Switching from VA to DC license
Okay so I just got back from getting fingerprinted for the criminal background check...WHOA what an experience! I think they give the option to get your finger printing done at your local police station. I would highly recommend that option. While I was standing in the long line of disgruntle people at the Metropolitan Police Dept, i wished I chose that option. It was very nerve racking. Anyways, glad that I finally have everything done.

Switching from VA to DC license
I do live in Arlington, about 10 min outside the city. The apt building I live in is great. W/D in unit, free parking, and no utilities all for a very reasonable price. I cant send private messages yet but I really would like to send you more info about the apt and INOVA off the forum. I only need 5 more post and then I can lol

Switching from VA to DC license
I'm actually from Arlington and have been working for INOVA...I got a job at Children's National. I also have to pay $32.50 for a temp license because they only gave me a month notice before the jobs starts and according to the nurse recruiter that process takes about 45 days. So my total cost is $340...not excited about turning over that much money

Will I have to give up my nurse dreams if I'm on dialysis?
You absolutely do not have to give up your dream. My clinical instructor got through her BSN and MSN while on dialysis. She has worked on a MED-SURG floor ( a floor that most "healthy" pple can't handle) for years . When you're ready (physically and mentally) go for it. Good luck :)

Graduate Nurse with Associate's Degree
I have to agree with ChristineN. Its going to be very hard to get a job as a new grad at INOVA Fairfax at least. They have phased out the fellowship programs. In fact the people that used to be "New hire support" on both the floors I've worked on have had to take new positions, which make me think they wont be doing fellowships anytime soon. I saw recently that they posted positions for nurse interns but I haven't seen and RN I position posted in a while. My floor is critically short right now and upper management has already told up that they have no intention on hiring anyone and that is basically the same for all floors.

Parking at WHC
thank 0402... Are the lots walkinh distance to the hospital or are shuttles necessary? Also, I am an RN II and was offered a position at a base pay rate of 28.93. I was honestly expecting a little more being that new graduates are getting 27.67. At inova we get a 2.50 raise from RN I to RN II. Is 28.93 typical for RNII there?
