  1. GrnTea I would rather have a diva nurse all blinged up take care of me over a nurse with a holier than thou attitude like yours. You're ridiculous. Courses4evr, the fact that you have a family that took the time and thought into attaching meaningful charms on your stethoscope gift says a lot about them and you. If you're allowed to use it you should.
  2. Thank you Macenroe! It's so wonderful to hear your story. I could never work both jobs; CNA and teach. I'm retiring from teaching and I'm ready to work at a Catholic hospital which is something I've always wanted to do. It's not about the money, a CNA 's pay wouldn't even come close to what I make teaching now that I'm at the top of the pay scale, but it's what I want to do. Your post was encouraging and thank you! I'm going to start volunteering soon hopefully that will get my foot in the door and see where it goes from there. God bless you and all the good work you do. 💛💙💜💚
  3. I have loved my 30 years of teaching even with all its difficulties, but I have always wanted to care for people in a hospital setting. 14 years ago I went back to school for my Masters when I probably should have gone for nursing. Being a CNA will give me the opportunity to do what I've always wanted to do it's just that there are so many CNA's on these boards that hate their job it made me wonder if anyone actually finds the job fulfilling. Thank you for your response.
  4. You are amazing! Thank you.
  5. Outside of nursing students, is there anyone who actually likes their CNA job? I'm thinking about getting certified. I've been a teacher for 30 years but have always wanted to do patient care in a hospital setting. If you like your job tell me in what department you work and what you do. Thanks!
  6. Posted today on MSNBC.com
  7. I think it's a shame that instructors don't do their job and make new tests as often as they give them. If old tests are being posted somewhere the remedy for that is to make new ones. Yes it's work but that's their job. No student should be penalized for using every study resource that's available. The OP did nothing wrong.
  8. I'm not a nurse sorry. My daughter was considering being a traveling nurse. I just wondered what your package included.
  9. Can you tell me about your relocation package? Thanks.
  10. I will say this to the OP if you want to be a nurse be a nurse don't be a PT because the educational plan works better for you. I'm living proof of that same decision gone bad. In 1972 I wanted to be a nurse but it was easier to get into physical therapy. I did my pre requisites and got accepted into PT one semester into the program I hated it. I settled because it was easier. I dropped out of PT and finished college with enough science credits to be a HS biology teacher and that's what I did. If I had it to do all over again....well here I am on allnurses so you know what I would have done:-)
  11. Really !! That's amazing. Can I ask you what university these 60 year olds are attending?
  12. You're my hero! That would be a dream to be a nurse but I just don't have it in me to go to school for four more years. What are your long term goals I'd love to hear about your plans.
  13. I'm 60, have been a teacher for 30 years and have my Master's degree and am getting my CNA this summer so when I retire I can work at Bon Secours. Retire in two years.
  14. If you're a Patient Tech or CNA in a hospital setting what are some of your responsibilities? Thanks
  15. I've been a teacher for 30 years; have my Master's Degree but have always wanted to work in a hospital setting with patients so I'm thinking about getting my CNA. Is it possible to get hired as a CNA in a hospital without any experience other than the clinical experience in the CNA course?
  16. You got this! Let us know when you get the good pop-up!
  17. Thank you so much. Yes you're right I've been reading these posts for the last 4 years. It's been interesting and enlightening to get a glimpse into the life of a student nurse. My daughter was accepted into a BSN program right out of high school so her experience was quite different than most folks on here. I always found it so exciting to read the acceptance posts from students that anxiously await the email, phone call, or letter. I have always thought nursing to be the highest of callings. The opportunity to care for someone as well as comfort the family is a special ministry. So to you and all nurses I congratulate on choosing a selfless profession. I may continue to check into Allnurses on occasion but if not this site has certainly been beneficial, heartwarming, informative, and insightful for the last 4 years. God bless, Cathy
  18. My daughter ( she's not on Allnurses) passed the NCLEX today at 80 questions! I've been reading these boards now for four years as she went through the BSN program and then after she graduated in May I started reading this thread giving her helpful tips as I found them. She's starts her new job at a wonderful hospital on Monday . Praise The Lord! How many questions was your passing number? This is probably the last post I'll read. Thank you Allnurses ! Cathy
  19. Honestly I think that's a crock! If you graduated you should be eligible to take the test at your convenience not theirs. If you don't pass then you're on your own to get the necessary review to pass.
