  1. Bump Anyone know the rules for NPs first assisting in NY state? Thanks
  2. Any nps in a hospital setting have trouble with nursing administration ( non nps) trying to be the "boss" dispute having an immediate supervisor who is an MD?
  3. I took AANP on the 19th and my cert number was on the website the next day. My packet I received in the mail with my letter and certificate was post-dated the 21st. Maybe I just got lucky?
  4. I took the AANP because I heard it was more clinical based and less theory. I don't know if this is really true, but that, along with the lower cost made my decision for me. Like many have said, Fitzgerald review is the way to go, in my opinion. I listened to her CDs and workbook and read one of her review books front to back and passed. That's pretty much the only reviewing I did. Good luck. ( I am an FNP, by the way--- don't know which program you are in.)
  5. Anyone have any info on relocation stipends for the NYC area?
  6. what part of the country, if you don't mind me asking? and are you an NP or CRNA? Thanks for your response!
  7. If you dont' mind me asking, what type of practice do you work in?
  8. Thanks for the replies... It's good to know that it is a reasonable request to make.
  9. Hi all, Has anyone received a relocation bonus or stipend for moving expenses or the like? If so, how much? If so, did you negotiate that into your contract? Are you in an office/clinic setting vs a medical center/hospital setting? Thanks!
  10. Out of curiosity, which state is your minute clinic in?
  11. NY lady, Thanks for sharing that info. I didn't realize that union hospitals still did pension plans. Is that for all new hire nurses too? Do NPs get represented by the unions? Do the unions represent other staff (ie rad techs, pharmacists, etc)? Thanks so much!
  12. I've been reading a lot about "fluff" courses from FNP students... I am curious what schools these are (I'm not asking you all to list your schools, I am just wondering out loud). I am in my last semester of my Master's FNP program. I haven't had any 'fluff" classes. I have had research and statistics classes, but I don't really consider that fluff. I've had one class that maybe some of you might consider fluff- it's a 3 credit course of issues of advanced nursing-- we discuss coding, billing, the certification exams, resumes, contracts, ect... all of which I hardly would consider fluff, and all very applicable to the FNP role. My RN to BSN degree was a lot of fluff. My masters degree is certainly not perfect, but I have overall been very happy with it. We also have skill workshops including suturing, simple ENT procedures, EKG, ect, that I hear a lot of programs do not cover.
  13. ah ha... that makes sense. I think the hospitals I was looking at are Magnet. Something to consider. Thanks!!
  14. I've seen a couple of job postings that say "ANCC preferred". I was leaning towards AANP, but now I'm reconsidering. Will be interested in seeing what others have to say about this.
  15. Does anyone know what the hiring situation is for radiology techs at mt sinai, or other NYC hosptials? Thanks!
