sometimes I just don't know what I want to be when I grow up!
I have been fighting with myself for years now on this subject..."what do I want to be when I grow up?" ( I am now 36!) I am taking pre-reqs to get into the nursing program, I have always loved medicine and find it facinating...what I don't like is all the politics that nursing brings along with it..it can be extremely frustrating and you can burn out so quickly trying to please everyone! It's not just about caring for patients anymore, it is so much more, maybe if they went back to the basics a little bit, people would be happier... I know there is a huge nursing shortage, so job security is not an issue...nurses don't get the wages they use to and work alot of overtime... I have only done medical care in a dr. office, which is crazy! I am curious what it is like in hospital setting?... it still facinates me and I love to learn and research...I am just so afraid of making the wrong decision after all this schooling...it took me along time to go back, I don't want to screw it up! The other career I have always been interested in is accounting...(talk about the other end of the spectrum hah???) I have always loved numbers and love love love math! I love doing budgets and would love to learn financial planning...I worked in a/r and a/p for many years and liked it...again, the corporate setting sucks! . I know there is a lot of areas I could go into with my nursing degree so maybe there is more room for adventure there.. I don't feel settled, I don't know if I ever will. I always envy those people who know what they wanted to when they grew up....I just happened to be a jack of all trades and just can't seem to make a decision... Thanks for letting me vent...

Whooping cough cases piling up in Colorado
this is scary! http://9news.com/acm_news.aspx?OSGNAME=KUSA&IKOBJECTID=dc278fcb-0abe-421a-01d0-dc31fa85e2b2&TEMPLATEID=0c76dce6-ac1f-02d8-0047-c589c01ca7bf FORT COLLINS (AP) - Larimer County health officials fighting an outbreak of whooping cough say all nine of the county's recent confirmed patients had their pertussis shots as toddlers. They got sick as teenagers. The vaccine for pertussis, or whooping cough, is recommended for children before they start first grade, but the vaccine doesn't protect into adolescence and adulthood. "Many vaccines, like measles, tetorifice and pertussis, are safe and effective, but that immunity wears off," said Dr. James Todd, chief epidemiologist at Children's Hospital in Denver. The older version of the pertussis vaccine was known to cause severe reactions in older children and adults, Todd said. But the current vaccine may be safe for older children and adults. Dr. Ned Calonge, the state's chief medical officer, said the vaccine is approved for use in older children and adults in Canada. "The reason you want to prevent pertussis in middle and high school kids is to keep them from bringing it home to younger siblings, where the disease is much more serious," Calonge said. Pertussis can cause pneumonia, seizures and occasionally death. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1.3 percent of babies under a month old who get whooping cough die of it. As of Monday, 126 people in Colorado had gotten sick with whooping cough, the state health department said. Forty of them were between the ages of 10 and 20 rather than the very young, according to the department. Only Massachusetts, with 438, and New York, with 388, had more total cases as of early April, according to the most recent figures from the CDC. Todd said it's "a fair assumption" of a connection between the disease's outbreaks in Colorado and the state's "woefully inadequate" pertussis immunization record. Colorado lags behind all other 49 states in getting children vaccinated, according to CDC figures. Some parents object to vaccines for various reasons, but health officials blame Colorado's poor vaccination rate on reasons such as a lack of state funding to provide shots for poor and uninsured children.

Marriage Is over
does he know how you feel? how is your relationship outside of you feeling this way..I agree, counceling would be a good idea. I was watching Dr. Phil last week and he said he was talking to a lady who was married over 50 yrs., he asked her what her secret was....she responded, "we both fell out of love at different times"...so basically, sounds like this is normal, but with work, (if you BOTH are willing) you may be ok... I would be sure to exhaust all your options so you feel you did what you had to do to make this decision right, whatever that may be...good luck!

Would you assist in abortions?
Yes I would...although I don't agree with some of the choices people make, it's not mine to make...I am greatful we have choices....not everyone that has to make a decision to get an abortion was just having wild sex...there are alot of horrible cases of kids being molested and raped that need this to stay a choice.

PLEASE HELP me with picking a new insurance plan
I agree, there isn't much info that can be given with just the names of the insurance. I am sure they all offer something different. co-pays deductibles referrals required? out of network coverage? some plans cover things you may need that others don't, (ie: maternal care, infertility care, RX coverae, home health coverage... etc.) some have large hosp copays, some don't... I am sure each plan has a different monthly premium and drug coverage plan. I am on an HMO with an out of network option and as long as you stay innet. and see your PCP you don't have to get the insurance companies approval when you are referred by the PCP, it just has to be documented by the PCP and their office can call the ins. and they just make a note of it... good luck
