Hello Everyone! I am finishing my ADN program this coming spring semester. I worked so hard and am hoping to land a job once i pass my NCLEX. It has always been a goal of mine to get my BSN. I am planning to attend an RN-BSN program fall 2012, thus I will be out of school for a year. I keep bumping into people who tell me this is a bad idea because I should go right into getting my BSN after my ADN because I am risking forgetting what I learned in nursing school. My personal being is more important to me and I feel I need this year off. My question is: has anyone been in this position or know anyone who went back for their BSN? Was it hard for you? Thank you for all your input. BTW I am hoping to attend SUNY downstate in NYC for the RN-BSN. Thank you all!:heartbeat

Once you get into the clinical portion of the nursing program; it takes 2 years. This is for ADN.

lol, it was a pre req. for nursing. It was one class general chem and physics combined. They say its purpose was to make you "think". Oh well. Physics saved me in the end i love ittt. hate chem !

A&P 1, Sociology 1, Psy 1, Eng 1 Chem and Physics during summer A&P 2, lifespan psyc, eng 2, and cpr was pretty much my first year I think its better taking one science a semester in order to get those A's :)

Ok, so im entering the clinical phase of nursing school this fall. Last semester i took a two credit class (first aid and personal saftey) in order to receive financial aid and since i would get a cpr certificate. My advisor told me i would need it during NS anyway. Then, when i was speaking to a nursing counselor she told me i need a child-adult aed/cpr ceft. and this class only awarded me an adult only aed/cpr which means i can only have it for a year and then i would have to get a child cert. since i would be working with kids. My school is having a cpr training day where we donate 50 dollars and spend the whole day learning what i already learned to recieve the cpr/bls cert. Is there anyway i can just take the test only in a year and get the certificate without starting from scratch and learning everything again. I know how to do cpr on a child. Thanks for any input.

Hey, I cant wait for my first day of NS, and ive read a couple of really helpful tips on preparing for nursing school. I really agreed with the advice on buying two book bags: one for lectures and one for clinicals. Anyway, i was wondering what do you guys keep in your clinical bags and if you dont mind me asking what kind of bag do you wear. Im not really intrigued by the idea of rolling bookbags because public transportation can be really crowded. Thanks for any input.

When i took A&P 1, i bought the huge package that included everything you mentioned with the lab manual. All those cds and guides and atlas' were useless to me. I only used the textbook and the lab manual throughtout a&p 1 and 2 and got A's in both. So if i could go back i woulve got them both seperatley used. Good Luck in A&P !!!

I personally feel it depends on the time you have to dedicate yourself. I always kept my sciences apart so i could get A's in them but also since i worked. For me to take microbiology i needed to finish anatomy and physiology 1 and 2, so make sure you can even take them at the same time. Other than that its a lot of memorization and you need time. HEY ! I was just looking at Downstates requirements for the rn - bsn program. It says you need 12 credits in Humanities/Social Sciences? Would French, a psychology course, anthropology course, and an art course fit in that category? Thanks.

I spoke to an advisor a couple of months ago. She told me that they are waiting for grades to be posted and we will get letters mid June - beg. of July. I'm dieing already =O

wat did you guys get? i got a 123 composite score and i worked my ass off for a 4.0 if i dont get in i will be completely devastated

oh wow thanks. i got scared there for a second. I was really sick during the test and i kept taking cough drops so i wouldnt annoy anyone LOL. Hopefully my gpa will save my ok score. I realllly want to get in !

dextera is a 124 composite score bad, becuase i got a 123 ? =/

oh thats a great score. congratulations. uh im not sure how many people but i do know that letters get sent out after our grades are posted for spring 09' so we will get them end of june beginning of july

Hello, i just got my nln score today in the mail. I got a composite score of 123 and my gpa is 4.0. Do you guys think im in good running? i go to kingsborough community college. I was just wondering what other people got and if they got accepted or not. Thank you.

HELLO everyone ! Im new to this website and really excited to get some input. Im a kingsborough pre nursing student and takin "the test" this saturday. I have studied alot but im freaking out too much. My heart is always beating everytime i hear nln and im just really nervous becuase they dont let you retake it anymore. its either your in or your not:down: I have a 4.0 gpa but i fear that my anxieties will eat me alive. Please help what can i do to calm myself down? THANKS !
