  1. I must say I am lucky to have landed my 1st RN job. Well i still have to go through the physical but i don't see that being an issue. I was working as a tech and passed the nclex in November but i was told that my hospital was in a hiring freeze. Although I was already working there and started there as a GN (but failed my 1st time) and was told my position was being saved, when the time came to place me as a RN i was told there are no open positions. I learned from clinical educators that I knew, that there is a freeze. While looking for a job elsewhere, I came across that alot. I just thank God for this offer I have. Yes it's in a different hospital. Med-surg floor
  2. Like you I got my license in Nov. I to have been having a hard time finding a job. The hospital where i worked as a tech is in the middle of a hiring freeze. Just keep looking, someone will give you a chance. Lot of hospitals want so kind of experience right now. I was thinking and have applied for positions in nursing homes too. Just keep applying and call them back. soetimes they like it when people really show interest. I went on an interview and they told me that they would make up their mind on who to hire in a week and start calling people. Well that week came and went and i didn't here anything. I waited another week and i finally decided to call them just to see why i got passed up maybe i had to change something in my interview process. Well i left a message and the very next day they called me back offering me the position. Maybe they were waiting to see who really wanted the position and wanted to see who followed through with a call back. I have to report to employee health next monday and looking to start march 9. Looking foward to it and kinda scary too all at the same time. Don't give up
  3. I think there's a hiring freeze everywhere or at least in many hospitals. I got hired with no problem after graduation as a GN but i failed my boards the 1st time. Went to work as a PCA and took the nclex the 2nd time in November and yes i passed. My hospital had no openings for me as a nurse and they didn't reschedule me as a PCA after passing my boards. They told me they just started a 3 month hiring freeze. lucky for me i got a job offer from a small hospital in town in med surg. I really want that back ground for at least two years. I did get another offer thanks to a friend. She is an OR nurse and her hospital is starting another orientation class in March and June and I was told by the OR manager if the other job falls through to call her so i could work and start my career. It is hard times but my suggestion would be to talk to as many people as you can or know. Sometimes it isn't what you know but who you know.
  4. I'm not sure where u live but if u r serious about getting er experience go to the big cities. I'm from Southern Cali originally and whether it be San Diego, LA, Riverside, San Bernardino, there are so many hospital that i bet you can get experience. Or move to the New Jersey, New York area. Florida has many hospitals and openings too. If u r really willing to move the openings r out there. good luck
