  1. Google nurse refresher course southern california
  2. Also, look at online classes. Most of the CC in CA offer them, and he will have more options. He can take classes anywhere in the state where they are offered. This of course does not work for science classes with labs, but you can take just about everything else. And I also agree with the previous poster, try all the community colleges within an hour of where you live.
  3. Why the heck not?!!! Men work as ob/gyn physicians, so why couldn't a man be an L&D nurse?
  4. Sorry, I don't remember many questions at this point and I didn't write them down afterward, some basic stuff, tell us about yourself, why nursing, why nicu, etc. There were more pointed questions, but I do not recall specifics. Hope that helps.
  5. I don't see the job listings posted. Did advanced search with "training program" and nothing shows up. Where did you see it?
  6. I can't answer the licensure issue, it would depend upon the facility you are applying to. But I can tell you this, California is not an easy place to find a job, many graduates go 1-2 years before finding a job. It's really tough out here. As a matter of fact, I know several Californians who have had to take jobs in Ohio. Good luck to you!
  7. I just received an email telling me I was not selected for an interview.
  8. Mine says Route, and I have not received an email or any other communication from UCD. I figure i'm not in the running since I haven't heard anything from them at this point. Good luck to those of you in the running!
  9. Speaking of the devil, I just got a rejection email from them.
  10. I haven't heard a thing either, and my status says HR Review.
  11. Try Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream. I have found it works wonders, and you only need to use a small amount at a time. http://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Norwegian-Formula-Cream-Fragrance-Free/dp/B000052YP6
  12. I chose nicu and picu for my top two choices, and not sure what I chose for the other, I think it was the medical peds floor. They said this was a screening interview; it will be with two nurse recruiters and one manager. If that goes well enough, then onto an interview with unit managers.
  13. I'm in nor cal and was called today, so yes, they are calling outside the area.
  14. I just got a call for an interview next week. So, they are still calling people!
  15. Like a previous poster stated, most ADN degrees require two years of prereqs and two years of nursing classes. A BSN requires about the same timeframe, perhaps a semester longer. Why not take an extra semester, and get a degree that will open more doors for you? I have a BA in a non-related field, and elected to get a BSN through an accelerated program. It was one year, whereas getting a ADN would have been two years.
  16. Sorry to hear that, I also just got an email letting me know I wasn't selected. Back to the drawing board. Good luck to you in your job search!
  17. I thought it went pretty well, but with so many well-qualified applicants, it's hard to gauge whether it will be good enough to get an offer. They told me we'd find out on Friday, too, so at least I don't have to wait in suspense as long as you have. I was also told they will be selecting six new nurses. Best of luck to you, I hope we both get good news on Friday
  18. Thanks, that's helpful info. I belong to NANN and read the journals, which has been inspiring to me. I have NRP cert., so I reviewed my NRP stuff a little bit in case they ask me anything about that. I've done a lot of research about the unit and the hospital itself and think it would be a great place to work. I hope I am able to show them how I would be a good fit. Thanks again for the good advice!
  19. Hi everyone! I'm a recent new grad who is fortunate to have an upcoming interview at UCSF's Intensive Care Nursery. I'm really excited to have this opportunity and am trying to prepare myself as best possible. I have little information about the interview process other than it will be me interviewing with the Unit Manager, two assistant managers and an educator. If anyone out there has any tips or advice, I certainly would appreciate it.
  20. I received a call yesterday, as did some of my classmates, panel interviews are scheduled for August 8, 9th and 10th.
  21. You can get Nursing Made incredibly easy for 15.99 year if you go to discount mags . com, and use the coupon code woot (20% off). Not too bad.
  22. I'm in the bay area, recent BSN, also another Bachelor's in another field. I have not had an clinical rotations at Washington.
  23. I've got the forwarded to manager status as well...hope to get a call, fingers crossed! Good luck everyone!
  24. My status says forwarded to manager, which was updated on the 22nd. Keeping my fingers crossed that I get a call. Anyone else here that applied?
  25. I'm sure many of us have applied to Washington's new grad program. Thought I would start a thread as we anticipate getting calls for interviews (and maybe a few sorry not selected emails). Any idea when we will start hearing from them?
