  1. Bumping this thread because I just got an email to call about the hiring process. I can't talk to anyone until Monday, but came on here to see what the process was. I guess I better start brushing up on a few things. Anyone have anymore recent input?
  2. UPDATE: It's been 2 weeks now and I still haven't heard anything. I called Friday and left a message at human resources and today I called the nurse recruiter and left a message. Is this unusual to have gone 2 weeks and not heard anything? I'm getting rather discouraged. EDIT: Nevermind - it's back to the drawing board - just got an email that says I didn't get it.
  3. Thanks, I guess I'm just nervous. I had a previous job interview for an ER position at a different hospital and they emailed the next day that I didn't get it.
  4. I had a great interview for a med/surg FT nights position on Tuesday (5/24) afternoon. I haven't heard anything yet and someone on my reference list let me know last night that he hasn't been called either. How long should I wait before calling and asking my status? Should I just hang in there and hope that no news is good news? Thanks!
  5. L&D is one of the areas I am most interested working in, but haven't had the opportunity to yet. That being said I had the same problem during my clinical in L&D. I wasn't all out bawling or anything but I shed a few tears for the lady partsl births, but not for the c-section. At the time I felt that it would be something that would go away with time. Good luck!
  6. Hey everyone, I have my ACLS certification class tomorrow and Saturday and am currently looking into PALS certification as well. The search feature on the AHA site isn't working for me right now and so far everything I can find online list PALS as an online course. Is this true or do I need to keep looking for a place to take this class locally? Jacksonville, FL if anyone has any ideas, thanks! PS - I'm super excited for an interview for an ER position on Monday!
  7. My school is 93 and above for an A and 80% passing: Pharm - B -I missed an A by 4.5 points...not %...but actual points in class concepts - A Techniques/Clinical - B Health Assessment - B And if nursing grades followed regular college grades where 90 was an A I would have had a 4.0 But I'm pretty happy with how I did overall.
  8. Being on a watch list means that they had a bad inspection and if they don't pass the next one they could get shut down. *Asked my mom who just retired last year from being the manager of human resources for the state vet home in menlo park/edison.
  9. I've still got a ways to go since I'm just in my first semester and won't even be testing for my license until January of 2011 but anyone know about Flagler rates?
  10. Do we need to wear our khakis and polos for tomorrow? Good luck on the tests everyone!
  11. Thanks guys!
  12. I feel like I'm missing something with the independent studies. I printed out 4 things. The first is 16 pages and says independent study 1. math for medications. The second is 6 pages and says dosage calculations topics 1 & 2. The third is just one page that has memorized facts on it. And the last is a 6 page document that says independent study medical terminology. Do you guys see anything missing? Thanks!
  13. On the 31st we just have the med term test and part one of the dosage calc, right? When is part two of dosage calc?
  14. I got through but now it says class hold for all four and then "Program objective 2149 required for NURXXXX" Guess I'll be calling them tomorrow to get it straightened out.
  15. I tried the express registration and it just goes to a screen that says temporarily unavailable still. So I guess I'll just keep trying and call tomorrow if it continues to be a problem.
  16. So I got home from orientation and am trying to register for my classes (Section 8). First it tells me there is a hold and it can't do it, to try and put them in again later. I try again later and it says the registration portlet is temporarily unavailable. I called and left a message, but is anyone else having a problem?
  17. So do we find out what our schedules/classes are and what books to buy at orientation? And am I going to be able to just find out what books and shop around or are they going to have to be bought the day of orientation? So excited to see everyone on Monday!
  18. Ordered my polos today, going for my physical and ID tomorrow, and ordering a few other things today. Anyone know if the hemostat should be straight or curved?
  19. I'm wondering about the student IDs at Kent as well, it's a lot closer for me - if they just have to be done by the start of class and not orientation do you guys think its possible to get it done on campus the day of orientation? One more question on pocket organizer...is it the nylon organizer kit ($12) or the pocket pal($4) on the meridys.com site? Anyone find this elsewhere? And the skills kit says to call and pay for it when you pick it up...pick it up at the address listed for their store or somewhere on campus?
  20. I'm using my insurance as well. I have my bloodwork appt tomorrow and physical scheduled for the 11th. I bought my scrub pants today at the uniform outlet on Beach blvd, so now I just have to get the polo, lab coat and top. Anyone know how the sizing runs on the lab coats and polos? Are the polos womens or unisex? I don't want to get something that's falling off, as it is I had to try on 4 different sizes to find the right pants today. And...anyone have a link for what this pocket thingy looks like? I feel like I may already have one from my EMT days and don't want to have to buy something new if I don't have to.
  21. crtm0924, A message is enough, I called Monday and left a message, and called again yesterday to be sure. I actually got a live person yesterday and they already had me marked down as accepting my place.
  22. I feel like I'm spamming this thread but I'm so excited! Another quick question for you guys....I'm taking Intro to Soc. and Human Growth/Dev at the same time as the RN program (fall 09 semester) and have already signed up and paid for these classes, Mondays and Wednesdays at Kent campus. Do you guys think if this is a schedule conflict they'll work it out with me so that I can get them done with the nursing classes schedule?
  23. Jordyn congrats...I'm glad to see another person from Clay made it in! and for everybody... I know that orientation is at the North campus, but are all of the classes going to be there too? I was hoping for Kent or Deerwood.
  24. So I just called to accept and got a crazy long voicemail message. Am I supposed to wait until the day of the 30th to call, leave a message, or keep calling back until I get a person?
  25. Jordyn, where in clay are you? I'm in Green Cove Springs, but closer to Fleming Island than the center of my town.
