  1. negative behaviours coming from the physicians often happens...i dont know why the nerve they can act like that, they have this kind of authoritarian attitude, they think they know all. i have known one OB gyne whos very terror, who will really yell at you,say things that will really hurt u as a person which is not right as a professional..even if u try ur best to pleased her still if she doesn't like u,expected to get a very cold expression from her as if she doesn't saw u....actually she's one of the doctor that we hate the most, almost all of the nurses doesn't like her as if her smile is worth a million...sometimes she shared stories about a nurse from other hospital whos very stupid,of course after we heard her telling it to us,what does she think of us to react of course its a shame....what does she think about nurses ,are we all stupid???that is why sometimes we avoid her.........coz we know everytime she has a patient in the hospital that i worked at,i know that for her all the best that we can do for the patient seems not enough for her....she dont trust nurses that much...i don't know why..it will remain a question in my mind....i do hope that she will change for good..
  2. thanks very much...that is what im doing right now......i know its a long process....
  3. legality based..its the doctors/surgeon who do stitches...
  4. I'm a nurse working in the philippines with 3 years up to present experience in a hospital especifically in Operating Room Unit.I also had an exposure in medical surgical ward in the same hospital.I was thinking that the length of my experince is enough for me to work or apply for an immigration in canada, its really one of my dream country.Recently I attended a seminar conducted by a canadian immigration consultancy,he told me the advantages of migrating to canada and the benefits that i could get. Also he told me that its good to apply for an immigration visa rather than working visa .Furthermore he explained about having relatives or friends in canada who can help me find an employer so that the show money will be waved as pre requisite by the canadian embassy. i want to know whether its easy to find an employer for us filipino nurses or not? what will be the easiest way....can anyone give me the best option to do?any advise or opinion are greatly appreciated...pls do help me........for me to have a good career plan.
  5. I worked as a nurse in the philippines for 3 years up to present,i was assigned in Operating Room Unit.I know that my experience is enough for me to be able to work in a foreign country like canada...i attended a seminar conducted by canadian immigration consultancy because I wanted to apply for an immigrant visa for me to be able to go to canada immediately and of course because of the benefits that I can get rather that applying for a working visa according to the immigration consultancy. They also told us that the help that we can get for the immigration process to accomplish in a short span of time is to find or can I say to have our employer in the canada, it means direct employer from canada if we have relatives or friends there....I just wanted to know is it difficult for us filipino nurses to find an employer in canada? just wanted to gets some advise because it is an advantage if i can find an employer in canada to wave the show money that the embassy want..:yeah:hope that someone could help me..:(any opinions or advise will be greatly appreciated..thank you!
  6. i probably suggest medical surgical unit...because u can experience all u want to know...as a fresh graduate u will be learning a lot, about nursing procedures...encounter different medications ,this will be a good start for you i tell...
  7. congratulations!!you made it......prayers are important tool to any exam not just exam but in our daily lives.....dont forget that God is always with us...he made everthing happens just as we want.
  8. planned everything accordingly....its right you have to prioritize things so that you will not be confused...also presence of mind....coz if you will be easily stressed out of course tendency is,it will ruin activities to be done during you shift.
  9. i do experienced the same....recession has a great impact to all of us who works..in the hospital that i workred at,the management does a little memorandum that affect us,every holidays the management used not to limit the nurses on duty so it really has a great help in our salary, but now they are manadating about limitation of staff nurse on duty during holidays they call it "skeletal" meaning every shift only two nurses will be having their duty while the others will be waiting whether they will be on call if there is case that two nurses cannot handle but if they are not being called theres no pay......how bad it is.....
  10. ohh..thats too bad....it should be a teamwork..that kind of action with what you called the "supernurse" is somewhat a selfish act...all are up to doing each responsibility in the working area.if anyone in your unit does have this kind of attitude it will not work...it may have a conflict between staff nurses..
  11. nurses shortage is common here in the philippines beause almost all nurses wants to work abroad and some wants to migrate in foreign countries....it is really visible....
  12. as i've red this thread i was touched....this kind of situation is hard for a nurse to deal especially if you are a kind-hearted person and sensitive....i feel bad for the child....i hope the person who raped her will feel guilty....its really an assault to the family of the child..maybe comforting and feeling her more secure would make her more at ease...i hope she will be alllowed to be visited by her family coz it will really help but of course try to make this kind of action in a step by step process... this will be a long term goal..... it needs patients so that the wound will heal..in time....
  13. I don't have anything to do with your opinion i just based it in my experience,i know the word teamwork dont have to say it....all i want is to share is my experience...that is why if u dont want to get hungry quickly eat a heavy breakfast, i tel you, you will not be starving for 8 hours u would still be alert in providing care with your patients...it is so exagerrated if you get your patient at risk if u dont eat..maybe its because we have different setting in a hospital.u can drink,u can seat in the station if your already finished with your task.so probably you can still rest.this will not get too much for you to experience hypoglycemia...
  14. you did a good emergency action...! keep it up...it will help boost your confidence....
  15. i agree skipping meals is common especially bedside nurses....its not mandated that you should skip meals whenever possible because the management does allow nurses to have a 30 mins quick break....and its up to you if you will use that time to have a break considering that you handled 15 paTients, you had every 6 hours feeding,on going peritoneal dialysis, what do you think? maybe you will be freaking out because you are very exhausted, and unable or forgot to eat.remember the words "patient centered" so we all up to taking responsibilty what might happen if we leave them for 30 mins...it will ruin the pattern of your routines daily activity, sometimes i ate after my duty so that it will not be a conflict with my work..that is why before going in for a duty i eat a heavy breakfast for me not to be starving during the entire 8 hours.
