anyone take the course through American Red Cross?
I just finished this week. I am waiting to get a test date through the state. There is a lot of work out there right now for CNA's. I would love to work in a hospital but think they want some experience first although I have read on here some get hired in hospitals right away. I will apply to both. I don't want to start applying until I have my certificate in hand but was told you can hired as long as they know you finished a CNA program and have a test date. I am in MA to.

Absolutely! My adviser told me it looks really good if your a CNA when you apply to the Nursing Program. The programs through the Red Cross only take 3 weeks in MA. I just finished my CNA and I am working on my prereqs which will take me a year so in the meantime I am going to work as a CNA.

White scrubs and shoes for clinicals. I did the 3 week day. The course load wasn't to bad. Just reading 2-3 chapters a night but it really wasn't bad. I loved it! Which site are you going to?

Red Cross CNA program??
I am so surprised to hear the comments about the instructors at Fall River Red Cross. I am taking my CNA there and they to me are extremely qualified. They have years of experience as Nurses. I think they give you patients that require more assistance so that you will be challenged. I think the program there is awesome.

CNA Training.....Any Suggestions??
Hi. I am in my second week at the Red Cross CNA program. I can not say enough good things about it. I have learned so much and the instructors are awesome. One is an RN and the other an LPN and they are very knowledgeable. I would absolutely go through the Red Cross. I am sure they offer it in your area.

MA CNA Salary
Thanks! I would love to work in the hospital! Do you have to have experience in LTC first? I have several friends that are Nurses and they said LTC pays more than hospitals.

MA CNA Salary
I don't know any one working as a CNA. I did talk to a woman from a home health agency and she said her CNA's make from 12-18. I know I would be on the lower end but don't want to short change myself if they ask what I am looking for. I am not going to be working for a home health agency, I decided to go w/LTC and don't know if the pay would be different. Would I be crazy to ask for 15 so that maybe I will get 14?

Should I start off as CNA or Medical Assitant.. need advice!
I am doing exactly the same and was told by my advisor at school to go for CNA. You will learn so much from the nurses you work for and from the patients you take care of and by the time you do go to school for you RN you will be very prepared for clinicals.

Yikes, now I am second guessing paying for this course! Were you a nervous wreck when you first started your new job and having to learn as you go along? Do you work in LTC or in a Hospital setting?
