  1. Congratulations!!! I tested at St. Mary's almost 2 years ago. Forrest is an absolutely wonderful CA. I loved every minute at St. Marys. I stayed in the same hotel too. Again congrats Loops!!!
  2. Nerdtonurse... I completed the BSN in 3 months 8 days!!!!! Good Luck, very doable!
  3. thanks rockette and dudette. You have enlightened me. It does make it difficult because it's really an opinion paper because it has yet to be established. Thanks again, Lisa
  4. rocket surgery, it is a real bill: http://thomas.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c112:H.R.1119:# Basically, 1) I have to predict the econmic impact (e.g. costs, benfits, cost-containment on health care delivery. 2) evaluate how the equity of resource allocation 3) Disscuss impact on administrative resources 4) Discuss how the role of hte nurse could be impacted (kinda understand this one) But for the rest.... I have read the bill but it doesn't say where i get the rest of the information. I feel like i have to make it up... i feel this is "my opinion" but I can't give my opinion because i don't understand it. any advise!
  5. I am aboslutely struggling. I finished my BSN in 3 months. Now I started my MSN. The first course is Healthcare Policy, Organization, and Finance. I finished my first assignment which was creating a budget... wasn't all bad. BUT>>>>>> now i have been sitting on this paper for 2 weeks. I feel absolutely clueless. I don't understand any of it, even after talking to my mentor. Basically, If you understand politics and legislative bills I really really need to speak with you. I have read this bill at least 20 times... but I don't understand it, and i don't understand how i am to write this paper with the information given. If you have some free time to help me understand this I would greatly appreciate it!!
  6. I am hoping to finish my MSN in management and leadership in Feb through Western Governors University. After that.... I am considering going for my FNP or DNP. In your opinion would you do FNP or DNP? I keep reading that eventually like in 2015 they want to do away with FNP and make them all DNPs. I have been searching and searching databases for information from schools. But I really don't know even where to begin. First thought is... the school will need to accept WGU... obviously for the 3.0 GPA. Can anyone share what school they plan on attending? Love to hear some positive feedback.
  7. I want to be done by February. That is my goal. Whether it's realistic or not.... not sure. However, I know I have 12 courses to complete. I also know that the MSN portion I will take tests and write the papers. So..... I am not a strong test taker, i like writing papers. I don't have a specific study plan; i do know I will not waste time. Once I finish one assigment and submit for grading I go right into the next assignment; and if I get it back for revisions I do just that. I just don't see wasting time waiting for your grade when you can go ahead and start on the next assigment. I'll keep you posted!
  8. dxbtocvg, trust me the time will go by quicker than you realize. I just started the MSN course; and the first one is not exciting. Kinda boring... so i am getting off on a rough foot. I am still debating on doing the FNP. I feel like i have been in school forever so we'll see..... good luck!!!!
  9. Ok, so I am having a fictional Health Fair for Nutrition and Weight Loss Management. This is for my paper for my MSN program. What I need help with is... if I put the health fair together and mind you I have a budge plan to make. What do I need?? First of all, I need volunteers or hire employees. Then I know I would need equipment such as a scale and measurement tools. Consent forms. Hire a Nutritionist/Dietician. Rent a space out of booth of some sort. I know I need raw materials such as for advertising. What else am I missing? Any ideas or suggestions will be much appreciated.
  10. coolnurse, i had 23 units. spent anywhere from 1-3 hours during weekdays. The bulk of my studing, reading, and writing the papers were on weekends which ranged from 6-8 hours. Good Luck!
  11. I completed the RN-BSN in three months!! I worked full time the entire program. I also am a wife and mother of one! Can be done with dedication!
  12. Sweettart, I asked a couple of people I worked with and got lucky with one. then I asked the my old place of employment that I still kept in touch with. I had the researcher and one other one. If you can't find anyone; email the course mentor and let her know. She will send you the rest. I only had two and she sent me the others. Good Luck!
  13. RN2MSN, It only took me 3 months. I work full time as a Hospice RN case manger, I am a mother to one, and a wife. I made up my mind and dedicated a lot of time to school those 3 months but I was determined to get it done. It is doable in one term!!
  14. lol, awesome! Don't get me wrong I enjoyed a break. I finished the BSN on July 31st. But someone in the school just put my paperwork in a stack of forgotten papers and finally yesterday I got my first course added for the MSN. Originally, I signed up for just the BSN, but pretty much within the first month I knew I would go straight on for the MSN. I did the transition they offer. It's up to you if you want to get the BSN in between. I'm kinda glad I did. Not sure it really makes a difference. Once the transcripts get cleared the ball starts to roll and it will move faster. They do have a slow process. Patience is something I had to work on while waiting for grades. I'll keep ya and my followers (LOL) posted on my status. Good luck, if you have any questions or need to vent PM me!
  15. Ok, so finally I officially started the MSN program. Someone in the school dropped the ball and took over a month to get it right. So I am back on track. Anyone else out there currently doing the MSN in Leadership and Management?
  16. Lunah, I did the BSN! I will be doing the MSN soon, just waiting for them to say.... go!
  17. Hey there scooter. I just finished their BSN protion and hoping to move onto the MSN. I am just waiting to hear back from them when I can start!!! Good Luck!
  18. Yay, got my results on my last paper! I passed.... earned my BSN in less than 4 months!!!! I'm jumping right into the MSN! Go get um'
  19. BettermeRN.... sigh.... I still don't have my grade back yet. I talked to my mentor and she said that weekends don't count. However, I have received papers back on weekends before. It is more exhausting waiting for your last grade. Kinda getting irriated... but trying to be patient. Hmmm... it's not working. I really home I get it back tomorrow, at least before the weekend would be nice!
  20. fostermom, I understand your nervous. The rubric and papers were confusing at first but after you submit your first couple you'll be surprise how easy the rubric is to follow!
  21. Good Luck! It's a good place for you to test. I tested there last year and the Ce's and Ca are awesome! They do want you to pass!!
  22. @metro, the good news is you only have to come up with one topic and that's for the practicum. Also, advise I can give you if you want to start with the easier stuff first do the order they suggest. However you can have some variation. If I knew what I knew now I would of started with EBT, then HAT, the HGT (practicum) then KROT. These are the harder courses; well KROT is not hard but you have to register with IHI.org and do modules; and have to complete tests at the end. It's very time consuming. Then part of the paper is a reflection from what you learned (but only on a specific area) Good Luck! PM me anytime! I'm jumping into the MSN so I'll still be around!
  23. For the practicum you come up with a topic from your community diagnosis from HAT task 1. Mine was Access to Health Care services for the Elderly in Broward County. You discuss with the course mentor possible topics and then she will have you email her some interview questions. You interview people such as MD, social workers nurses etc. You will reasearch your community further and then you just write what they ask according to the rubric. Time Log was actually the most difficult; you can document your phone calls, emails, phone interview, face to face interview times. there's also "winshield activity" which is you getting in your car and assessing the particular area such as neighborhoods. 10 of the hours comes from HAT course and you have to have a total of 90 hours. You also have to do a genogram just like you did in HAT but will be slightly different. Hope this helps!!
  24. To my dear stalkers, lol!! Exactly 4 months into the program and today I just submitted my last paper for my BSN. I could use some fingers and toes crossed and a swift return of my grade. Hoping for no revisions! So exicted yet more nervous!!
  25. metro and fostermom you guys can do it!! I did find some momentum and pushing through my last course. I am about half done. It's a waiting game now though.... I need people to call me back so I can do my interviews. This portion is for the practicum. My advise: depending on the type of person you are; I like to do the hard courses first then the easier courses as I progress. I wish I would of knew this first. They usually start with the easier courses first to build your esteem up. I didn't take them in this order; however if i knew what i knew now I would of took EBT (research portion... and lost of research) first, then communinty health (HAT). The community health is the portion that has the practicum. It's more time consuming because it's a lot of research then interviewing and you have to come up with 90 hours. 10 of the hours account for the HAT tasks. But PM if you ever have any specific questions or what not. I am planning on starting the MSN portion in Novemeber. I may start earlier if I can get my fiancial aid more situated; we'll see. Just focusing on the practicum right now. My mentor is absolutely FABULOUS!!!!!! That's one of the best things about WGU... they are soooo supportive!
