  1. Thank you to nursemargo and Suzanne for getting back to me so quickly. nurseMargo - No not as yet I don't have my RN license. ( I started nursing course but had to leave as my husband became very sick. He is fine now and I am ready to start back at school ) I want to go to NY state and live in and around the Brooklyn area. No I have not yet completed the visa screen. I know I have to have license before then, but i just want to know the steps I have to take when I am ready. xoxox Suzanne- can you recommend any UNI's in Australia that have clinical and theory experence in the obove subjects that you have just listed. I have looked into that myself, but you might know of a specific one. Once I have got my license, what do I do then. Who do I contact first, What is a BON? You guys are great!!!! Im so glad I have such helpfull people to talk to Cheers- nurse 07
  2. Hi guys, Well I did look at the treads at the top of the page and It did answer alot of my questions about things like CVS, CES, CGFNS and so forth. Im still not totally sure about what i need to do and most importantly who to contact first to get the process up and running! I know I must sound stupid (what else is new!) but if someone could just let me know how to get the ball rolling that would be good. Once again you guys are really helpful and thank you to you all for such good advice.:blushkiss Take care n07x
  3. Hi guys, I am wanting to move to Amercia, and I just wanted to know if someone could explain everything I need to do and what all the abbreviations stand for. Everytime I read something on another tread I get lost because I can't understand what you guys are talking about ( sorry if It sounds stupid!) I get lost with all the CNFSDCDGTDDN. I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I am just starting out in this process and already getting lost:uhoh21: Anyway i would appreciate any help you can offer Take care Nur07
  4. hI nyaussie, I sent you my email address. I hope you got it. Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I put it in your PM page. Cheers :bowingpur  nurse07
  5. Hi nyassie, how did you end up living in nyc? Im looking into all the information at the moment and it seems really hard to get a green card to work in America. Maybe you could give me some tips on how you went about the process. How is your training going? I found the training that I had really enjoyable and challenging at the same time. Do you miss Australia? Im living in Sydney at the moment. I'd love to know how you ended up in New York and what made you go and live in America in the first place. I think I should have been born American. My uncles have all lived over there at some point in time and loved it. I think it's in my blood. Anyway thank you for your help and I will look up those web sites and continue my search for the answers I need. Take care
  6. Hi guys, Just interested to know if any of you work with nurses from Australia? I am an Australian wanting to work in America and I was wondering if there are any other Aussies around who work with you and what you thought of their nursing skills. Also I am looking at moving to around the Brooklyn area, as I have friends who live there, and wondering what sort of pay check you take home at the end of the month for a qualified RN. If anyone can help me out in the employment seeking department that would be great as well. Are nursing jobs advertised in the weekly news papers or some other method of advertising. Would it be possible to get a job quite quickly or do you guys think it would take a little while. Wish me luck and thank you in advance:nuke:
  7. Here is my story. Im 27 years old and I recently had to finish studing the endorsed enrolled nurse diploma in Brisbane and return home to NSW. I had to do this because my husband became really sick (chronic kidney failure) and he needed my support. Now I am to scared to go back to Nursing as I am scared that I will fail again and not finish the course. I can't return to Brisbane as I need to stay in Sydney (Because of my family) so I need to look at what sydney has to offer. I have tried to get into the Enrolled nurse training program, but did not get in. I am really scared! I thought I wanted this more than anything but I am becoming more and more ready to give up. I don't want to, but I feel I have no choice. I can't get into Uni as I don't have a UAI, so that's out. Maybe Im not meant to do the job. I truly wanted to help people and make a difference in someones life but it's wearing me down. I also need to get out there and start making some money. If anyone has any advice for me, it would really be helpful. If there are any training enrolled nurses out there, let me know how you got into your program! I must be doing something wrong.
  8. Husband, A typical male response! Unlike you I am not perfect and I think 85 percent of people know how I feel as they too have been there at some stage or another. Please dont bother to respond as I am really not interested in any more rude comments. I was simply blowing off steam, letting some anger out and that is all. I found not only your response but others rude and affensive. I can only ask that the people who lent their kind words of support and well wishes to continue to do so as I dont have alot of people around me who I CAN talk to especially about his subject. So thank you to the few who wished me well and I will keep you up to date as what I decide to do. If you find this rude (husband and others) or affensive its your fault........... L.
  9. To respond to your tread, you don't know me and you dont know the situation.Maybe if you did you wouldnt have been so rude. The message might have sounded harsh but you don't know my husband or me so please dont judge me by a person who was blowing off steam. Are you marriage? Do you have any experence on the matter I wonder.........................
  10. Ok firstly I wish to address some issues. I said that my husband is boring. He is boring if you knew him you would say the same. Im not saying that he isn't a nice and caring guy, but he is boring. Our life is boring and I have gone from being an outgoing, fun loving person to yes, a boring person myself. Secondly we dont have sex at all ( im 26 ). I just dont desire to have sex with him. I feel like something is wrong with me, but I just couldn't be bothered any more. It has never been a mind blowing experence if you get my drift. :imbar Thirdly I was at his sisters place the other day and she bought out the family photo album. There was a total of one photo of me in that whole album. :angryfire Im very much loved by all (NOT). And once again he just sits there like a stunned mullet and dosent say a word. This has happened quite alot with him and I as he dosent like causing trouble. I cant see how sticking up for your wife is causing trouble. :angryfire Im not saying that he isnt a good father, or a good provider but surely I count to. I have gave up a hell off a lot for him I cant help but feel like now its my turn.I do care about him but at the moment I just cant deal with all the **** that goes along with him. The stupid little things that he does, the contants mistakes that he makes which I have to correct, all on a daily basis. I feel like an absolute ***** but I just cant take it anymore. Regards Lacie
  11. Well thank you all for your helpfull advice. Its hard to know what to do and what steps to take. I feel sometimes you are forced to look at your lives and deal with any trouble there might be in them. I think this is the problem with out marriage. I really think from the start that we had major problems and that we really shouldn't of stayed together in the first place. But you just fall into a comfort zone and the weeks and months go by and then one day something happens and you have to take stock of everything.' I have tryed to spice things up abit, I suggested many things to try and save our marriage like dates, movies time alone from our son, but it never happens and im sick of trying .Yes he does Know how I feel but i dont think he wants to know. He dosent think we have any problems. All we have in common is our son and you cant base a marriage on that. I know Im answering my own question but It is still really hard to say YES im going!!! It is really scary, but im a strong person with a good family and i know that they will support me. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. regards Lacie
  12. Hi guys I need some advice. When do you know your marriage is over? Ive been with my husband for 6 years and I just feel that there is nothing left. I feel that we have grown in different directions and no longer have much in common but our son. My life is changing and i feel that there has to be a change as well in all aspects of my life. Who else has had these feelings, and what is your advice. It is also difficult because we have a son and I dont want to let him down any advice would be great Thanks Lace
  13. Hi emmy, Im like u I was never good at maths either . A nurse who I have been asking for advice and such put me onto a really good and informative book called - Nursing Calculations by JD Gatford and N Phillips. Its really helpfull and has heaps of information along with exercises u can do at home. It might be worth a look at. Also some body else said practise your times tables.HELLO :imbar WHAT WAS I DOING WHEN I WAS AT SCHOOL! As my mother said I went only to socialise :rotfl: Its amazing what u forget. You can get this book for any major book store. I got mine from Angus & Robertson ( Sydney ). Lacie
  14. Hi everyone, Just wanted to know was there any enrolled nurses out their still or about to start there training.( The one year training program where you work and also go to tafe for a number of weeks ). Im going to apply for the next intake this coming March and I would like some advice.eg - How tough is it to get in, what is the exam like that you have to do, what sort of questions do they ask you. You get the idea! Im soooooooooo desperate to get in. I want this more than anything so any help would be greatly appreciated Im doing volunteer work in a nursing home and Im trying to get work as an assistant nurse as well. Im 26 and Im hoping my age works for me and not aganist me. I really want this and im trying to do everything in my power to make it happen. so any help would be great and appreciated :balloons: Lacie xo
  15. Hi rachel I agree with u - Life is waht u make it . And u know what, I cant wait to be an RN. I truly think that the girls and guys that go to work each day and take care of people deserve a medel. Nothing would make me prouder to say "Yeah, Im a nurse " and my time will come. It just seems sometimes that there is alot of people who are just so unhappy (they might have had a bad day). I understand that in every profession there are problems ( Im an ex hairdresser and beleave me, there are problems there ) but you go and u keep going. Why ? for those people who u might have affected in some small way. Thats why I want to be a nurse:nurse: Anyway enough soppy stuff Lace xoxo
