  1. Thanks for sharing. What I shared is what I have heard, not what I think.
  2. I am a RN wih a MSN in Informatics. one side of our office is clinical support analyst and the other part, where I work if physician support. I officially belong to MIS. I am the only clinical person on my team. The others come from various backgrounds such as Lab, IT, and finances. I am told that it is easier to teach a nurse to work with IT than train an IT in nursing. However, many on other teams have a background in IT, have no clinical background but do great work in various areas. My group works as a team, the IT people help me with some of the computer stuff and I help them understand workflow and other clinical information. I hope this has helped.
  3. I think you should write a hand written leter expressing your gratitude.Sometimes people think the best gifts are those that cost money. I disagree!
  4. I graduated in 2011 from Walden university. I earned a MSN with a specialty in Informatics. The classes were great and all onlne. i am now in my first informatic job and appreciate the knowledge gained at Walden.
  5. I work in nursing inforamtics. I work in the upstate of South Carolina. I am new to allnurses and not sure how we get in touch with each other.
  6. My suggestion is for you to find out who the Administrator director for NI is and then ask for a meeting. The Admin director will be an awesome resource. It took me a while as a MSN specializing in Informatics to get a job. I did an intership with my now Admin-director and eventually got a job. Nursin infornatics is a relative new field. FYI. my new team mate came from the hospital lab...but she is VERY good with computers. I have clinical knowledge and she has the IT knowledge so we are a great team. I advise that you talk to the folk who work with your EMR's. Good Luck :)
  7. I graduated with a MSN in 2010. I went from an ADN to MSN in three years and with grants, the costs was $28,000. I thought this was expensive until I spoke with another RN. she informaed me that she went from ADN to BSN at Clemson Univeristy and her cost was $27,000. I am well pleased with my online education. I am able to work in an area that is kinda new and exciting. I learned that I really enjoy research and wish I had the funds for the PhD. Education is like most things, if you want it your will get it.
  8. Hi, :heartbeat I just found this forum and I am excited to meet other RNs interested in coding. I need to get away from bedside care due to illness and weakened immune system. I found that my community hospital offers coding classes. The cost is $800.00 plus $209.00 for the books. This is a Monday ( 5-8) and Thurs (5-8) class that is 14 weeks long. I love working in health care! I am hoping this opens a door to a different approach to health care. My dream would be to work from home and still have benefits. I hope this becomes reality and not just a dream. I would love feedback as to what others are doing in the coding industry. :typing
