  1. It's so true. I don't think it's thinking like a princess to expect that RNs not do CNA work. RNs just cannot do it all and do it well. When I worked on med-surg (left that in 2012) there were 30 pts. and we were lucky to have even one CNA. I felt like we needed 2 on each side of the hall. It would be 11 freakin' o'clock by the time I saw all of my pts. and passed out meds. And I always got stuck at the end of the shift charting. It's not that I mind wiping butts. I've wiped many a butt in my day, but there are other things to be done. It doesn't take an RN to hand out lunch trays or walk people to the bathroom, or grab a snack for someone. Nurses get the short end of the stick. ALWAYS.
  2. Wow, I shouldn't be shocked at this I guess, but I am shocked! How unprofessional and I can't believe that anyone could get by w/ this. My kids and I were at a museum in DC last summer and someone had one. I think it is ridiculous and the people that do this are trying (and apparently succeeding) to find a loophole in the rules.
  3. I tried to PM you back, again, but it still won't let me! Would you PM me your email address, so we can communicate that way? 80 is passing, btw.
  4. I applied w/ them and they called tonight. I took the online test and passed it. They said if I passed the test, to expect to hear from them mid-Dec. Fingers crossed. Thanks, again!
  5. Thank you! I wrote you a PM but it didn't get sent because I don't post enough on this board, apparently. I will check that company out. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to me!
  6. Anybody?
  7. I have seen some threads about HEDIS jobs but I don't think any recent ones. I applied for one w/ Verisk Oct. 1. A week later they emailed me and asked how many hours I could work and I emailed them back and haven't heard from them since. I told them I could do at least 20. I already have a full time job. I have been a nurse for over 30 yrs. and am currently working in Utilization Management. I'm a little surprised I haven't heard back from them, to be honest! Do any of you have experience w/ this company. If so, how long did they take to get back to you? The job doesn't start until the end of Jan., 2015. Still, I was hoping I would know something by this time. Any wisdom from any of you? :) Thanks, Pam
  8. The hoverer. Not too long ago had a 40 y.o. female pt. whose mother hovered over her like she was 5 yrs. old. The mother and the pt's husband gave me this "look" like I was automatically their enemy. Bizarre. Hellooooo, my goal is to actually help! Ugh, I hate people sometimes.
  9. castlegates, I'm sorry. I meant to quote the person talking about germs! I think it was my kitty walking across my laptop that made me quote you instead. :heartbeat
  10. Seriously, would you like a little cdiff w/ that cookie??? Beyond gross! Let's just pass those germs around, on a silver platter! :barf01:
  11. I think the nurses who are snooty to you....well, it says a lot more about THEM, rather than you. Try and remember that, like the last poster said. There are people like that every where you go. Try to avoid those people-just don't waste your precious time on them. At least there ARE some who are nice and pleasant to you. I once had a job that I lasted 6 wks. at. It was in a small area....me and 3 other nurses. NONE of them cared for me. I had never had that experience before and haven't since. I always felt like I had gotten along really well at work before this one. I actually went home in tears many days and I was in my early 30's. I quit that job without notice after 6 wks. The ONLY nursing job I've ever had where I did such a thing. On the other hand, had a job where we all got along great, were good friends outside the hospital, and looking back on it.....it was great and I haven't had that since either. Hang in there and do the best you can do.....but if you have a physical reaction before going to work.....and this continues, well, I personally feel it might be in your best interest to look for something else.
  12. We have charge nurses, as well. They usually man the desk and take a lighter load of patients. They sign off on MD orders and deal w/ the staffing office, etc.
  13. Hi. I have been a nurse for 25 yrs. but have just gone to medsurg after being at a desk job for 12+ yrs. so I don't really have any advice cuz I'm in the same boat. I'm in my 5th week of orientation. I last worked in a hospital in '96. BUT, I will say, that's why nurses work 24 hrs.....so the next shift can take over where the last shift left off. There will always be SOME things that have to be passed on to the oncoming shift. Don't feel bad about it. I'm not saying we should "dump" on the next shift. LOL. But, it's inevitable (in my opinion) that there will be things that didn't get done and have to be passed on. Nobody's perfect.
