  1. I finally passed the HESI exit exam. My school requires a 850 or higher. My first attempt I made a 849. My second attempt I made a 1,018. I am finally out of nursing school! Now, it's time to study for NCLEX. -Aaron
  2. It is possible to work part-time if you know how to manage your time. I know people who have worked throughout the entire program (including myself). Do I work 40 hr/wk? No. But, I do work ~ 25 hr/wk. Make sure your employer is very flexible, because you will need that.
  3. I'm currently in the last course of the program. Congrats to everyone that was accepted. Be prepared and you will enjoy the program. Good luck!
  4. This link works. https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1aXN2NHF5-3gKzwLdeyJ5Uo-TqvXhM_EV2jHnnBjNerQ&pli=1
  5. Organization will come once you receive your syllabus. Find what works best for you. E.g. - I only take a small notebook and a pen. Know your material before class, sit there and listen and write down the important stuff. Try not to make school harder than it is. :)
  6. This is all in your book and online. Shouldn't take > 30 min. to find all of the answers. 1. Adrenal gland - Endocrine Good luck!
  7. @Mrs.Mumz - Lecture exams are definitely doable. As long as you read the assigned pages and pay attention in lecture you'll be fine. In my opinion, you rarely have to take notes unless the instructor say's, "I would know..." The more exams you take, you will be able to point out the information the instructors want you to know. I.e. - critical labs, ABC's, nursing process, etc.
  8. You will get instructions on confirming nursing as your major once you have started the N1300 course. They will tell you everything you need to know. Congrats!
  9. Here you go... https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1aXN2NHF5-3gKzwLdeyJ5Uo-TqvXhM_EV2jHnnBjNerQ&pli=1
  10. Good luck to you all. Rest up for the intro. class. :)
  11. If you are doing well, keep doing what you are doing. I agree with That Guy. Drawing it out helps.
  12. Thanks! I'm looking forward to the clinical part of the class, but lecture is a different story.
  13. I start mental health nursing in a week. I will have to find a way to make the material interesting. Has anyone taken this course? If so, can you give me any advice/online resources that may help? Thanks,
  14. @mgrn4life - Shoot me an email at [email protected] and I will try to help as best as I can. Learn as much as you can in A&P I and II, because it will make all of the material you learn in nursing school a lot easier. -Aaron
  15. @ImThatGuy - Yes, it's a RN-BSN program. I'm not sure of the competition level, but I actually have clinicals at UAMS now. I believe we have clinicals at every local hospital except Baptist.
  16. You all will be receiving letters soon. Don't sweat it. The letter will come when you least expect it.
  17. Where I keep all of my other resources - https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1aXN2NHF5-3gKzwLdeyJ5Uo-TqvXhM_EV2jHnnBjNerQ
  18. No notes or printed PPTs for me. I read the material and research what I do not know. Repetition works for me. You just have to find your groove.

  21. During my application process I wasn't finished with A&P II. I still have to complete Microbiology, which I will take summer 2011. I am not sure of your GPA, but if you have an A in A&P I and pretty good grades in the other pre-reqs. you should be fine. As for the program, get your rest. If accepted, you will have to complete the skills class in May. Not hard at all, but nerve wrecking. So far, it's a good program. Just follow any directions they tell you. Sounds easy, but it's not. Good luck!
  22. I'm in the program now. You can email me at ag.wade (at) gmail.com for any questions. I was in your same situation when applying. -Aaron
  23. Johns Hopkins Univ. School of Nursing has great resources... http://www.son.jhmi.edu/resources/career/center/resources/
  24. Repetition is key. Take pics, spend extra time in the lab, take online quizzes, etc. Try to make up mnemonics if applicable. Good luck.
  25. Yes, I'm in my second semester of nursing school. So far, it's not too bad. I study ~ 2-3 hrs. per weekday and more on the weekends. If you get the concepts of the material, you will be fine.
