  1. Bravissima! I have been a hospice nurse for many decades-studied with Kubler-Ross. Now I study with Frank Ostaseki of the Metta Instititute. Finally, FINALLY I can be honest with my patients (oops, clients) and meet them where they are in their experience. I can get pretty close through listening and knowing that they are me and I am them. I used to be all bravado and Catholic but felt as though I was convincing myself when I was asked the questions from those who are close to death. Now, I sit, wait, breathe. I summon the buddhas of compassion. I meet the clients-if they are suicidal, I research their suicide technique with them. If they are scared ,we speak of the the fear. We face it head on. I am also a Reiki Master teacher and practitioner and also do the Reconnection. The results are beyond my imagination. I am grateful, humbled, blessed. I walk with gratititude and humor. I am proud of your work, your intense interest in the so-called mystery.Keep going, keep going and be still.

I am applying to teach in a CNA program. I am earning the certificate to train CNA's and LPN's and am going through the process of finding a school that has high respect for themselves and the students. Please keep in touch about your process and conclusion. Best of luck to you, RNnamaste

Good morning! Next week,I am receiving my certificate to teach CNA's and am curious as to which schools you recommend that I apply to teach for? I want comrades who respect the students and are not burned out. I have 30 years of wonderful expereince as an RN and want know the profession. Thank you and all the best to you, RNnamaste
  4. Perfect! I know I got a bit preachy! Have a wonderful day!
  5. Long conversations with Hospice Pharmacia, enabled us to do with with a couple of meds, not many. Plus, most families will not choose to adminster meds via rectum. I rarely advise this, esp if you stimulate the vagus and then they are nauseous. It rarely is effective.
  6. OK, now be careful with that advice of the nurse telling you that "whatever is takes for the patient". She is wrong. You WILL lose your license if you are a rouge creator of different methods. Please understand that I was that way once and then learned to comply within the system. I did VNA homecare hospice for many years and you have to detach your emotion at times so you can think clearly when the family is dire for assistance. With true compassion it means to meet them at their experience, but you were brought in for clarity and service. Yes, maalox on wounds, pineapple juice in peg tubes and olive oil on pills is fine, but the efficacy of meds is very different in the pr route. You must speak to Hospice Pharmacia first. This is gentle advice and my hope is that your service is graced with the beauty I have seen for many years.
  7. Wonderful! Make sure you surround yourself with nurses of the like mind.
  8. We just purchase glycerin supps and have them handy if we need to use them to insert a tablet into. Just let them soften. Olive oil works well too, but of course, it will not mold to a semi-solid state.
  9. "Microbes", "water"? Um, they are dying....
