Unfortunately, todate, I have not heard from MEC for Fall 2009 intake in respect ot acceptance letter. Howvever MEC did mail & email me (seven weeks ago)to say that one of my university transcript was missing and this document has since been forwarded to MEC. Maybe we will be hearing from them soon-even this waiting process must have an end. Hope that you get in and keep the faith. Good luck to all.

Good luck with algebra and practice, practice, practice. You could find practice exercises, quiz and simple test re algebra by typing 'algebra for grade7-12. Put one grade at a time and build up from there. Now where more effort is needed is one step closer to improving those grades. Happy practicing.

Congrats, Seasoned hopeful!! I too believe that learning is a lifelong journey and that one must try to realize their full potential, given the necessary prerequisite. I will be starting nursing as a 2nd career (age 49); so positive and forward thinking people like you give me great hope and encouragement. To all hopefuls-stay positive, do what is required-age should not limit-the sky is the limit. Good Luck-all

Hi letarn2b Since reading your post, I have made some enquires and the best strategy is to have many options as possible when pursuing the AAS. You seem to be very prudent , smart (lol) and resourceful in your quest for a school of best fit-bravo! Good luck! In that regard, I will be grateful if you could pm me about Suny Clinton and Tompins Cortland. Info on tuition, passing grades, duration, location, transportation and housing will be welcomed. I will also be happy if you would keep me up todate with the pros and cons of your chosen school, which will help me decision wise. Thanks

From my recent research and readings it seems that they have restructure the programme and the results are encouraging, judging from MEC's performance at the State 2008 nursing examinations: ADN & BSN. To:letarn2b, Thanks for feedback. Good discussion here and I do hope that more potential or actual students of MEC: past or current participate on this board, thereby helping others make informed decisions, when selecting a nursing programme of best fit.. Having said so, which institution did you chose? By what month is acceptance letters for Fall 2009 are likely to be received? Could not find that information on MEC's site. Vyibez I am repeating letarn2b's question: have you recieved the actual acceptance letter? Thanks always and regards to all.

Vyibez, Thanks for following through with comparison and I do agreed that Medgar Evers' (ME) preclinical looks very interesting. Have you decided which institution that you will be attending? I do hope to get into ME, because of its ladder programme into the BSN and location-close to family/friends. I am an out of state potential student. Good luck with your programme of choice. I know that you will be a fine student and a great nurse because you are doing the necessary research (before hand) and accumulating knowledge (re different nursing programmes) before jumpimg in. allnurses.com is a great place to get informed & stay informed; thereby facilitating great decisions! Once again thanks and may great things happen for you.

Hi, Congratulations on your acceptance to Medgar Evers for Fall 2009!! One questions: Can you kindly list the preclinicals/prerequisite for ME and those of the differing schools-just for comparison and better understanding of the differences. Once again, congrats, for sharing your good news. Ps: I have not received any correspondence from ME because my status is incomplete; one of my transcript (College) was delayed. Will post the outcome here.

i am surprized that many students are not hitting that post. i think the problem is the title-the caption is not specific nor capturing enough for such great and useful news. this information is vital in the selection of nursing programs and schools and to promote a cunny education. some students chose expensive alternatives because they erroneously thinks that price equal value in education-all the time. some are on long waiting list while they could be attending a cunny college. here is affordable cunny out performing the more expensive alternatives and that information should be effectively communicated to all! please consider more captivating title, otherwise such vital information will not get to the intended target: 1.cunny nursing schools outperformed the rest-2008. 2.cunny nursing programs rated best for 2008. 3.cunny nursing programs are affordable and deliver past rates higher than other institutions in 2008. 4.choose cunny nursing schools for affordability and higher pass rates- above the rest for 2008 5. cunny nursing programs are emerging as leaders in their field-see 2008 pass rate results. information is not useful if intended audience are not been drawn in, to get benefits. just some humble suggestions and i think, information should be put in general nursing discussions and all other sections on allnurses.com (if this has not been done). after all, this is educational news for all levels of nursing from lpn to masters. thanks.

This is absolutely good news. I have applied for ASS/RN at Medgar Evers Community College for the Fall 0f 2009. To all applicants for Fall 2009, lets post our intention here and upon acceptance let's share the good news. So little is posted/written about Medgar Evers on the nursing blogs and on allnurses.com. This is so encouraging. Congratulations to all CUNY colleges offering nursing education.!!! This is from: FirstChoiceLast

I cannot do this job anymore!
RE: I can not do this job anymore! I feel your pain, anguish and despair because I am also at the crossword-career wise. What I have learnt form my experience is: Don't rush to make any permanent changes, immediately. Perhaps you can take some time off the job as an immediate action. Then please re-examine your entire life-take a holistic approch to selve evaluation, you may just discover that other factors in your life could be contributing to you wanting to quit your job. Please get professional help if this seem to be overwhelming. All the nurses in this forum will give you the support you deserve but in the end you will have to make the right but hard decision for your own peace of mind and well being.Good luck and tackle this one small step at a time.

Nursing-A second carrer at 50!
I have a 25+ years career in Finance and Accounting. I have reached the top of my profession in my area-Financial Controller. Job satisfation is now zero and I kepp wondering about my first career choice-nursing;which my mom, who worked at a hospital discouraged me to pursue since I was gifted in mathematics and numbers. I now have a stong yearning to embark on a nursing career before it is too late and therefore I have registered to start the ADN, this fall at a community college. From reading the blogs, my questions are: 1. Is it too late for me to have a meaningful career in nursing? 2. Is age discrimination widespread? 3. Is employement for new, older graduate more difficult? 4. Is there a site with information as to best employers for older/new nurses? 5. Is it wothwhile/cost effective to pursue studying from:ADN,BSC to Masters or PHD, level in nursing at my age- newly 50? 6. Is there statistic out there, about successes in nursing as a second career at age 50 plus? Thanks for information and feedback.
