Can't afford to get to nursing school
After reading your second post, I say go for it. And congrats on your pregnancy. I have two little girls, so I know it has to be hard to leave your children behind. But we have to do what is best for our family. Have you tried private student loans? These are thru companys like Sallie Mae, NelNet, and others who hold our school loans. They'll run a credit check and you may have to get a co-signer. Call them. I know Sallie Mae took my info over the phone. Also, see if a bank will loan you money for school. Most banks give loans for school with proof of course. Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Odd circumstances, need some advice!
I too fail my first yr in college. But now I'm about to start NS in the fall. The only diff is I wan't able to apply for a BSN program due to my overall GPA. So, I ended up applying to my CC and they only looked at the classes needed for the pre-req to nursing. So good luck and if we all did it, so can you. :yeah:Oh, you have to turn in all your undergrad transcripts since ADN and BSN are undergrad programs.

For those of you who have been accepted......
I plan on keeping a full time job at least for the first semester. I have a 2 and 3yr old girls and a husband and bills and right now, I don't see how I canstop working while in school. There's a thread under the student tab where some people are working 40hrs with a family while in NS. It's doable, but it'll be hard. Oh, I will also have the help of my mother who will cook and clean for me twice a week....thanks Mom . Good luck to us all.

Question about titers and shots
Most hospitals provide employees with the needed vaccines/boosters if you didn't test postive for the titers for free. I got all of my needed shots when I started working at my hositpal about 2yrs ago. You should definately call your hospital's occ health dept to see if you can get these done for free. Also, my school provides vaccines at orientation for those who need, but at $55, so check w/your school too.....Good luck

What's a good reason to quit nursing school?
I don't think you should quit after your first clinical. I have a couple of friends in nursing school and their first clinicals were in nursing homes. My opinion is that you should stick thru it. The nursing field is so broad, why would you quit after on clinical. Hang in there and make it to your next semester. The things you want in life are not easy to get, so just hang in there. I don't think your first clinical should be your reason for quitting. Good Luck.

NET being dc'd??
I think you should take anyway. I know that SCC, FL stop using the NET and now uses the TEAS test as of 2009, but they allowed anyone who took the NET from 1-08 to 12-08 to use those scores up until Spring 2010 ASN application. Also, you ask the advisor for the program you're applying for about the NET not being used and how long will they except those scores.

nursing program fall 2009
I got my acceptance letter in Jan 09 and a packent in the mail in May 09 with everything that needed to be done before starting in Aug 09. The biggest advise I've been getting from friends already in the program is try to get your physical done right before school starts because you have to do one every yr. The later you do it, the more time you have before your next physical is due. Good luck. Who's program are you starting? I'm starting at VCC in Orlando, Fl.
