  1. Ok sooo, I just got an email notifying me that I was accepted to the ETP Program for 2010. I was waitlisted forever as well, but this is ridiculous notice. I too had already made plans to attend another university and am now just wondering about Columbia. They want my deposit by Wednesday (less than 24 hours!!) and the program starts in 2 weeks!! How am I supposed to find out about financial aid and figure out how to pay for everything in 2 weeks?!! Luckily I'm from Jersey so if I do decide to attend I can just commute to the city but SHEESH!!
  2. hi psychrn and jamie s!! i'll be in the direct entry program starting in the fall as well!!! i was just up at northeastern this weekend to look around and completely fell in love with the school haha. i don't have any information on a weekly schedule but i do have a semester by semester course schedule and you can probably figure out a schedule from there on neu's courses webpage. while i was there i met with janet briand-mcgowan (the director of the de program) who gave me all of the following information... year 1 -- fall nrsg2210 health and illness nursing perspective nrsg2220 nursing intervention, assessment & community care nrsg2221 lab for nursing intervention assessment & community care nrsg5126 pathophysiology for advanced practice nrsg3302 nursing with women and families nrsg3303 clinical for nursing with women and families hsci1105 nutrition spring nrsg5117 advanced pharmacology nrsg3320 nursing care of adults i nrsg3321 clinical for nursing care adult i nrsg3400 nursing and promotion of mental health nrsg3401 clinical for nursing & promotion of mental health nrsg3323 intermediate intervention & assessment nrsg3324 lab for intermediate intervention & assessment hsci4510 health care ethics summer nrsg3420 nursing care of adults ii nrsg3421 clinical for nursing care of adults ii nrsg4500 nursing with acutely ill children and families nrsg4501 clinical for nursing with acutely ill children & families nrsg4340 nursing care in community nrsg4341 clinical for nursing care in community year 2 --- fall nrsg4995 comprehensive nursing practicum nrsg4600 nursing with vulnerable populations nrsg4601 clinical for nursing with vulnerable populations nrsg5118 health care systems and professional role development **the purple ones are graduate courses that we would complete ahead of time. after the fall semester of year 2 we would begin the co-op program for ~9 months. we would then come back to the graduate program in september and complete those courses -- they suggest classes part time and working part time. as far as housing i have been trying to figure that out as well. i am from new jersey and know absolutely nothing about boston haha. i've been asking around and i hear brookline is one of the best places to look. i was also told to stay away from dorchester, roxbury, and jamaica plains because they are a little sketchy at night. have you all heard anything? i've met one other person that will in the program through another person on facebook. someone should definitely create a facebook group though!
  3. Hi all! I see that you all are current students in the DE program at NEU. I was just recently accepted for Fall 2010 Entry. I'm super excited! I've been up to NEU twice but neither visit was very informative because one trip was over the summer and the campus was deserted lol and the other was my interview. I would love to attend a graduate open house however I live 5 hours away in New Jersey and cannot travel up there during the week. The only information I have is from what's online. I'm trying to decide between NEU and one other school. In order to make my decision I was hoping you could give me some insight into what its like being in the program. How many students are in the program? What's the first semester like? Do clinicals in hospital settings start immediately? Aside from classroom learning what other methods are used to prepare you? (i.e. simulation labs?) I've read on a few discussion boards that its difficult to get clinical placements because of all of the competition from other nursing programs at other schools - is this true? I'm not sure if you'll know the answer to this question yet but is it difficult to find a job upon completion of the program? I've heard that there are very few openings for new grads in the Boston area. Do you live on campus? Is it expensive? Okay, I think I've wracked your brain enough for one morning haha! Thank you so much in advance for your feedback :)
  4. I got into Northeastern, and was waitlisted at MGH... Is anyone a current student in NEU's DE program? Could you shed some light on what you think about the program? :)
  5. I got into Northeastern!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Hey has everyone joined the facebook group?? Search for "Jefferson FACT '10 Entry" :)
  7. OMG PsychRN CONGRATS!! That's so exciting!!! Ahh the anticipation is killingggggggg me!! Just tell me already!! haha JayMay, I went to my app but I don't have that link .... :/ i hope that's not bad sign. Keeping my fingers crosseddd
  8. Yea I know what you mean about feeling neutral about it. I feel like they were trying to get a feel for our personalities to see how/if we'd fit in with the goals and vision of the program, you know? I had a very casual interview just like that one for another school and I got into there so I'm crossing my fingers for NEU!! :)
  9. I haven't heard from MGH yet either... For those waiting to hear from NEU for an interview, I had an interview with them on Friday (the 19th), which I was notified about 2 days earlier via email. I would suggest calling them maybe -- it couldn't hurt. I applied there in early November and just heard from them last week so I don't know what kind of system they have going, if one at all but it's worth a shot. I was told that decisions weren't going out until late March, April 1st at the latest so there's definitely a significant chunk of time for more interviews. Good luck :)
  10. Hi, It went well. The woman I interviewed with was very nice. It was more of a casual conversation rather than an interview which I liked. Did you have yours yet? Good luck if you havent. :)
  11. I have a blackberry so I'll probably end up using that. I'm so exciteddd!!!!!!!!!
  12. I have an interview at Northeastern tomorrow too! Good luck to everyone!!! :)
  13. Hi all!! Congrats to everyone who got accepted!! That's awesome!! I got waitlisted for PNP w/ Oncology Concentration Does anyone know the chance of people on the wait list getting accepted?
  14. Hey all, I just received an email this morning from Northeastern for an interview this Friday. Best of luck to all!!:)
  15. Nope, I still haven't heard anything either
