  1. Congratulations- UMass Worcester has a really small program so its pretty hard to get into!
  2. Are we the same person? LOL I was thinking the same thing about UMass but I decided that if I'm going to spend the next couple years in a city, I'd much rather it be Boston than Worcester! Home is about 40 min outside Boston (west) so I'll be taking the commuter rail right into Ruggles. Although I'm not thrilled about moving home, I figured it will only be for a year or so. I can't wait to meet you & the other 28 nursing enthusiasts! :wink2:
  3. That's so funny- I go to Thayer all the time & love the East side. I'd love to get together sometime before the fall. I'm glad there's going to be another recent grad in the program- I think the average age at Northeastern is 25!:nuke:
  4. Congrats! I go to school in Providence too, at PC. Where do you go?
  5. Anyone else super excited to be accepted into Northeastern's direct entry program? We're going to be nurses! I'm 21 (graduating in May), from Massachusetts. How about everyone else? I plan on living at home, at least for the first part of the program then hopefully moving to Boston for the co-op RN experience. I know September is quite a ways away but I can't wait to meet all of you Congrats and Good luck to anyone who's still waiting to hear! And If anyone has been through the program, do you have any advice for us newbies?
  6. I applied to the Northeastern direct-entry program in December and heard back last Friday
  7. Yea its tough to find out how the different schools compare, I'll have to look at that website- I was accepted to UMass today actually but I'm ~85% sure I'm going to Northeastern. I've spent the last 4 years in Providence and would love to spend the next 4 in Boston! Plus I can commute from home on the commuter rail. The UMass program looks pretty intense, but the faculty seems so supportive. Thanks for the advice- good luck making your decision!
  8. Congrats everyone- I was accepted to Northeastern Friday! It really is a great program- it may be 4 years, but the co-op gives you a chance to make money (without paying tuition), and if you go back to finish your masters part-time, a hospital may even help you with tuition. Its located in the Longwood medical area so you'll be exposed to great healthcare and make connections that will help you find a job later on. The cohort size at Northeastern is 27-30. I don't know much about Columbia's program but I am sure its great too! Good luck making your decisions! ps. I swear I don't work for Northeastern haha
  9. Thanks! I had an interview last weekend and my advice would be just to be yourself- the questions were very general- why Northeastern? why you want to be an NP? Just know the program and know yourself and you'll do fine- Good Luck!
  10. i just received my acceptance to the northeastern direct-entry program in the mail today- my mom opened it over the phone i was so nervous! but now that i'm in, i have to worry about the cost :sofahider if anyone is currently in the program (or who has been through it), do you find the cost manageable? its my first choice but i'm terrified of being in major debt! any advice is appreciated! thanks
  11. Thanks Jennifer! It went really well, have you heard yet? I think they interview all applicants so I wouldn't be worried about it. I can't wait to be done with this whole process and know where I'll be next year!
  12. Jennifer- they left a message on my cellphone. It didn't say "Go Huskies" but the number was 6178776784. I hope you hear from them soon!
  13. Fionagurl- I only just got a call, no worries :nuke:
  14. ac123- Thanks! Yea, everyone keeps telling me that Northeastern has a great program, and Simmons just formed an agreement with my school (I'm a senior in college) with benefits for applicants who meet certain criteria. The high NCLEX pass rate and the location of both Northeastern and Simmons are huge selling points for me- I'm sure I would save $$$ going to UMass but I'm not so sure I want to move to Worcester. I will definitely try practicing in front of the mirror- Thanks for all of your help!
  15. has anyone interviewed at northeastern for the direct-entry program? i have an interview this saturday and i don't know what to expect- any advice? i got into regis and should hear from umass in a few weeks. i also applied to simmons. my biggest concern (besides getting in) are the student loans i'll have to face when i graduate. if anyone has been through one of these programs, is there anything you can tell me about the strength of the programs in comparison to their cost!? thanks!:paw:
