  1. Their program is awesome. If you truly pay attention in class it's much easier on you when you take exams. Best ways to study was to pay attention during lecture, study the slides, and study guides are very beneficial (not all professors give study guides). I used the textbooks as references when I was unsure of certain concepts. You pretty much have every Friday off except for the last summer as a senior where you may not have as many Fridays off. Its very doable, but you got to put a lot of effort. Once you get used to the schedule its much smoother. Don't let anyone scare you away and say you won't have a social life/ no life. There are 24 hours in a day so thats enough time to do a lot. Its very expensive. It got paid through federal loans and private loans. Most students that graduated from the 2011 Second Degree program have jobs. Much easier to get a job if u stay in Jacksonville though. JU has a pretty good passing rate for the nclex as well.
  2. Me too please that would be great!
  3. make sure you get your financial aid done for the summer asap! I had that problem last year. the financial aid office made me think everything was set when it wasn't and had to leave the program. A lot of miscommunication on their part. But i got accepted again for this May. You gotta nag them and make sure that you get the right financial aid and the right amount to cover for your tuition. Go through loan portals on the financial aid page for the ju website. Also if you need an alternative loan you can get one. Make sure you have enough for tuition and living.
  4. I got into a bsn second degree program and i had a 3.0. Don't let anyone discourage you about your gpa!
  5. Has anyone found a place to live?
  6. I have been calling financial aid all week and leaving messages with no luck. If anyone gets any info on financial aid or housing please let me know. We only have about 3 weeks to get everything done : /
  7. They said they really like the program and she said it does get tough at times just like any nursing program, but everything is doable. I still don't know what im doing about housing, but I have a friend sending me information on different apartment buildings. I still have been trying to contact the financial aid office to see how everything will be paid for.
  8. I am in Gainesville as well. I do plan on attending orientation. I have been contacting the financial aid and admissions office to figure out how to pay for everything. Yea i agree, I am loving the schedule as well. I just met someone in the program now through a friend and I know someone else that got accepted into the same program.
  9. Hey Gatorade352, I also recently got accepted to the Second Degree JU program. I find myself asking the same questions. I also tried to start a thread called "Jacksonville University (JU) Second Degree Nursing Program" for those who have been accepted or anyone who can give some info about financial aid, housing, the program, etc. So from the 352 area code I am guessing that you are in Gainesville?
  10. Anyone else get accepted?
  11. Congrats on your acceptance! Now you have a tough choice on choosing the school you want to attend.
  12. : ( I didn't get a call... which program were you accepted in futurenurse?
  13. Thanks Mayam. Now we can just relax and wait till early next week to start checking the mail like crazy lol.
  14. Yea three years is a long time. How do you know that they accept 15 students? I think they accepted 33 students either last year or the year before.
  15. I think I remember them saying something about acceptance letters being sent during the third week, but im not too sure. Did they ever tell you that you would either be placed in the second degree or traditional program?
  16. No news : (. Just letters from the financial aid office.
  17. Yea I applied and had an interview.
  18. Has Chris responded? How many students do they usually accept for the accelerated and traditional programs?
  19. does everyone who applies to the nursing programs at JU get an interview?
