minute clinic
Thank you all for your feedback. I found it helpful. I constantly feel stuck between my career and being a mom but you all we right...they are only young once. That is the beauty of our profession..there are opportunities no matter what you're looking for

minute clinic
I need some feedback. I have been offered a position with a Minute Clinic. I have read some of the older posts on Minute Clinics, but nothing really recent. I know the down sides, ie - limited autonomy, etc.. but is it terrible that I consider this position b/c of the schedule and money? I have 3 small kids and need to work full time for financial reasons but am burdened with guilt working 5 days a week. I guess my question is would taking this type of position hurt me in the long run? My plan is to do it for a few years until all of my children are in school. p.s. - I have one yr of NP experience. Thanks in advance.

NP employed as nurse educators?
The position is for an advanced practice nurse. I think that primarily it's a CNS role. In regards to re-cert hours - I think you are right.

Student loan forgiveness (NHSC)
I just started looking into this - I have $42,000 in undergrad and grad loans and this would be huge - but the only position on the webiste that is near me has a score of 6. I wonder if I'm even close to being able to obtain any payout. When I search the whole state, the highest score is a 7! I only work part time now so I would have to take a full time position and travel to this other position. It'll be a big change for me if I weren't able to obtain the award, but a HUGE help if I could. It would save me $500/month which I could REALLY use

leaving job
Thanks - you're right. I am still working on the side as an RN b/c I can't make ends meet. This new position I'm entertaining is a full time position. It has not been formally offered to me, but I would never quit my job before I had another one lined up.

leaving job
Has anyone ever left their job as an NP after only a few months? I took my first NP job in May and it's not a good fit for me. I went into a specialty and hate it. I took it quickly (in order to have a job) and am not compensated very well. The schedule is great though - I do have to admit, but Im not sure that is enough. I have been casually looking online at positions but I don't feel right leaving after only 5-6 months. Anyone else ever face this dilemma - and if so - what did you do?

NP Salary vs. RN salary
I have to agree with most of the postings. I just finished my NP prgram and took a position making about the same hourly rate as I make as a RN, which was a per-diem so my RN salary in non-benefited. I work 3 days a week 8-5. No weekends, holidays, or on call and it's 100% worth it. As an RN, I worked in a busy ER and was completely burnt out. GOing back to school was the best decision I ever made.

Average length of time to hear from AANP
What is the average length of time to receive your approval to test letter? I did receive a letter for additional information approximately 2 weeks ago, which was one month after sending in my application. They haven't even charged my credit card yet, so Im a little worried this is going to take a long time. Any insight?
