  1. Thank your all for your replies, I feel better after hearing all this advice. I hope it never happens again & I am going to take more precautions in the future.
  2. Just curious how others nurses have dealt with the following situation: A patient that leaves a hospital or an outpatient facility with IV access intact. I have worked in the ER & when this happens we call the police to find the patient. It happened last week while I was working in an outpatient facility. The patient was given specific instructions not to leave but left the building for over 30 minutes. Is this a risk to my license? Is it illegal?
  3. Experienced & new grad RT's are having a hard time finding positions. Too many are graduating & the field is become flooded with qualified candidates for each position. You will have an easier time obtaining employment as a nurse. Think about how many nurses are working during an average hospital shift vs how many RT's are working during that same shift. Just a thought.....
  4. Thank you all who have responed so far....I work for an outpatient radiology practice. We perform CT, X-ray, Nuc Med, Ultrasound, Mammo's. Again any guidance will help.
  5. I work in an outpatient facility & they have stated that they "do not honor any advance directives". They have created this policy in order to avoid having to ask all patients about advance directives. Is this legal? I'm having a hard time getting solid information about what is the correct way to deal with this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  6. I was a new grad in an ER on the 11a-11p shift. I had several problems with that shift. First, I was not part of day shift or night shift, so I felt like an outsider. Second, I had twice as many personalities to get used to. Third, I hated having my room assignment changed mid-shift, it caused too much confusion for a new grad. I changed to 7a-7p and I was much happier. Hope that helps.
  7. Passed boards June 07, started working Aug 07 in the ER. 8 months and I still feel new.........
