The one I looked at is a hybrid. It requires some trips to their campus but is mostly online. Their website has all the info.

I'll also add that I spoke with Texas Women's University in Houston. While they would not give me a yes or no answer, they said that the GPA from the applicants last two years in nursing school is very important to them.

I spoke with UTMB and they said they would accept WGU grads into their NP programs. Assuming all other qualifications are met.

Have you looked at Texas A&M Corpus Christi's e-line nursing program? I am not sure if they take out of state students, but they do have an e-line military program so it might be worth looking at.

From what I have heard, the next confirmed cohort starts April 1st at Mainland Medical.

Already working in healthcare also helps! The point is, its not just grades they look at but the whole picture. So if your TEAS score is not as high as some you can still be competitive.

How long you have had your application in with them also determines who gets accepted. I was accepted as an approved alternate for the Nov 1st start in Houston. I get to start the first term and if 2 people drop or don't make it through I stay with that group for clinicals. If they don't, I am guaranteed a spot in the next clinical group. I don't have Biochem or nutrition but a 4.0 in all sciences and an 82.7 on the TEAS. However, I started my application process only a few months ago. My advisor said that there were people that have been in the "pipeline" longer than me and that contributed to me being an alternate.

I have not heard anything yet about the Nov 1 start date. I am supposed to talk with my advisor tomorrow. As far as the other schools, I was actually accepted in to the eLine program at Corpus but after talking to some current students in that program that are in the Houston area I decided that WGU would be a better fit.

I am hoping to get into the Nov 1 start here in Houston. Everything has been submitted and I am just waiting to hear back now. Are you in the Dallas area or Houston?

I dont have enough posts to IM either :) I have completed all pre-reqs except Biochem and Nutrition (they said I could take those while in the program). I was actually accepted into TAMU-CC's eLine program but started looking into WGU after talking to some current eline students. They are having trouble setting up clinicals in the Houston area it seems. If clinicals cant be set up near me I would have to drive to Corpus Christi for them. With kids and a job that is not a very easy thing to arrange ! I have to choose between the two soon since classes start at TAMU-CC on the 22nd.

I think the Texas pre-licensure students may be hard to come by because its so new here. I believe they have only had one graduation in Dallas so far. It woukd be intresting to trade notes on what our advisors say

Hello, I am looking into the same program, but in Houston. When I asked the admissions counselor about the program being 2 1/2 years long and if there was a way to progress faster she said no because of the clinicals. The program is set up for working individuals so they made the clinicals to work around that. Also, they are at the mercy of the hospitals and that hospital may not have the time / scheduling available to progress the students faster. She also said they are continually looking for ways to improve the program, and if there is a way to get it done faster they will try to figure it out .

I am also looking for current students, or anyone that has graduated from the WGU prelicensure program in TX, preferably Houston.

The Eline program has a new advisor. I spoke with them today and they were very helpful and informative. If you send me a PM with your email I will send you their contact info. I can't PM on this board yet.

Knowing what you know now, if you could go back woukd you still choose this program? Also, how many clinical hours are required for each class ?

I tried to reply to your message, but it would not let me. I am in the Houston area. From what I learned during my interview, they are changing the way the program works. Starting this fall it will be semester bound and you will have to take a full course load each semester. With not having any clinicals set up I was worried about passing the class within the semester so I have not registered yet . I am looking info other schools now, but I was really hoping ELine would work for me.

Hello! I was accepted into the eLine program but so far have been unable to find anyone that would do clinicals. I tried calling the school for help, but the no longer have an advisor for the eLine Program. I also never received a call back from a different advisor that I spoke with about clinicals. How did you go about getting places to do your clinicals?

I am planning on taking the HESI A2 with Critical Thinking in the Fall so I can apply for admission to TAMU-CC's eLine nursing program (to start in the summer of 2012.) I was wondering which study guides people used that helped them the most. I am nervous about taking the test, and would like to be as prepared as possible for it. Thanks!
