Army Reserves
I hope someone can shed some light on what I was told today.... I spoke with a recruiter finally but not a healthcare recruiter. I was told that the army reserve nurse corp was full and they were only accepting those with a BSN. I don't know that he has all his facts straight because he then proceeded to try to get me to enilst active duty. Anyone heard this, anyone have a number of a healthcare recruiter I could speak with because this office in Miami has yet to get back to me at all to give me any information in the past two weeks. Thanks.

Army Reserves
I hope the OP doesn't mind me adding my questions on here as well..... I have been trying to get in touch with a recruiter as well, but no one has gotten back to me (which seems like a bad sign already). I was thinking about signing on for a 2 year commitment with the reserves nurse corp, I just passed my boards last week and am having a hard time finding a job. I get that I may be depolyed during that time. I'm curious what the 1 weekend a month and two weeks a year include? What goes on during that time? Where do you get sent and what do you do? I was also curious about the rest of the time in the year...is there work as a reservist beside the time required? I don't have a job as a civilian RN and would be interested in working for the army as a RN if they have jobs avalible..anyone want to shed light on that? Whats the pay like and the pay schedule (besides the bouses)? Is there pay for the reserves or is it only the bonues? Any and all information would be welcomed! Thanks!

Im taking NCLEX tomorrow (Monday)....need prayers!!!
Hey Heather I took my test yesterday too. I was so nervous, I studied my butt off for 4 weeks doing 150-200 questions a day. When the screen shut off at 75 I started to panic, I raised my hand for the lady so I could get out of there. As soon as I stepped outside I started to cry hysterically and hyperventilating, I had to call my husband so that I could calm down. I never thought I'd be so emotional about a test before, or maybe I was just overwhelmed that it was over. I did the pearson trick last night and I got the pop-up so I'm crossing my fingers! I read like 50 pages of posts so I think its pretty accurate, especially after reading the last couple of posts yesterday, where people were calling pearson. Well good luck to you. Keep us posted.

From graduation to NCLEX...how long?
I'm graduating May 8th and am going to buy the Kaplan qbank this weekend or next. I'm doing my practicum this week and next so I'm not sure how much studying I'll be doing with 4 straight 12's this week, and 4 days next week. So I was wondering how long from the date of graduation you waited until you took the NCLEX? Also how long does it take once you send in the application to take the test to get a date to test? Thanks in advance!! ~Kristin

Want to work as a unit secretary ... I need advice
Hi! I don't know where you are applying to, I am a UC as well. I had to really work to get the job and I'm so happy I did. I started applying for my UC job before I started NS, it took months. I had to go to human resources at least every other week. I wanted to work in the L&D department so finally I got fed up with HR and walked my butt up to the L&D dept and asked to talk to the Nursing supervisor. I spoke with her and told her how long I had been trying to get a job there, that I REALLY wanted to work in her dept, and that I was currently applying to get into NS. She said she would think about it and get back to me. I gave her a week before I called her to "make sure she remembered me" and she told me then that I was hired! A week later I was accepted to my program. I ended up changing from a part-time employee to a per diem because of my school schedule, but I'm sooo happy I kept my job. Last week I was told by the hospital I want to work at that in Aug. when they start Versant (their training program) they will only be accepting current employees and scholars students! So hang in there, be persistant, and if it was meant to be it will happen!

I'm not going to pass Med-Surg. 1
I have not gone through it, but I came pretty close in Med-Surg 2. My class lost so many people (we are less than half from when we started), and I lost 2 friends last semester. Don't give up...KEEP GOING! And try to remember everything happens for a reason. {{{{HUGS TO YOU}}}}

Recommended Nursing Books for RN Students
The Memory Notebooks of Nursing books are great! Also the Kaplan NCLEX review book is great for teaching you how to figure out what the questions are REALLY asking, this book literally saved me in my 2nd Med-Surg. semester.
