked about a cow, it took us fifteen minutes to figure out what they were talking about. I can't begin to tell you how they pronounced it!

Nurses and Nursing Students: what was/is your biggest pet peeve in nursing school?
This was a very therapeutic thread. It really isn't much different in the real world outside of nursing school. My biggest pet peeve was the fact that I attended a Christian College and the instructors were the biggest hypocrites I have ever met! They would do anything to help you FAIL:devil:

Are you in Nursing for the Caring or the Cash?? Be Honest
I believe everyone has their own reason for becoming a nurse. At the age of 44, I went back to school to get my BSN. This has been a passion of mine for 20 years. I love to care for people and help them in any way I can; be it emotionally, compassionately, or just listening to them. I also am pursuing my dream because I have three children to support. Ages 14, 13, and 11. The fact that nursing is a diverse field that can fit any schedule(at least in our area), I am going for it. From what I have heard as far as pay scales, nurses are greatly underpaid! In nursing class the first day our instructor told us "If your'e in it for the money, you may want to evaluate your reason for being here." Nursing is a caring, compassionate field that requires dedication. My respect to all of the nurses out there, soon I will be one of you!

Any Words of Wisdom- Starting 1st Sem.of Nursing School
Everyone has pretty much covered life as a nursing student. It is a hard course, but you must persevere and do the best you can. Everything will fall into place a little at a time, don't rush through your studies...take the time to soak everything up. Some things are going to stick easier than others, but you will be surprised at how much you are able to pull out of your head when needed. You will do just fine if you keep the faith that YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!! Good Luck:D

Religion's Place in Nursing
You are so right. I know what Christ has done for me in my life, and it saddens me that there are so many out there that are lost. It is a much better life doing it the Lord's way than my way. Stay close to Jesus my sister in Christ.

I did not mean to offend you by my info I had received. I will definitely check out my resources better the next time. Although the info came from the ANA.Your reply was a little hasty, and I did not mean to cause you upset. As I said before, Good luck in your schooling.

As a Nursing student myself (Stark State) you might want to check out the pass rate for Aultman. It is hovering around 68%. The state came in recently and shut down their accelerated program.. Best of luck to you in your schooling.

Answered prayer or Divine purpose?
PamRNC God does miraculous things for us everyday and is ever present in all situations. I can attest to his ever loving presence as I go about my day. But I choose to acknowledge his presence and praise him. He is awesome. I believe he does put us in places at the right time, and it sure sounds like he did that for you.

ADHD and son
:) My son was also diagnosed with ADHD. He has been on meds since he was 11 and is now 13. What a blessing the meds have been. He is a super sweet kid with a great big heart. I was very scared thinking about putting him on medication. He is doing well in school with a little extra help from myself and is an awesome artist and trumpet player! I will keep you all in my prayers

ADN to BSN
onemind...it is a tough decision and one not to be taken lightly. you need to take into account your life and where you are headed. i was 45 when i went back to get a nursing degree and i bounced back and forth the adn -- bsn thing and decided to go the extra year and get my bsn. i already had some schooling that was credited to my degree so it worked out for me. if you want to continue your education, most states require a bsn degree. good luck on your future in nursing...

ADN to BSN
If you want to advance in your field, you need a BSN to go on to your MSN if you want to be a NP, PA, etc...or to teach. Good luck!!
