  1. Awesome! Well at least we know one other person in the program! Thats another reason why I wasn't so worried about not going; because I knew it was for all the accepted students and not just nursing students. I believe we do have to register in person. That is how Julia made it sound. I wouldn't mind getting a tour of the campus anyways. I don't know where the library is or the cafe or anything? So I am thinking I'll try to schedule something with Julia to get up there if I can't go on the 21st.
  2. I actually didn't make it to the accepted students day! I'm so mad because I wrote the two essays for the scholarship haha! How did it go? I guess I have to get up there to register for classes. I think she said its June 21st.
  3. Hey--all that sounds great and I look forward to meeting you on the 30th! I'm all for the study group as well! I am not sure what company they are working with for their accredidation? I applied for the presidential scholarship and there is an essay you can do and hand in at accepted students day, but you may have to accept fully with a deposit before they offer it to you??? They didn't offer me any of that until I did the deposit so I'm not sure how it works. I also have a previous degree so I won't get a lot of aid either. I need to keep looking for available scholarships in the area! Best of luck!
  4. I'd love to work in a hospital just to get some experience but I need some schooling before they'd let me in! haha double edged sword so its tough but oh well! Yes and no on the letter letting me know what was accepted. It was more a schedule of the courses broken down by semester and it had different columns stating the number of credits the class was for and then the next column would have a check mark or say transfer credit or something like that. That basically told me what classes transferred and I spoke to Julia on the phone about them transferring. I went to an information session where I met Julia, then went again for a test at the school-an assessment test or something? Then I had the phone interview so it was a big process for me, haha. I did receive an acceptance letter and financial aid information-just tentative. They were waiting for an updated transcript from the school I did some pre reqs at to make sure they would transfer as well. I have applied for financial aid and sent in essays for scholarship awards. I am not sure on how many days that class meets a week to be honest but I am hoping that they'll be able to move one of those classes for me/I'll be able to take another course early so I can be considered at least part time student first semester or I won't receive financial aid! So if not I'll sign up for some elective or something? That is great news about clinical! Usually they just assign you and you have to live with it! I haven't spoken to Kathy directly, she did leave me a message regarding applications a few months back but otherwise I've been in direct contact with Julia. I'm hoping to attend their second accepted students day at the end of April.
  5. Not the class schedule exactly just which classes were taken what semester along with the classes that were accepted as transfers for me. So that way I know what classes I won't have to re-take. Congrats on the baby!!! Yeah I'm hoping to work part time as well. I just waitress but it seems to be the most flexible thing for me right now!
  6. Yeah I'm considering taking the train in. The commuter rail is like two minutes from me, but it doesn't come as often as the T so I'd probably drive to the closest T station. I am really hoping that I can still work a little bit so I'll probably drive the nights that I have to work if its possible anyways. I did not apply to curry-I also applied to Laboure, MassBay and middlesex. Awesome! Julia (from Bay state) was telling me that a lot of the accepted students are in the same boat as far as classes go. For instance, first semester I only have one class to take! They are trying to see if one of the classes in a later semeseter can be moved to the first so I can be a half time student.
  7. Awesome, well best of luck to you in getting in! I still haven't heard from a few other programs yet but this was the one I wanted to go to. They have done such a nice job setting up the program and spent good money on some great equipment. I also love the small class size. I have taken both A&P I & II as well as Microbiology. I already have a bachelors degree as well so the gen ed classes all transferred which was great. This way I can really focus on the nursing courses and clinicals because I have no experience in the medical field. Have you been able to take any pre-reqs? One of the girls in the grade above me in high school is attending the program right now and she loves it! That definitely helped me make my decision as well. Do you live in the city? My biggest worry is the commute in. I live in Norwood now and I can take the train in but I'll probably end up driving!
  8. I was at first, but I am not at all anymore. They are a brand new program so they couldn't get their accredidation until they've been a program for at least a year. They are being followed/watched/monitored by the company that gives them the accredidation to make sure they will qualify/are doing the right things to qualify and they have given great reviews. After my first year of the two year program the school will be accredited and when I graduate it will be from an accredited school! Cross my fingers that I graduate, haha! Did you apply there?
  9. Heyy all! I got accepted to Bay State's nursing program! I know they only accept 32 students so just wondering if anyone else on here got in!!?? They say start your study groups early right?? Haha, thought I'd reach out early!
  10. This may seem like a silly question so if it is I apologize, but I was told today by a classmate that you needed a BSN to work in a MA hospital. I was planning to apply to all associates degree programs, perhaps one accelerated program and while I began working receive my BSN. I called the Mass. Board of nursing but just got passed around. Finally one woman told me it was because no one knew who to send me to! She recommended I call each hospital to see what they require. If I need to do that I will but I'd like to know so I can apply to a four year program now instead of waste my time and money applying for the two years. Thanks so much for your help!
  11. Yup! I am taking micro this fall as well. I start class August 30th. I am taking A&P II as well. I took A&P I last semester and I thought that was a lot of work! It is the reading that takes the longest; the material is so dense! Anyways, hopefully we all study the same chapters at the same time so we can help each other out! Best of luck to everyone!
  12. ahh, when did you guys hear? I have been waitlisted at LRCC and rejected from MCC...I still haven't heard from NHTI. Knowing that you two have already received your letters it doesn't look to promising for me . Hopefully I have some good news in the mail today. ugh:confused:

Wait listed for LRCC Just waiting to hear back from NHTI...anyone receive a letter yet that isn't already enrolled in another program there? Thanks...

ahh, I applied to NHTI as well. I had all parts of my application in by December. I have not heard either and was also under the impression we would not hear until late March, early April. It makes me stress out a little less knowing you were both already students at NHTI but I am getting a little ancy wanting to hear if I got in!? I also applied to LRCC and Manchester Community. I am taking A&P at LRCC right now but MCC told me all my documents were not in? I don't know how that is possible considering the other two schools got them and they were all sent by the same schools at the same time???? Strange!? So I guess its just LRCC, NHTI or no where for me! ahh so stressed outtt! I just want to know!?!?
  15. I am also applying to Manchester Community, along with a few others up north! I haven't heard only because the applications aren't due till February. I have most of my paperwork in, just need to fill out the application and my undergrad school needs to send my transcript. I don't think we'll find out until April if we're in! Best of luck to you!!!!
  16. So, I am applying in 2010 like most of you and had replied to this thread a little while back. I have just attended my last "nursing information session" for the third school I am applying to and the nerves have finally set in. I have a bachelors in Marketing and never really thought Nursing would be a field I'd go for...until I worked two different jobs in the 'business world' and hated it! I thought of my priorities and what I wanted out of my job and life and this feels like the perfect path for me. Because of pre-requesites I decided to apply to an ADN program to begin. I do not have the A&P's or Microbiology. I took the NLN but haven't received my scores yet. The reason why I am so nervous now is because last night at the info session the woman said if you have A&P I and/or II it only increases your chances of getting in because you get more points towards acceptance. I think, well that is ok, I still have a good shot. I decide to ask her "do most of the applicants already have the A&Ps" (just to see how low my odds really are)...and she said 90% of applicants have already taken at least A&P I. At this point my only hope (I feel) is to get on the wait list at any of these schools or to score a 100% on the NLN (which is NOT going to happen...I definitely guessed on every single science question). I don't mean to be pessimistic...I am the type of person that likes to see the glass as half full...but after yesterday, it is very hard to do so. I would take A&P I in January to at least increase my chances of getting in...but the grade has to be submitted by February first or it doesn't count. sad day
  17. Jessicuy-- Good luck on the test in February! My school requires a 50% as well...I feel pretty confident I will get above that on the Reading/Vocab and Math sections, but it is the science I am worried about! There was not nearly as much vocab on the exam as I expected-it was mostly reading comprehension. I'd say there were maybe 16 vocab questions? Then the rest consisted of three of four reading passages with questions. The passage would say something like "Julie has red hair", and the question would be "What color hair did Julie have?"....ridiculous right! Don't get me wrong some of the vocab words, I had never heard of or knew the meaning, but not a lot! I am so nervous about my results...I don't want the science to hold me back! I heard it takes about 10 days to get the results back. It has only been 2 days; the test administrator didn't get the exams in the mail till Monday morning. I suppose I won't get my scores till after the holidays...I hate the wait! Do you need to take any other exams for other schools you are applying to? I had to take the HESI A2 exam as well...that was much better. It is computerized so you get your results as soon as you finish! ahhhh the stressss!!!!
  18. I just took the NLN PAX on Saturday. I used the McGraw Hill study guide and I thought it was helpful for the exam. I obviously have not received my scores yet, but the material in the book was definitely similar to the questions asked on the test. I would focus mainly on the science section as it was definitely the most difficult! I spent about 2 weeks on the science section alone...about 2 hours a day or so and I still felt that I was guessing on every answer! I have never been great at science but it was difficult for me. Best of luck to you in March!
  19. I am applying to LRCC for fall 2010 as well! I heard it is a GREAT program! I know the head nurse at LRGHealthcare and she said the program is phenomenal. They do not accept many students though...so that is the downside! However, also a good thing because then class sizes are small and they can really focus on you. I am applying to LRCC and NHTI. I am beginning to think I should look into a few more programs. When I got started doing some research I looked into Manchester Community as well. Maybe I will apply there as well? I'm taking the NLN on Saturday for LRCC...have you taken it yet? I have read it is very difficult!
  20. Hey everyone, I know there are tons of posts on the NLN but I just have some questions! I took the 'practice exam' on the nln website last night...thinking it was going to be a legitimate practice exam, but it was not! It consisted of 5 questions! The questions were all about injections, handling patients and red blood cells...all things I do not know because I haven't taken any nursing classes...isn't that the point of these exams? To test some of your knowledge before school? At first I thought I signed up for the actual NCLEX-RN exam by mistake they were so hard...but I double checked and I did not. A lot of posts recommended focusing on Physics because that is what the science section mostly consisted of. But where can I study general nursing topics that may be on the exam? The NLN no longer has practice exams...so other than the study guide, what else can I do? Please help!!!! I am stressing out! The exam is only four days away!!!!!!! Whats a girl hoping to be a nurse to do!?
  21. CONGRATS!!! SO Happy for you!! and jealous! Applying in January for fall 2010...cross your fingers!!!! anyone else applying in NH?
  22. Waitressed/Bartender through out college...received a bachelors in Marketing. Outside sales just under 1 year....inside sales just under 1 year... realized I loved working with people and I wanted to help them more then force things upon them! Also, my inside sales job is in the medical device industry which helped me realize I wanted to pursue a career in this field. Applying for Fall 2010 program! :yeahthat:
  23. AMD2009...Hello! I was wondering if you could share your experience at NHTI. I have heard that it is a GREAT program to get into but they are very hard on you and basically "beat" the knowledge into you...for lack of a better way to put it. I am applying to NHTI and LRCC for next Fall. I am so nervous/excited/eager to find out if I get in...but I need to take my exams first. I was just hoping you could enlighten me on how your experience has been. How have the classes been, etc? Anything you'd be willing to share I'd LOVE to hear!!!! Thanks! Michelle
  24. Wow, that was very enlightening! Thank you very much for your feedback; I really appreciate it!
