Anywhere in the country hiring new LPN grads with no experience?
Prisicruz - thanks for the info! I did finally get a job at a hospital - 24hrs 3-11 shift. I am still on orientation and so far so good. My manager even said that she is trying to get me more hours too so if she does I will be all set. If not then its onto looking for a per diem but at least I will have experience and it might be easier to land the per diem job. Is your place hiring per diem also?Good luck getting into GL Tech and if you have any questions feel free to ask! Its a great program - intense but so worth it.

Anywhere in the country hiring new LPN grads with no experience?
I dont mind Nursing Homes at all - in fact thats where I have been applying but most of the ads for them also say 1 year of experience. Thanks for all your replies - you have given me a lot to think about!!!

Anywhere in the country hiring new LPN grads with no experience?
Hi...I am a new grad LPN and passed my boards July 30th. I have no previous experience in the healthcare field except some volunteer work - I ran a family business for the past 20 years. Anyway since I passed my boards I have applied for at least 120 jobs online and in person and have not heard from anyone. How are you supossed to get experience if no one will hire you. I am becoming frantic and will move anywhere to get that elusive 1 year of experience (Im in Mass). What is a person to do? Is there anywhere that is willing to give a new grad a chance? Trying to keep the faith but its hard. Thanks!

Hi Zelda! Congrats on graduating. The LPN program was the hardest thing I have ever done which is why my postings stopped!!! I took the NCLEX last week and passed so I am officially a NURSE! Take your time and breathe while doing it - seriously that test is crazy! But search on this forum for the Pearson vue trick if you cant wait for your results. It works! Now to find a job.....good luck to you!

NCLEX PN
Well the official results are in and I passed! Xbea - I took the Kaplan course and I just did questions every day for 4 weeks. Really I dont think there is a way to study - nothing that I studied (different diseases, etc) was even on the test. Basically I did all the Kaplan questions online and then went thru and reviewed each of them. Also I scored a lot lower than your dad so I am sure he will be fine - good luck to him!

Three months to study, advise please
Maybe you should reschedule to take it sooner??? I took mine yesterday after graduating 5 weeks ago and I thought it was too long....wish I took it 1 week ago - it is torture waiting to take it and you cant really study for it - I took the Kaplan reveiw course and read the book cover to cover and the only thing that helped me was doing practice questions. We were advised to do 100 questions per day and not to study too much. You made it thru school and you know what you know so maybe 3 months is too long but you have to do whats best for YOU. Good luck!

NCLEX PN
Took the NCLEX yesterday - the computer shut off at 85 questions - I really thought I failed because I got about 20 SATA questions and I didnt recognize 1 drug on my test. I was too scared to do the PV trick but last nite at midnite I got the courage and I got he good Pop up! I am very happy but wont be 100% happy until my final results but I am hopeful that this trick works!

Greater Lowell Tech LPN 2011
First....YAY we made it - how was the NCLEX? I am taking mine next week and I am scared to death! Irish & Lola.....be prepared for the hardest year of your life! If I have any advice the most important would be to do as well as you can on the exams in the beginning of each term, that way you wont be so stressed out at the end of the term having to get a 90 or something in order to pass the class. Also, if you need help please verbalize it - study groups are a godsend as long as you find the right people to study with. Good Luck!

Dear July NCLEX-PN takers!
Good luck everyone! I am taking mine at the end of July so hardcore studying has begun!!!

North Shore CC LPN program
Erin I took that CNA class in 2009! Did you have 2 different instructors? They were awesome! I didnt know that about northern essex.....seems like there are wait lists everywhere. Thanks for the good wishes and best of luck to you!

North Shore CC LPN program
Oh I didnt realize you have kids! The program is awesome but hard.....everyone in my class who has a family and/or works full time just has it 10 times harder. The evening program is 4 nites a week plus every other sat & sun 8am-2pm. You literally have no life. I have 9 weeks to go and the countdown is on! I am planning on furthering my education but I dont want to wait 3 years to get accepted to a program.....even the lpn-rn has waitlists I think. But I have no pre reqs done so i might have to wait that long. I am just taking it one day at a time for now - finish 3rd term, graduate, pass NCLEX, get a job and THEN figure out the rest.Any other programs for you - what about northern essex? Good luck in whatever you decide!!!

Juanbobo - It was a lot to read in a short time but did you get the NET study guide? It warned over and over that it would be 33 questions in 30 mins. I think it is because as LPNs we have to think and act quickly so the reading was testing us on how quickly we could absorb the reading and use analytical thinking for answering the questions. But it was a bit much - I am a fast reader and when we got the 5 min warning - I had 6 unanswered questions. Good luck on passing and keep us posted!

Thanks for the info Keke.....JMarie - I am freaking out. Its hard not to think about it but basically I have everything riding on getting accepted. I can not wait another year to re-apply. Keke - If you dont mind me asking.....Did you have a great high school transcript and did you have any college transcripts? I did good in high school but not so much in college and I never finished. I know that Mr yavarow said to include college transcripts but I dont know if that will hurt or help me. I was planning on explaining how different I was then (prob over 15 yrs ago) than now, but you said someone else is the one who accepts/rejects? I dont think that is fair since we are not even meeting that person. What do you guys think about me includung the college transcripts? Thanks to everyone who has replied to all of my questions!!! It is great that we have this message board - I dont know what I would do if I had no place to vent!

JMarie - That was me with the coach bag!!!! OMG that is too funny that we sat right next to each other. I did think to myself "hmmm I wonder if that is JMarie" but I didnt want to say "Do you post to allnurses.com" because then if it wasnt you I would look like a crazee- I loved your burberry!!!! I saw you writing the essay and it looked like you wrote a lot so good for you!!!! I couldnt believe how many people were there and the fact that so many seemed to not follow the directions with the director calling out to them!!! I totally agree about the subject content being easy to read but I thought there were a lot of trick questions. I forget what we are supossed to score for the reading - I'll have to go back to the GL website to see. Thanks for thinking I look young - you made my day!!!! I was glad to see a few people who looked older so I dont think I was the oldest one there - but there were a few in scrubs so do you think that they get first preference? Prisi - Good Luck with your interview - I am sure you will do fine - Positive thoughts coming your way. Let us know how it went.

JMarie - OMG what did you think? I was surprised how easy the math was but the reading....that was hard! Did you think that some of the answers had more than one correct one? When the proctor said 5 min left - I had 6 blank answers, so I hurried to finish them. What did you think of the essay? I didnt care for that topic at all and mine wasnt all that long either. Where were you sitting in the room? I was up front - maybe 3rd row from the front all the way on the last seat on the left side. During the break I overheard some people talking and one woman was taking it for the second time and another must not have studied at all because she didnt know there would be percentage problems on the math portion. Now we must sit and wait 3-4 weeks!!! I think I am gonna go a bit nuts!!! Let me know what you thought.

Prisi - Thanks for all of the info!!! I am glad the test is on paper rather than the computer. JMaire - Good Luck to you too!!! I am going to do a drive by tonite just to make sure I know where I am going (I know I am too paranoid but I dont want to take any chances). I am tring to just stay calm - I havent studied at all this weekend because I was away so I am freaking a bit. KeKe - Glad there is another 40ish person attending the evening program (I just turned 41 Saturday). I hope I get to see you at orientation because that means I will have been accepted!!! Did you have any previous health care experience? I am just trying to figure out how to "WOW" them if I pass the NET and get the interview since I have no prior experience. I guess I can just be honest about how passionate I am to attend LPN school.

JMarie, I emailed them at GL Tech and she said that we check in at security and then follow the signs to the testing room on the third floor. Keep studying!!!

Prisi - Thanks for the info!!! I plan on getting there very early - even if I have to sit in the parking lot for a while!!! JMarie - Do you have the NET study guide? I think the info that is in there is what is on the test. As far as I know (have read) there in NO geometry or science. Just reading comprehension & math - adding, subtracting, decimals, fractions & percents. Some equations (which I still cant figure out). I took the preactice tests for reading and scored 80 & 75 (you need 65 to pass). And in the first math practice test I got 7 wrong out of 60. I am still reading and going over the book again but I am going away over the weekend so I am paranoid I will forget everything!!!

CONGRATS prisi on passing the NET!!!! I am sure you will do fine on the interview and get accepted into the program. Do you know anything about the program and/or faculty? I was curious regarding the clinicals and how the classes are. I'll let you know when I get my NET results.

prisi -Regarding the NET - were there a lot of algebra questions? I am nervous since I have been out of school for so long. Thanks for your help!

information on greater lowell lpn program
AKUA - thaks for the info - I was assuming the math was 60 questions in 60 min. I still cant get the hang of the algebra but I can do all the other problems. Was there a lot of algebra? What about the essay? I think the reading is hard because you have to pick the answer that they want you to pick not neccesarily the right answer (at least thats what Ive read online). I just think that they dont give you enough time for the reading either. JMarie - I am stressing too - esp since this is the final time to take the exam. I "have" to get in too because I just dont want to wait another year(esp because I am 40!). But when I emailed the secretary, they said there were still spots available so I am thinking as long as we pass the NET, we are in (hopefully)!

NET essay
I am taking the NET in a couple of weeks and it has any essay portion. Can anyone give me examples of what kind of essay question it will be? And is there a choice of questions? Thanks in advance!
