That's what I may end up doing as well. Where do you go to school?

How far do you travel for nursing school?
Wow! That's a lot of traveling! I think an hour-and-a-half won't be so bad. ;-)

How far do you travel for nursing school?
Hi all! I am looking into finally achieving my life dream of becoming a nurse!:) After raising four kiddos and my youngest starting Pre-K next year, I am so ready to begin my next journey in life! My question to you all is this: How far do you typically travel for your nursing school/classes/clinically. Since we only have one LVN program locally, I am going to apply to other schools outside of my area - no more than 1.5 hours away - as well as the online NCTC program. I am just curious as to how many others are out there like me and if so, do you have any advice? Thanks so much!

Could you please pm me as well? I'm looking to get in the next go around and would like to hear any info about the program. Does anyone know if you get to pick your clinical sites or do they assign them to you?

Texas A&M HSC summer 2011
Did you apply for Blinn's LVN or ADN program?
-
Any Blinn LVN hopefuls out there?
Really? What was so bad about it? I would really appreciate any information about the program.

Any Blinn LVN hopefuls out there?
Yep, I am still out here looking into nursing school(s). I attended the Blinn LVN Information Session and learned all about the TEAS test. I have read up on some info about the TEAS test out here on the Allnurses website and have learned some great stuff. I was just wondering if any Blinn LVN hopefuls were out here and if so, have you taken the TEAS test yet and how well did you do? Good luck!

Anyone with experience with Blinn in Bryan?
Heatherxnicole - Thanks for the info! I am actually attending the informational session for the LVN track next week and will also attend one for the RN/ADN. I will take whatever I can get! I will definitely look for the Kaplan TEAS study guide - thanks for the heads up on that! Good luck to all of you who got in!

Texas A&M HSC-Any grads or current/prospective students?
I don't live that far from the Med either. I live south of there, off of Fitz Pkwy/Greens Prarie Road. I will have to look into the program. I know that El Centro used to have an online program but they now require that you do the clinicals in CC. I will definitely check into the TAMUCC program! Thanks for all of the info! -Amy

Texas A&M HSC-Any grads or current/prospective students?
Brandig07- You say that the clinicals are done here at the Med. Are you talking about the Med in College Station? If so, that would be perfect for me as I live here in C.S. -Amy

Texas A&M HSC-Any grads or current/prospective students?
I have a question for all of you. I have my BS but do not meet TAMU-CON's core-requirements. I never had to take college algebra (will take this next semester) or any type of statistics. Should I take both and go for the accelerated program or should I go the slower route, as one previous poster said is better? Thanks!

Anyone with experience with Blinn in Bryan?
Would you say that the math was mostly Algebra? I haven't taken a math course in 20 years - I'm going through a change-your-career phase! Anyway, I was wondering what the math mostly comprised of so I can brush back up on those skills. Did you have a TEAS IV study guide?
-
Anyone with experience with Blinn in Bryan?
Heatherxnicole - I can't remember but don't they only look at certain sections of the TEAS? I mean, you only have to take 2 sections of the test - right? I remember someone saying that at the information session last year.

pre-nursing student looking for advice on where to got to school
Hi! I live in College Station and am also debating on where to apply. Since your GPA is pretty good, overall and pre-reqs, my advice is to go for the BSN. You will get better pay and from what I here, an easier time finding a job. Are you thinking about applying to TAMU Health Science Center College of Nursing? Have you attended one of their info sessions? I attended one today and am considering the accelerated track since I already have my Bachelor's. Do you want to stay in Texas or move to New York? Though Blinn has a good nursing program, you could receive your BSN in just about the same amount of time that you would your ADN at Blinn. Hope this helps some! Let me know what you decide. It's nice to hear from someone locally!

Who is attending the Blinn Information Session next week?
I imagine that it hasn't gotten any better in the past year either. Where did you do your clinicals? Did you perform them at one site or several? Oh, and when you got in, had you any other college experience/completed coursework? Also, what did you get on the TEAS? Unfortunately, I only have a few places in which I can attend. If I get in, I plan to work at least for a couple of years as a LVN before starting my transition in an RN.

Who is attending the Blinn Information Session next week?
That's awful! Unfortunately, there aren't too many nursing schools really close to College Station. I am also going to apply to TAMU's nursing program as well as the Joe Davis nursing program in Huntsville. Did you complete the Blinn program? Where are you now?

Who is attending the Blinn Information Session next week?
I will be attending this for the LVN program. I heard that last year Blinn had over 450 applicants for their LVN program. Has anyone ever tried to get in and are trying again? Has anyone heard anything about what else they are looking for besides the top 30 test scores?

Lonestar 2010
I am applying for the fall semester. I can't remember if they have a summer one - I have been looking at so many nursing schools that it's hard to keep them all in order! :) What about you? When are you applying?
-
Lonestar 2010
I really don't know much of anything else. I am still debating on whether or not to attend the information session. It's not mandatory, but highly recommended. If you find out anything else, please let me know!

lonestar college nursing????? best school
Do you know when this program is suppose to begin? I already have my bachelor's degree and am doing the career-switch thing as well. I will check out their website; however, if you have any other info, I would love to hear about it!

Sam Houston State University - Nursing Program?
Thanks so much for the info! I know that Huntsville Memorial has the Joe Davis program but I was really surprised that SHSU did not have one.

Lonestar 2010
That is correct. You can not take the HESI until then. I believe that if you have already taken it in the past, some portions might count, but if you took it now and then applied I don't think it would count. It's sort of confusing. I really do not understand why you have to wait to take the exam. I think that I read that you have to take it at one of their testing sites as well.

Fall 2010 Lonestar ADN Hopefuls
Thanks Stephanie! I just really need to speak with an advisor and then register for the refresher course(s). I really don't want to retake all of my science courses, but I may not have much of a choice. But if that means getting into program, then so be it! I'll do what it takes!!!
