Dental surgery. I did a PEDS clinical rotation at a small hospital and 9 out of 10 of the PEDS OR/PACU cases were dental surgeries. I watched ONE child receive dental crowns & I'll NEVER do it again. I was soooo nauseous and I almost passed out. It was so gross! Now, this is coming from someone that will put off a routine dentist appointment for as long as possible...bad, I know lol. However, I take VERY good care of my teeth. Something about getting that close to someone's teeth grosses me out...especially with all the weird sound effects while picking at them *shivers*. I'm weird...I know lol.

:-D I'm a new grad and this of allllllll the posts on allnurses and from my colleagues, has helped me the most. I kinda got a slight chuckle from it lol. I have been feeling the same way as the OP since day 1 on the floor. Great preceptor & everyone on the floor has been beyond supportive, helpful & encouraging. My confidence just isn't there. Although, each day I gain just a tad bit more confidence in SOME area compared to the shift before. Thank you OP for this threat and Grntea for that post that put everything into perspective!

Sorry, but I agree with this poster...especially being that there's no guarantee after you "train" w/ them. I've never heard of any program like this but I guess it's different for every state. Have you tried applying for other jobs/hospitals? On the other hand, don't knock it til you try it right? Good luck on whatever you decide to do!! :-D

I think everyone says to (& this helped me) look at the SATA questions as true or false questions. When I studied for the PN, I used the Exam Cram book, PDA book, and I can't remember what else I used. I used Kaplan for the RN, the PDA book again, & the Kaplan strategies/review book. Practice as many questions as possible but don't drain yourself. If you need a break, take a break and get back to it! I definitely wish you the best of luck!

When the time comes, apply for any and every unit/specialty that you may be interested in. I didn't apply for any specialties that I was not interested in because I knew when it came down to it, I'd end up hating it. For example, I don't know how to communicate with children and I'd rather not work with them, so I didn't apply for a peds position. Don't listen to everyone that says you MUST start in med surg! It's not true. If that's where you want to go, cool...do that. I was hired in trauma and was given every reason why I wouldn't be hired. Until then, good luck :-)

No problem. I believe the position that I applied for said 'BSN preferred'. If that's the case & you think that you'll have a good chance of getting a call back (& you meet the requirements), why not apply? Good luck!

I was recently hired as an ADN but I'll be on a critical care floor in the STC, not the TRU. You might want to look at some of their job postings online but from my understanding you need experience in the ICU or ER for the TRU. Don't quote me on that though, because I was hired as a new grad, associate's degree nurse with no experience (outside of clinical) on a floor like the one I was hired for, or a hospital, in general. Also, my clinical experience was in smaller hospitals.

My orientation will be 10weeks on a trauma progressive care unit/intermediate care unit.

I agree with you. If you got the good pop-up, let that ease your anxiety until you get your license # on the BON website. Don't pay for the quick results. I was still nervous/anxious because my # wasn't posted yet and gave in and bought the quick results. It took like 2 days for my # to be posted on the BON website. You got the good pop up? Take a breather, you passed lol. Patience is the key!!!

PVT is accurate. Took the test on 6/14 (Friday) and got the good pop up. 6/16 (Sunday) did the quick result. 6/17 (Monday) BON states that the results are pending. RN license # today 6/18 (Tuesday). Whoop!! Whoop!!! :-D

I was a crammed in nursing school too. So I know how you feel. It just didn't feel right to not look over SOMETHING at the last minute lol. Honestly, I did like 10 QBank questions to get myself in the zone before I left the house. It didn't really help though. I was still a nervous wreck throughout the entire test AND after lol. That's just me though *shrugs*.

Yeah although I had 20-30 SATA, I was freakin out because of the overall # of questions I had. I didn't have 75, 100, and by the time it got to 150, I figured I would get the dreaded 265. I can't even tell you what # it shut off on but when it did, I thought I failed. You won't know til you know lol. Good luck!

I had the same just more questions. At lease 20-30 SATA and majority priority questions. Also, I guessed throughout the entire test...thinking to my self, "There's no way that you got that question right but ok" lol. I'm still getting the good pop up!!

I know right lol?! I admit that I feel very relieved after seeing the good pop. Now, I can get back to leisure reading (non-nursing lol). I've made a list throughout nursing school of books that I'd like to read, after I was done. Good luck to everyone that's taking the NCLEX soon or waiting on their official results (incl. myself)! I know it's super nerve-wrecking.
