Any EC ASN grads go on for BSN through EC?
I am also thinking about starting RN to BS program, starting in January 2012. I took EC's LPN to RN program, and was very satisfied. Lunah, what about the Chamberlain's program did you prefer over EC? Hope you don't mind me jumping in on this thread! Thanks! K

First time passers of CPNE?
Hi! Passed first time in NY!!! Had to chime it, It IS Possible!! I had a number of people say negative remarks, stay away from those people!! I took a workshop, I really felt it was extremely helpful. I don't think I could have gotten my mind around everything without it. the workshop gave me tools to keep the critical elements straight in my mind, keep myself organized, and this helped me keep my nerves in check (somewhat ) Loved the mneumonics and grid that most of the workshops use to stay on track, but if you can do this without it as I see a previous poster did, then go for it! Be organized and confident. Showed the CE's you know your stuff and they were very kind to me. Good luck!

EC grad - passed NCLEX!
@beachnurse, I used the Kaplan book for questions, and they had one online test with the purchase of the book. Saunders is awesome for the content, but I think the nclex questions are more in line with Kaplan. Also recommend Lacharity prioritization and delegation book. I got alot of questions about prioritization and delegation, very glad I got that book. Good luck!

EC grad - passed NCLEX!
After all the EC tests, the lady knew me at the pearson site, we were joking around that we did not want to see one another again, LOL! After all the testing experience and the stress I felt for CPNE, I was amazingly calm for this! Loops - best of luck to you. So glad the red ink has helped you! I surely know I could not have pased CPNE without it! Let us know when you PASS!!!

EC grad - passed NCLEX!
Don't get a chance to post here often, but had to share. CPNE in May, official graduation 7/15, FINALLY got my Authorization to test, and scheduled the nclex right away! Passed my nclex RN this past Friday!!! School is addictive, need to figure out a RN to BSN program!! Taking this semester off and will be back again next semester. Not so sure about EC's RN to BSN, any suggestions? Contacted Ohio state, but have not heard back from them yet. What other online programs are good? Thanks, and Good luck to all the EC students who are taking the CPNE and soon will be nclex ready!!! :nurse:K

NY ATT
Finally got my ATT, and scheduled the test right away. They did not need the photo (I called), so covered there. Called every 10 days or so, and one lady pushed it through for me, loving her. I PASSED the nclex, now I can finally start sending out my resumes

NY ATT
Any fellow New Yorkers out there who recently received Authorization to test? I feel like I have been waiting forever!! If anyone can share how long it took to get their ATT, I would appreciate it. Also, is a photo required with the Nclex application? I looked over that paperwork 10x before I mailed it in to see if a photo was required, and did not see anything on the form. Just reading over my schools forms, and it mentions a photo. I hope not, I would hate to wait all this time, and have the forms sent back "incomplete".. Really want to take this test asap, it seems like it has been looming forever!! thanks!

CPNE acceptance and date given on the same day!
I did take a workshop. I don't think I would have been able to tackle that CPNE manual by myself. In addition, got tips and mneumonics, practice on labs. For me it was invaluable, I passed with no repeats. I think I saw you taking chancellors? Though I don't know that one (didn't research), the money for the workshop for me was well spent. Best of luck to you!

CPNE acceptance and date given on the same day!
Anjule, I did not see any of Utica, other than the dunkin donuts, Walmart, and applebees!! I was by myself, and wasn't about to go do a tour of the Saranac brewery by myself, LOL, or the casino!! The hardest thing was the first lab on the first day, I was getting so nerved up. The CE was so nice, she told me to relax and start when I was ready. Be careful of your time on the IV push station, I came awful close. Thankfully I only had to push 1ml over 1 minute. I think if it was a 5 minute push I would have been in trouble. as far as the PCS, nothing extremely difficult was assigned to me, had to keep those nerves in check and use my grid mneumonic to make sure I did / and charted everything!! Tried to just take my time, check or highlight my sheet AND my grid that everything was complete. Double check yourself, stay organized and the CE's were very good. They did look truly happy for me when I was done. Good luck

CPNE acceptance and date given on the same day!
Good luck to you! I just posted to you on another thread too. My head was spinning when I got a CPNE date two days later, LOL!! Now you know your date, and you can practice an prepare!! As I posted in my other messages, I tested at Utica in May. Nice facility, CA's and CI's were real nice. Be prepared, show you are organized, and you can surely do it!

Anyone taking the CPNE @....
@anjule, I took my CPNE recently at Utica. You will like the facility, and the CA and CE's were all really nice. At any site... Know your stuff, be confident and organized, and you can do it!!! Best of luck to you!

NY resident here.. I started my nursing career as an LPN. Took a Boces program then took LPN to RN bridge. I know every upstate county has Boces, not sure about the city though.. Good luck.

Possibly the Quickest $2000 Ive Spent!!
I studied 2 1/2 months. I work perdiem, so I took less hours. Two weeks prior, took no hours and studied like mad. I had not looked at the manual at all prior to that times, so I think my study time was good for me.. Good luck!

Don't worry about the FCCA, that is non-issue. If you can write a basic care plan and some prioritizing.. The CPNE is doable. Just know your stuff! All the people who passed with me took a workshop or on-line workshop, so I can't say enough good things about the extra $ I spent.. got me thru on 1x. One time is enough stress, LOL.

Yes, always the highest priority diagnoses. But the patients I got were in for abdominal surgery. So this was what I used in my cases. If you got a pneumonia patient, inef airway may be the care plan you would use. What I am saying is to look at the care you are assigned, it could help you with your care plans. If pneumonia pt, you may use inef aiway with care plan interventions of IS and C&DB - if those were assigned to you by the CE. Does that make sense? Hope that helps, I will not put in my 2cents, LOL, I am not explaining well!! Sheri's workshop will clarify all this for you!!

To add to dstep, pick a simple care plan that you can carry out when you are in the room. I think I used Acute Pain for all three! Look at the areas of care that you are assigned. Think about a care plan that could inlude an intervention that is part of the area of care. for example. I had a post-appendectomy. I had comfort care assigned. I used acute pain (pt had reported 6/10 in the past 24 hrs), then for my interventions I think I repositioned patient and provided distraction. Simple, easy, and able to complete while in the room... Good luck!

Good luck, just passed my CPNE at Utica. Read the whole manual front to back at least once, and know those critical elements like the back of your hand, LOL! I took a workshop too, really critical for me to pull everything together - and tools to stay on track with care and documenting. Send in care plans and documentation to EC to critique as well!!

PASSED CPNE
Thanks everyone for the kind congrats! I got my date 3/2 I think, so I have a little over eight weeks. I took a workshop http://www.necworkshop.com/home and have been studying like mad for the past eight weeks. There is alot to know, and I am not kidding when I say you need to know your critical elements. You need to know how to use the Mosby's care plan book, and how to write a good nursing dx, charting, evaluation. I chose to take a workshop, I needed guidance to navigate the critical elements and memory cues to make up a grid to follow. The people who were there trying to get thru it on previous experience were not successful. I was surprised anyone would try to go on their previous work experience with a $2000 test. certainly helps, but you need to do it their way, in the correct order, and in a certain amount of time. With that said, I have to say it is doable, 4 out of 6 passed it. You are performing basic RN nursing skills. Keeping nerves in check is a big obstacle, for me anyway! Practice practice practice the skills! Good luck to the many people here who I see coming up to this test. It feels good to have completed the program!!!

PASSED CPNE
So thrilled to share I have passed CPNE in Utica. Just got home and had to share with allnurses! I am going to take a nap now, trouble sleeping all weekend, . The site was really nice, the examiners were very fair, recommend the site!! Stress is one of the biggest challenges. You must dot all your i's and cross all your T's. I took Tina in PA workshop, I couldn't have done it without it! You have to know your critical elements, and your careplanning/charting. Know a bunch of us here are coming up to CPNE, so had to share my good news!!
