  1. I can relate to this. How is everybody else doing?
  2. Hello, I interviewed at Gtown and loved the program. The students i met were very happy with the school too. Maryland has a great program but the drive might be an issue due to traffic unpredictability. My friend went to UMB, commuted for a semester but then had to move closer to campus. Tough--------, pick what is going to make your life as a student simpler.
  3. Have couple of places of interest. However, still have some loose ends to take care of before the actual application. Hope all went well with the interview. Good luck. Are you able to send a pm?. Suen
  4. Shix, I noted the flag next to your name. Interesting. I was interested in this program but didn't apply, maybe next year. let me know it goes. Suen
  5. Hi Shix1980, I sent you a pm. Thanks
  6. mirgadia05, hey, where are you, "cat got your tongue?" we are nurses and pround of all aspects of our job. save your money and invest wisely. you gonna make one miserable nurse, no matter the type of nursing. nursing is not for all, and you don't sound like one of us. sorry.
  7. I didnt make it in. Congrates to all of you and wish you all the very best of luck. Rocco, i am so happy for you. We kept each other company through the process. Good luck. Your stats are great, i know you will be ok through the program. Suen
  8. To Rocco and all of you, Hit the road, enjoy this weekend:dancgrp:. I hope to do this some day. Suen
  9. best of wishes. Suen
  10. Welcome Carisa, Its nice to hear from you. My interview lasted 30 min plus the tour!!! I guess this is norm. Now that the interviews are almost over, i hope more pple will participate, just for fun. At this point, we are well winners, whether you get in or not. I am over replaying the interview tape in my mind. Now i am at the point of, bring it on!! Am ready. One way or the other, the day is coming to wear one of this faces:beer:or:chair:. Its out of our hands. SUEN
  11. hi Rocco78, Did u happen to meet other students during the interview. I hope more pple would join the discussion, makes the life bearable. By the way, my birthday is on june 28th. I wonder what kind of a party to plan, cheers or leave me alone. But facts are facts, some of us will be let loose. Did u ever ask about the waiting list? Do the pple on the list autimatically get in the following year? I think i heard something like this. Suen
  12. I totally have a different feel. I thought my interview was rather short, questioning whether i aswered all their questions right. The more i think about it, the more am convinced i boomed the interview. Am sitting at the fence here wondering ummmm, did i blow away a lifetime oppurturnity? What did they say about notification? I wonder whether pple are still interviewing or hopefully we all interviewed. When do we here from them? Its just crazy.
  13. Hi Rocco78, Its my hope you are still hanging in there after the interviews. It would be nice to hear from you. Are you able to pm as yet? How did you like mn asnd especially the campus area. Are you originally from mn? You might be familiar with the street names then. I wish you all the best during this agonizing period.Suen
  14. Hope all went well during the interview. I am dying to share the experience. You gotta make enough postings to pm. Otherwise it would be nice to hear from you. SUEN
  15. This is not always the case. However in our hospital, it happens only if you have a pool contract with the hospital. This means you will work as a pools nurse for pool rate, but you can get pulled to other units as specified by the contract. SUEN
  16. Hi, they said acceptance letters will be mailed out two weeks after the last interview i.e june 10th. So we will find out around the 25th to the end of the month. The interview lasts about 30 min, and you have the option of taking the school tour. the sch is in the same building as the administrative office, so the tour is fast. Good luck on monday. SUEN
  17. No. Just wanted per diem. Suem
  18. I would not discount this rates, although they are not reg. rates. Takes into consideration that hospitals could have some bonuses for a certain period, then factor in weekend rates. I have seen such figures when we had nursing shortage. Its still cheaper for the hospital. Suen
  19. Hi Rocco, had my interview on the 20th and nerve wrecking as expected. The wait is even worse. I would suggest cover all areas and relax. I think they have 78 to interview for 32 seats. The stakes are high:eek:. PM me. Thanks
  20. Hi there, i am in phila and was looking for supplemental job. Are these rates for travel assignment or per diem? Which company do you work with? Thanks.
  21. This has never happened in our unit because pt are rarely discharged from our unit. I know it happened to a friend of mine, and they had to send security and a nurse to d/c the iv. I guess the bottom line is to document, take care of the problem and try to reduce such incidences. I doubt it would fall on your licence since the pt was instructed to wait. Remember this would be your word against his. So document.
  22. Hi Rocco, Nice to hear from you. Am sweating bullets :sstrs:coz i dont know what to expect during the interview. To PM someone, you have to post 15 messages to the general board. After this you can go to your account and PM whoever. I will keep you posted. SUEN
  23. There is TRENDS in critical care nursing. My workmate's recommended them. I think they have classes around the country. Some hospitals will pay for the class. Good luck
  24. As a student nurse, they dont expect you to be an expert. Your knowledge is limited to clinical hours, meaning you are not at a level to work independently. The hospital is going to orient you to their unit plus their practices. Be comfortable with the med -surg aspect, what they are looking for at this point is someone who can learn and adapt to their unit. Goood luck.
  25. Does this mean $40,000 per student per year? better deal than one discribed above.
