Have you ever head of New Book and Training Program The Divine Mercy is Catholic based from Saint Faustina. It is very interesting and so lovely! It really shows how religion and spirituality should be in part of a patients care plan. I urge you to read this. You can order the book online. Once you've read it, you can download a test from the website and receive 8 CE's! God Bless!

It's been 4 weeks since I did my fingerprints and background check and the DOH still hasn't received my results...geez! Apparently today is a holiday in DC.....so no one is in the office....stinks to find that out after I've been on hold all day! ERGH! Guess I'll be getting a temp license to make sure I can work!!! What a process!

I have been waiting 4 weeks now (and counting) for my background check and fingerprints to be completed. I keep checking the DC DOH website and it says it's "unchecked" but I completed it 4 weeks ago. I'm hoping that means in progress. I've been on hold all day....trying to get a customer service rep! Ergh!!! I have a job that starts June 6th...so I need a license! I hear things are much easier if you walk into their office....but thats hard if you're out of state!

What time did you go? I went early in the morning and there wasn't a line at all! My process was very easy! Sorry you had a bad experience. It's been a few weeks and I still haven't seen my criminal background check or fingerprints come back ok on the online website....so just FYI it takes awhile.... FYI....they did cash my check though! Where are you working?

Thanks! I called up the board of nursing today and talked with them because I thought my application had been "misplaced". Apparently I needed to still do the $50 criminal background check and fingerprints and the $30 Nursys license verification. I can't believe you have to do that on nursys even though you can print out your license confirmation from your own state board of nursing. Just one more thing to pay I guess! $230+ 50 + 30= $310 for a license!!!! I'm heading up this Thursday to interview for a position...so I hope to get the fingerprints done while I'm there. PS: Make sure you send you application to the 899 N. capitol address....they just moved buildings apparently..... 53127 When are you looking to move? Where do you want to work? Good luck!!!

Do you know if all employees are approved for the tuition reimbursement at GWU Hospital? I'm starting FNP at GWU in the Fall..and applying for a ICU position at GWU Hospital. I would love to have help with the tuition!!! From the website : Program 1 -allows for reimbursement for tuition expenses directly related to job responsibilities or part of curriculum requirements for a degree in a job related field at any accredited university up to a $3,000 per year maximum. Program 2- provides 90% of tuition costs to The George Washington University. Employees must apply and then be selected for this benefit. Employees are selected based on job readiness, job enhancement and courses of study that further the mission and business goals of the Hospital. How do you determine which program you fit into to? I am applying for a ICU position at George Washington University Hospital. I feel that if I work in the city I would need to live in the city since the metro says it doesn't open until 7am on the weekends! What am I suppose to do if I have to work a weekend day shift? Cab it? If I was in walking distance I would be able to walk. Does the metro open earlier than 7am on weekends? Does the hospital have parking available for nurses on the weekends? I really wasn't planning on taking a car...but I may have to. I have a interview March 19th! I'm excited! I'm relocating from NC for a new experience and starting FNP at GWU in the Fall! Any advice on places to live for a single female? I've heard The State House in Dupont is has good rent if you can find a vacancy!!! Thanks!

Hi! Nice to hear back from you! I took my CCRN in August and passed! Woo...what a relief! I studied a few different books....and did a review session. Just going over and over material plus doing practice questions helped me the most! Find the blueprint for the test on the AACN website and study the topics on the blueprint! The test was changed in January 2010, so make sure you have a updated book and blueprint. What grad school program are you interested in? CRNA? I'm applying for CRNA at Georgetown for August 2011...but if that falls through, then I'm looking at working at either George Washington Hospital or Washington Hospital Center. I'm not sure about their grad school assistance. The cost of living difference is a huge factor for me too! I'm in NC where I pay less than $600 a month including utilities (with a roommate). It's stressful looking at paying over $1000 for a studio. Why do you want to relocate? I'm having a hard time with my family accepting my decision to relocate. Hey, I'm moving to DC in June 2011 and I'm a critical care nurse as well! I just passed my CCRN last month, which will hope in getting a well paying job. Do you know where you want to work? I'm going back and forth from Washington Hospital Center and George Washington Hospital. Those seem to be the bigger trauma centers in the area, I'm interested and trained in Surgery/Truama ICU. When do you plan on moving?
