  1. I have classmates who were in nursing programs for one reason or another before. I don't know if they did anything different to get in but I know they got exempt from one or two classes. As far as financial aid, the only thing available for second degree students are loans or scholarship if you're lucky.
  2. Congratulations, jypark I don't believe we get to choose our own clinicals as far as I've heard. Join the facebook group to chat with more Summer 2011 Newark students. See you next month. Dee
  3. Hi, Traceykim322 Congratulations on your acceptance. I am going to be in the Newark program as well. Dee
  4. Yep. I called the school to confirm for the earlier date.
  5. After you send your deposit. You will get two more letters coming in the mail. One for id and another set for Teas, book list, etc.
  6. Congrats, mgehm88. I'll be seeing you at the Newark campus. Did you pre-register for TEAS?
  7. Send it in. Even if it's too late they will bump you to the next semester.
  8. Thanks, mzchas I will certainly take advantage of it when the time comes. Good luck with your studies. D
  9. OH! I guess we will be starting at the same time just on different campuses. I will be attending the Newark campus. I hope it is do-able, so many students seem overwhelmed by the amount of studying, I'm thinking if I psych myself up for a lot of work it will make it a little easier. Did you get your id number yet? I sent my deposit last week but haven't heard from them since. D
  10. Zyrasmom, Would you be able to keep us informed on how your first semester goes? I was recently accepted for the summer program and I am waiting for my id number, etc. I would love to know what to expect from a second degree student. Hope your first day went well. D

OK, so, I guess I needed to check my mail box because my acceptance letter was sitting in it that same day. Now, I have to figure out if I can even attend...long story. I'm also waiting for another school to reply and then I will know for sure. D

Congratulations! I haven't heard anything so I'm guessing it's a no, although I have a bunch of classmates still waiting as well, some of which have really high gpa's so, I dunno. All the best to you. D

Yeah, I guess it will say in progress. I know about the course requirements that's why I am also taking the Human Growth and Development in the Fall as well. That's the course that I have to actually be enrolled in to apply for January's evening program. Do you know where I can get the application to the nursing program? Do I have to go into the office? I didn't see one on the website. Dee

:yeah:WOW, congrats on the 98 percentile with the NET. I took it early as I heard they were doing away with it too. I also signed up for Micro in the Fall in one of the evening classes. I have also been impatiently waiting to apply in September since they said I can't officially apply with Micro until actual enrollment. Later, Dee

Thanks for the link and the motivation. I'll let you know how it goes. Dee

Hi, beatrocka Thanks for replying. Ya know, I was in Barnesnoble yesterday myself (with my chem books) and there were two groups of nursing students studying, I was so tempted to ask them some questions but I didn't want to seem like a groupy, lol. As far as school, I may be able to save my grades in chem if I ace the next two exams, I screwed up the first two (apparently I'm better at organic than inorganic). I took the NET back in February and got an 88, hopefully, that's good enough and then I will apply to the nursing program right after I get my chem and A&P grades. Congratulations on your externship, you"ll have to tell me how you did that one day, I hear those are hard to come by. What unit will you be in? De

Thanks for breaking down everything, beatrocker, it is helpful to know what it's like from someone currently in the program. Mtru11, I am thinking of taking Micro in the Summer too maybe we can be study buddies, lol. I'm taking A&P and Chem this semester while trying to hold down a full time job with 2 kiddies (what was I thinking?) Anyway, Best of luck to both of you. P.S. beatrocker is there any support as far as upper classmates guiding lower classmates at the school? It would be really helpful to have someone who has been through it guide newbies through the courses. D
  20. Here's what ya gotta do. Use the questions at the end of the chapter as your study guide. Or use the chapter summary (pay attention to the headings) and create your own questions to most importantly understand and then study the material in the subheadings. Next check different websites, there are tons of websites to help with this course including those by professors of other schools and your book usually has its own companion website (read the section for students at the beginning of your book to find this information). Here is a website that I frequent a lot because it helped me understand proximal/distal http://www.mhhe.com/biosci/esp/2002_general/Esp/default.htm another one is www.getbodysmart.com Also, do all the questions at the end of each lab section but make sure you understand and not just memorize, if you can't find the answers to the questions in your lab book look up each question online. Don't forget to listen to key words from your professor like "this is important" or notice if he repeats a concept too. If you can record the class using your ipod, recorder, etc. then do so. It also wouldn't hurt to simply ask him what he thinks are the important aspects to learn in the course. If you need more help let me know. Dee
  21. The time is going to go by anyway...why not get what you want along the way. And, somehow I don't believe you'll be the only "wise woman" in the class. Dee
  22. Congrats, and remember how you feel for when studying gets hectic. Dee
  23. I would love to know how to do this as well. Dee
  24. Water, a change of clothes and a towel. Dee
  25. I hope to say all of the above one day. Dee
