  1. Yes looking at it from that point thank goodness it's changed because I wouldn't be able to afford to get a hotel to test and them walking around would make me more nervous. I would also think tedting on five nursing subjects would have made you have to be more informed then today. I am glad to be done though... Yes it is drastic but I was such a wreck. I worked two full time jobs and a prn thru nursing school, got divorced, moved twice, lost my dog, and lost a lot thru nursing school. I am just glad to be at this point. Now I just need to figure out where to apply? Where could I be the best nurse? So thankful
  2. My biggest thing now is I have passed and I have no idea of what type of nursing I should apply for when I get my license
  3. That is amazing. I think my instructors said it used to be that way for them. I wonder if pen and paper or computer testing affects pass rates as well.
  4. Oh my goodness. Yall had two day exams? Where are you from? That was definately a long wait and here I was thinking two weeks to get my license was long. One lady was telling me about when it used to be pen and paper and a random skill...
  5. I understand but that's exactly what I was saying. You cannot consider the pvt official. According to the pearsonvue website even the quick results are unofficial so it is not okay until you have a license number. And $200 is a lot. So that is why I chose to use the wrong expiration so I would not be charged either way. I hate that those people had to go thru that pain. I can't think of any job in Mississippi that would allow us to bring the pvt printed out and say this is my official pass record. But I'm not quite sure how other states are doing this. So so so sad that was even possible to happen. I didn't even go and accept the jobs where they let you work basically as a tech for 45 days and you have to pass your nclex within that time period because I wanted to be sure I had this done.
  6. I passed my test got my unofficial quick review $8 test. I would like to say that I believe the pearsonvue trick was good for me and it does work for passing. However, if u find through the pearsonvue trick that you fail you should still not be discouraged because according to the nclex site they use the first 48 hours to make sure the test is accurately graded. So there is still chance for you. Also it gives you a fine print that u r putting your card in to be charged. So to avoid charges I used the wrong expiration. I heard another lady on YouTube say she bout a $25 gift card and tried it. No matter what is found thru pearsonvue you cannot call it official until you get your license number. But the pearsonvue trick did comfort me as a passer.
  7. I would have definitely been more uneasy if everyone said it worked and it didn't. And I feel for the people that that happened to. However, I still have not seen a post where someone got the good pop up and found out they failed. Now that would be more devastating thinking strongly you passed but didn't lol. Also pearsonvue would tell anyone who called that the only official results are the ones they release so today I took a risk by doing that. I understood after I read the payment guidelines that I was taking a risk of being charged. I assume pearsonvue could easily fix it to where it doesn't allow anyone to re register or attempt for a certain time frame and eventually they will. But most charging systems will decline a card if the billing address and or expiration date entered was wrong. I say everyone has to be smart and know nothing is official until the board declares it. What is the world of nursing like? Is it mostly what we fear and dream of?
  8. The pearsonvue trick went bad for you? It was opposite?
  9. Great I will be anxiously awaiting! Good luck!!!!
  10. Hello at 8am I took my test and I got really anxious so I did the pearsonvue trick at 1:30pm. i went in and proceeding to reregister. I put in all my cards information with the wrong expiration and clicked submit both times. I got the message in red saying a recent test was scheduled and I could not register at this time. My my friend did the same and it allowed her to register and get a receipt when she failed in May so I am praying it's right but I will have official result on Wednesday thru quick results!!!
  11. Hello I took my NCLEX-RN today at 8 am I finished at 76 questions. I didn't feel good about it at all but I begged God to just do this for me. I put my card information in at 1:30pm and put the wrong expiration date. I got the good pop up I will update you when I get my quick results.
  12. Did you try the trick that everyone speaks of to see if it gives you a message. I know you can pass or fail at any number over 75 questions. And even if you run out of time, they grade the last 75 minus 15 fly questions. Just pray. I can't wait to be you!
  13. Have you applied anywhere else but Holmes. You are right not to give up but also increase your options. Apply at Hinds if you live close. I did and I got in their RN program as soon as a I got my pre-reqs in. I know at Holmes it is a little easier to get in the LPN than RN but regardless of which program you go to just make sure you have as many prereqs as possible finished before you start in the fall or spring or whatever. It is difficult trying to take classes during. And go ahead and claim it is yours
  14. [quote name=">JustBreathe That is so wonderful!!!!!!
  15. What does nocs mean? Is that another word for PRN or per diem? I understand that most employers are there just to fill their clock up and doesn't care about school. And that was my whole problem. Employers were looking over my school schedule that i provided on the application or encouraging me to drop out. That is why I have been strict on my interviews about asking questions about school, because I don't want to be in the situation with someone who has never been were I am headed. Of course, they wouldn't understand the long nights of studying, the fluctuating hours of class, the stressful days of clinical, and the 18 page care plan and nursing process tool that i have to fill out on clinical days, and the papers. But a nurse manager would understand, well... one with some authority. I worked as a nursing assistant before in a hospital here and I loved it but I started that job before I started school and we already had so many people going to school that she was unable to get HR to really change my schedule. I was working 7a to 7p and sometimes 7-3 and others times 3-11. When I was taking my pre reqs i took them online so it wasn't a problem. But with the same schedule I was having to sneak out of class everyday. So I ended up having to quit that and though it was a weight off my shoulders and my grades improved, I felt an overwhelming regret about quitting. An agency like that would be fantastic but in this part of Mississippi I wonder would I find one? Do you know any names of agencies to look up or how do I find agencies that does that? Still, if you have any information on the agency I would like to know because my classmates are struggling to find a job too. I would imagine though that agencies like this would probably be home health or in a nursing home. Because our hospitals hire for PRN here but it's SOOOO hard to get the position or even be called because usually someone's cousin or uncle gets the job. It is hard to get into hospitals or nursing homes here if you don't know someone. And I don't know anyone. So I am praying and believing that the PCA position will come through.
  16. Thank you. I hope that I get it as well. This is a wonderful opportunity. And it sounds meant.
  17. I applied there. But never heard anything back LOL not a no or a yes. they kept losing my paper work even when I drove it there. I wanted to be there. Then when I ended up working with two of their students from the BSN programs and they couldn't pass their nclex. It was just sad. They had taken it twice and still couldn't pass. But I know two girls in their Adn and they said it was great. One of the girls have an A now and is on the way to third semester. The other girl graduated and went on to get her bachelors thru Mississippi College. I am not sure about it. Some people say it's wonderful. I toured the school and met the instructors. It seemed nice to me. I think it all depends on the person. Because even at hinds my first semester went smooth but some people say it was the most horrible thing they experienced.
  18. I guess the best thing to do is look at the statistics. Go to every hospital job site you know and look and see how many np vs pa positions are available. Yes being a physician assistant would be wonderful but right now nursing is where ppl most easily get a job. Not only because as a nurse they can pay you less to get the job done but because most jobs are leaning towards getting people who can do the whole job. In ms, most hospitals are leaning towards RNs over LPNs because they can pay one person to get the job done rather than paying one to do the job and another to do all the things the LPN is not in scope of practice to do. And they'd rather hire a physician rather than pa for the same reason. Still, all professions are needed and appreciated. But the truth is the statistics never lie.
  19. I used to work there myself. It was crazy how bad things got. They were laying people off left to right. Floors were understaffed and the work got scary. PPL were calling in a lot, using sick leave, and late all the time. Which made it easier for HR to fire some people. I left on my own because I wanted to go back to school. All Lpns were laid off. Some Rns. Mostly people who didn't have their bachelors degree because the job had been asking for years for nurses to get their bachelors and offering to help pay for it. But the good thing about most hospital jobs is that where one hospital couldn't appreciate you, you could practice some where else possibly for a better pay with the right amount of years under your belt.
  20. Just got to whatever subject tab you plan to talk about example : colleges, students, nurses,etc.. then at the top right corner there is a tap that says " Start a topic now" in blue. Click on that.
  21. Congrats! I am a student at Hinds in Jackson, Mississippi. I just passed fundamentals with a b as well and I am so happy and excited. I have been looking for a job since the last week of school. Something to help me learn something about med surg. I wonder do I have pysch next semester as well? Well good luck on your journey !!!
  22. You are absolutely right. I just felt uneasy about wasting someone else's time to interview someone else because I knew those were jobs I would be unhappy with. The jobs I applied for I could have been very content with. But it was one of those situations where I applied for one position but when I got there they asked me about doing something totally different from what I applied for. I did go to the interview sites and cancel my interviews and thank them for giving me a chance. I know that I want to be in a hospital or nursing home doing something that will help me learn more for school. My school strongly discourages us from working but I miss my old job as a nursing assistant and I need some extra money to pay for things. So if i don't get this job, and no one else calls me out of the 70 something applications I put in during the last 3 weeks, then I will take that as a sign from God that I am not supposed to be working. At this point I have been to over 10 interviews in the last 3 weeks. I was offered all but 2 jobs, but the jobs would not honor my school. Most tried to encourage me to quit school and work full time with them or just give me the craziest hours I have ever seen (mornings, evening, and over nights) I do know one thing, the next job that I do get, if I do get one, I will not be quitting for school. So I want to make sure that whomever I interview can give me their word that they would be willing to work with my school. Cause I surely don't want to be sneaking out of class everyday for a job anymore. I need someone that can give me a schedule that I can be successful with. I pray that I can get this patient care assistant job because it's seems like God has put it in front of me. But if i don't, then I know that it's just not in his plans for me.
  23. Well I went for my interview today and it went well I think. I ended up being interviewed by the Director of Nursing for the entire hospital and the med surg nurse manager. I was so relaxed and comfortable. They welcomed me. They told me that they understood my school and work conflicts. The director told me that if she hired me I would know by monday. She said that if I got hired she would float me back and fourth between the med surg floor and post partum. At my old job as a nursing assistant I worked post and antepartum so this would make me happy to do both. She told me that during the summer she was going to work me many hours and give me good eyes and hands on experience LOL but when school starts back she would only put me on schedule for every weekend or every other weekend if its too much. She said if I needed more days she would allow me to work 3-7pm some weekdays so that I would still have time to go home and read and study. She told me that school would come first there and if I worked there the whole time I was in school she'd want me as a nurse when I got out of school. I am just speechless. This must be an answer from God. This has got to be a sign. I had 3 interviews today but after I went to this one, I cancelled my other two because if this one is not the one then I accept that God just doesn't want me working right now. I know that I would never be happy at the other jobs. I hope I get hired. Waiting for Monday to hear back she said she'd call me with a yes or no Monday. I believe that I am going to get this one. I pray that God lets me have it. He didn't bring me this far to leave me now.
  24. I am so excited. I went out today and bought me an interview attire. I felt that it was definately worth it to look and feel brand new. I am looking at interview questions tonight and I just want to be prepared. I have not shared the information with anyone except you guys because I don't want anyone to worry me about it while I wait to see whether or not I am getting hired. I was called for 3 different interviews tomorrow but this is the only one I truly want. I am afraid that they will take too long to get back to me and one of the other jobs will offer me a position before. I pray that God will help me through this stressful process I know that he didn't bring me this for to leave me now. I really want this position!!!!!!
  25. I am so nervous. I just got a call from the hospital that I applied with for Patient Care Assistant on a Med surg floor. They want to interview me tomorrow. I just don't want to screw this up. I don't know what to wear. I just want to be presentable and have a great interview. I need to make a good impression. The floor that I would be working on would be a med surg floor. it's a small hospital and I brand new. It is close to where I live. Everything about it is perfect for me. The position is PRN. I am nervous. I am freaking out! I really want this! Help anyone I need some advice!
