Frustrated with new job
Make a chart for each resident and post by their bedroom doors..be specific on times for bed checks, restroom, showers, linen wash, meds administered, etc. Have the CNAs sign in ink when the task is accomplished. Then "pop" in during those times...if they are not assisting another resident at those times they are suppose to be with Jane Doe and watching tv instead, write them up. As for gossip: call a staff meeting and specifically spell out the rules. Make them sign a document after the meeting stating they have been informed of these rules and put in their employee file. Gossip will NOT be tollerated, there is no blame game here anymore...this is a team. If you cannot find something positive to say to a residents family member, find something to busy yourself with and direct them to contact me. Remind them that it is the residents that make their paychecks. Should you start to lose residents, there will be no need for some of the staff.

Stressed, brand new CNA. Am I going to make it? :(
You need to remind yourself... the only stupid question is an unasked question. Things will all start to fall into place soon enough for you! Keep the faith. I have had receptionists at the docs office be in tears, stating they just couldnt keep up the pace. I would continue to give them the weekly/ sometimes daily pep talks: Do not worry about the other coworkers. Sometimes everyone forgets that they were indead new to the field at one point in their lives. One day it will all click and fall into place. So you spent an extra 5-10 min with the patient... you got the task accomplished, and that person had an extra few minutes of being able to talk to someone other than the wall.

CAN I GET FIRED???
I am not sure what dept you work in, but you do need to let them know. Concealing that type of injury not only puts yourself at risk for further complications, but also your patient (transfers.. etc). Most facilities do understand injuries will happen.

SNOTTY MA claiming to be a nurse!!!!
WOW!! I have to post again. I was an office manager for several years and YES I did write out scripts, and YES I did call them in for the pts to the pharmacy. That is NOT an uncommon practice. When I worked on the floor at the hospital, I would call down to the pharmacy to have the meds delivered to the floor per the docs orders. No questions were ever asked. Being asthmatic and spending alot of time in the ER the scripts I recieve now are typed and signed by the doc. I highly doubt the doc sits down at the computer and types each and every script out for me.

SNOTTY MA claiming to be a nurse!!!!
Unfortunately it is the mentality of some of the MAs~that they indeed are side by side with LPNs. Recently layed off, I am now on the wait list for nursing school, but am taking the MA course while I wait to brush up in med field (havent worked in it for 7 years). A majority of fellow students in my classes think like that rude MA. I get in heated discussions with them stating: if that were the case you would be taking more medical classes instead of office classes, etc...etc...
