How would Medicare for all affect nursing?
You are incorrect. He just discussed it about 30 min ago at the PA townhall. He used the VA as an example of what his healthcare plan would look like...government run. You would not be able to have your own private insurance.

How would Medicare for all affect nursing?
Have you ever tried to find a PCP for a traditional Medicare patient? Both Medicare and Medicare have low reimbursement rates. As a case manager, in my state, I find Medicaid is better for the patient. More dme is covered, patient can get a home provider, transportation to appts provided, little or no copay for meds that even Medicare will not cover.

How would Medicare for all affect nursing?
All patients would be covered but by a government run plan. Many doctors already refuse to see Medicare patients because the reimbursement is low. Can you imagine when the government knows the doctor has no choice how much less the reimbursement will be? I imagine that FNPs will be doing alot more instead of a doctor, but without the increased pay.

How would Medicare for all affect nursing?
None would be incorrect. Bernie plan does include getting rid of private insurance completely. The whole point of his bill is to replace private insurance with a government run plan.(Watch his town hall tonight. ) Private care was not clear wording. However, I didn't mention anything about delivery of care. I would assume that doesnt change only how it is managed.

Why become a CNA? Be a Medical assistant instead
There are lots of openings at LTCs because there is a need. The jobs are not glamorous, but CNAs are valuable in any setting for that reason. I work in a geriatric psyche ward and many of the patients are disabled, incontinent, and tyrannical geriatrics as you say, but they are also human beings that deserve respect. I find the job very rewarding.

Dear future nursing students,
great post! The original post did not come off as hateful. I felt like she was giving an FYI of things that will annoy you, but you should get over. My dad use to say "the dog that gets hit, barks the loudest." That is what it sounds like here to people upset with her post.

What's in your CNA work bag?
Good job Fuzzywuzzy... Keep it simple.:)

Why become a CNA? Be a Medical assistant instead
No one hires Medical Assistants anymore. There are 3 girls in my CNA class who are med assistants, but have been working in that same field for over 10 years. They are in the class, because they now need to be state certified. That means CNA class. Also, phlebotemists can not get hired unless they have a CNA license.

How hard is it to just type Christ instead of just X...X saves you like 1 second, unless you type really slow

2010 TAMUCC Nursing students!!

2010 TAMUCC Nursing students!!
5'4 109? I wish. I guess a perk of getting our education is not having to do that kind of work. I too like to think

2010 TAMUCC Nursing students!!
I am getting a CNA license too. I really wanted to do something that had very flexible hours. I prefer to work at night while my baby is asleep. You did not like CNA...did you still think you would like nursing? If you do not get in the Fall.. dont give up. You could have a whole bunch of of people apply that have your same GPA. They are very hush hush about GPA so it can be frustrating. Its just the luck of the draw cause you never know what the pool of candidates your up against looks like. You can not apply for two semesters at the same time. You dont find out in time if you got accepted for the summer until it is too late to try and apply for the Fall. So i really need to get in or Ill have to wait until Spring 2011! eeek.

2010 TAMUCC Nursing students!!
The letter they sent states that they will mail acceptance letters in March. I only want to go to TAMUCC so I hope to get in. There really is no way to tell what GPA is good or not, because it can fluctuate so much semester to semester. Some you need a 3.8 some you need a 3.1. It just depends on who applied that cycle. I just keep praying that God opens the door for me. Corpus really is the best place to go to school. You cant help but stay out of trouble. I do plan on doing some things I never did when I grew up there. Ie.. more boat n net. ha ha Are you taking Health Alt now? I am taking it starting tomorrow. Have you heard anything about that class? OMG! You are so funny. I am living in Houston, but have applied for the BSN summer start program. Your description of CC is right on. I have spent most of my time in San Antonio so I know what you are talking about. However, I look forward to being in CC. The slow pace is something I welcome now.
