  1. I would like to know the answer to this question also- as some schools only say "a critical care setting" on the requirement list. Does this exclude NICU, PICU, or PACU? Does it have to be only an adult care setting? I hope someone answers your question!
  2. yes, I have an iphone 4 and it worked. You can download them on itunes or on the device.
  3. I love that they did this, I think I downloaded like 20 for free.
  4. CuriousMe- yeah, I understand. That is a nice feature. Im trying to bring as little stuff to class with me as possible. When I discovered our Med-Surg book this semester weighs probably 20lbs I started looking into buying it online- and it was $50 something cheaper- And I can read it on my mac, iphone, or ipad with or without internet. I do understand the not being able to write on it factor- this doesn't really bother me as I usually type everything up anyway but- to each is own :)
  5. LunahRN- I live in FL so it may be different. Also- I'm sure the perspective from a nurse and an attorney is different, it many be the policy to go ahead and draw the blood, but it may become unusable evidence later. Let me know what you find as I'm interested in what other hospitals policies are on this issue now.
  6. CuriousMe- did you try downloading the app called coursesmart? It is the best one for downloading textbooks that I have found, good prices and they have a highlight feature, and a feature where you can add sticky notes. Then if you want you can print out the page you added a lot of notes too or highlighted. Its great!!
  7. I used to bring the largest vera bradley tote they made, and had it loaded down with tons of stuff! My chiropractor said that I need to stop carrying such heavy bags or I'll be walking like an 80 year old in a few years with how bad my back is now. I would look for a good backpack with good cushion on the straps if you plan on carrying heavy nursing books. This semester I bought all my books on an app on my Ipad, best invention ever!! (and a LOT cheaper)
  8. My dad is an attorney and I read the OP's question aloud to him. He said that an informed consent is not valid if the patient is intoxicated. If the patient does in fact sign the consent, it becomes invalid once the blood is drawn and the blood indicates a blood alcohol level above legal limits. He also said that the blood drawn when the patient signed the consent drunk cannot be used against the client in court. When the patient is no longer intoxicated the consent can be re-presented to the patient. Hope this helps :) :redpinkhe
  9. I'm a nursing student entering my senior year and a few semesters ago I was taking care of a younger male patient who always had a lot of male visitors around the same age. At some point during the day I knock on the door and enter, look to the left towards the bathroom and see one of the male friends standing up urinating in the toilet with the door open. Like really? The sign on the door says for patient use only... And with the door open? This isn't your house!!
  10. I took A&P 2 and micro in the same semester and it was not bad for me. A&P is one of my favorites so it was easy for me to do well in that class but I had to put a lot more time into Micro. But it can definitely be done especially with the time you have to study.
  11. QTbabynurse: they did not lose their accredidation but were on the verge because of lack of students passing the NCLEX. The admissions director of the nursing program explained to me that the reason they feel this was happening was because they accepted to many students. They are now accepting 50 in the fall and 40 in the spring where before they accepted 90 in the fall and none in spring.
  12. I applied to nova's fort myers campus also and got the same congratulations during my interview. I talked to the admissions lady Renee last week and she said we should be expecting the admissions packet in the mail soon. I'm nervous to because I have no proof that I got in and we haven't registered for classes yet. When I told her this she said not to worry and that in the computer I am already in there as a student and they are just waiting for the fort lauderdale campus to send out the letters.
  13. nola-b18: I have also applied to the Fort Myers campus and so has one of my friends! We are both also at FGCU and we do not like it..
